       Episode 16 – Empty World
       Airdate: Saturday 12th October 2013
Synopsis: Paladin is training aboard the Dawn Katana, alone.
       Waspinator, piloting the ship, is watching on security cameras;
Prophecy (standing in the bridge) immediately declares that it
is probably because of the perception filter, leaving both her
and Waspinator confused. The ship’s A.I. informs Waspinator that
they are drawing close to the coordinates Cross-Shot gave – the
       mining planet Lendan.
The Archaicons are scouting a forested planet as a possible new
home-world – Airazor and Lacerator are leading the group, with
the former somewhat cautious of his stern ally. They reach a
small clearing, and Airazor asks if they can take a break,
       collapsing onto a bolder.
       Airazor: Can we… take… a break? Primus, I’m exhausted…
Lacerator gives the group exactly three minutes, and starts
scouting ahead as the others rest. As Airazor applauds his own
leadership, one of the Archaicons is shot, dying instantly. The
others try to locate the sniper, only to hear a high-pitched
drone. Airazor transforms and flies after it, leaving the other
Archaicons alone. The Dawn Katana lands on Lendan – the planet
is drab and dreary, and hundreds of giant machines are dotted
across the land. The ship’s A.I. explains that the planet is a
popular source of minerals, but the current situation seems to
be beyond that. Waspinator figures that this must be to do with
the fragment, and leads the team out, Paladin trailing behind.
They head towards one of the machines, and find that it is
mining constantly from deep below the planet’s surface, working
automatically. Waspinator reasons that they need to find the
people in charge of the machines, and Scale uses his power to
disrupt the machine’s working. An alarm starts.
       Scale: You’re welcome.
Airazor manages to catch up to the source of the noise… a large
mosquito – Drain – who transforms mid-flight and attacks him.
Airazor is hit, but manages to drag her down too as he falls.
The two start trading blows, and Drain comments that she has
done a brilliant job of leaving the lower bots unguarded.
Airazor is shocked at this, and all the while, the other
       Archaicons are attacked by Ambush.
As the Maximals sit in the mining vehicle, Paladin is visibly
uncomfortable. Cross-Shot asks if he is okay, and he sends her a
telepathic flash of his emotions. The authorities arrive, and
arrest the Maximals – only for Snapjaw to phase through his
electro-cuffs and Scale to short his out. Waspinator explains
that he and his team are searching for an item on the planet,
and believe it may be connected to the increase in mining. The
lead officer explains that, over the past couple of weeks, the
minerals within the planet have transmuted into something richer
than platinum and more potent as a fuel than anything in the
known universe. Almost the entire planet has been mined now.
Paladin twitches, scowling, as Waspinator asks that they be
taken below the surface. The officer contacts his leader, who
gives clearance, and the authorities lead the Maximals off.
Lacerator returns to the clearing, only to find the area empty.
She steps forward, and falls into a trap – Ambush scurries over
in beast mode, and is instantly hit by one of Lacerator’s
spines. She uses two more to climb out of the trap, and asks
Ambush – only once – what he has done with her team.
Lacerator: I’m going to give you one chance. Tell me – where is
       my team?
Ambush chuckles that they are being dealt with; unimpressed,
Lacerator launches spines at Ambush, who dives and starts
sending charges through the ground at her. As she fights,
Lacerator contacts the ship and requests back-up. The other
Archaicons are being terrorised by Rampage, when Skysquawk
approaches her, asking how things are going. She informs him
that Ambush is initiating phase two, and Skysquawk notes that he
shall prepare for his part. One Archaicon yells out at him, and
he takes hold of their head, twists it roughly at 90 degrees,
and then pushes it down into their spark chamber. The Maximals
head down through the planet in a heavily-constructed, large
elevator. Snapjaw phases his head through the wall, and notes
that the planet is indeed hollow, with the crust supported by a
       gravity network.
Snapjaw: Well, it’s about as hollow as-
       Prophecy: “Prophecy’s head”!
Snapjaw: I imagine it would allow you to speak before it echoes…
Scale: And the crust is just floating there?
Snapjaw: A gravity network, actually. Hundreds of platforms
secured into the base with a gravitational field between them.
Scale: Better than the alternative, I suppose.
Paladin’s fists clench and unclench, as the elevator continues
       down.
Airazor and Drain continue to fight, with Drain holding the
upper hand, only for Sickleclaw to appear, attacking the
Predacon from behind with her sword. Scorpinax comes to
Lacerator’s aid, while Huntdown heads off to find the other
Archaicons. When the Maximals reach the central station
suspended above the remaining minerals in the planet’s outer
core, Paladin lunges out, charging for the operation’s leader
and demanding to know what happened to the planet’s residents.
The leader asks what he means, and Paladin explains that the
structure of the land shows the foundations of civilisation.
When the leader remarks that the residents have been confined to
a small area, and will be relocated once their world is mined
dry, Paladin aggressively knocks the leader out, snarling.
Prophecy hands Snapjaw the fragment extractor, and has
Waspinator use his Fibonacci spiral to increase his team-mate’s
intangibility power; as Snapjaw heads off, Waspinator ponders
why he keeps forgetting his spiral, and Prophecy excitedly notes
that it is probably because of the perception filter.
Waspinator: Why do I keep forgetting that this is on my hand…
Prophecy: Ooh, ooh! It’s probably because of the perception
       filter.
       Waspinator: …
Prophecy: *head tilt* Did I get it right this time?
Huntdown locates the downed Archaicons, along with Skysquawk and
Rampage; he immediately contacts the ship, and Dinobot
Transwarps in. Skysquawk chuckles, glad to see ‘the Maximal who
destroyed hope’, and points out his captives. Dinobot states
that he is no longer a Maximal, and neither are his people –
Skysquawk is surprised, but states that he will crush the bots
anyway. The Archaicons stand up around Dinobot, outnumbering the
two Predacons, and Skysquawk furrows his brow, before calling a
       tactical retreat.
Skysquawk: Hmph. This isn’t worth the effort. *contacts Ambush
and Drain* Ambush, Drain, we’re retreating.
       Drain: What? Why?
Skysquawk: We’ve made a mistake. These bots aren’t worth our
       time.
Drain flees as Sickleclaw composes herself, exhausted. As
Paladin stares out over the remaining outer core of Lendan,
Cross-Shot approaches him; she asks him to tell her what is
wrong, and when he refuses, she orders him to. He explains that
he is upset that another civilisation has been torn down by
outside forces, and Cross-Shot informs him that people like her
choose to fight for those people. Paladin swears to do the same,
as Snapjaw returns with the fragment and the leader comes to.
       Cross-Shot: Tell me what’s wrong.
       Paladin: Nothing’s wrong.
       Cross-Shot: … I’m your second-in-command. Tell me what’s wrong;
       that’s an order.
Paladin: … I watched my people fall. I watched them get twisted,
and ruined. And I ran away because I couldn’t do anything. And
now we’ve found another world where the citizens’ lives have
been turned upside down by outside forces. It makes me sick.
Cross-Shot: I know. I understand. Those are the people that I
fight for. People like me, we dedicate out lives to helping
those in need. We serve justice.
Paladin: … that sounds good. No matter what, I’ll make sure
       things like this never happen.
Waspinator explains to the leader that the minerals are now
useless, and that it would be best if they did their best to
       repair this world and leave.

       Episode 17 – Flowing Backwards
       Airdate: Saturday 19th October 2013
Synopsis: The Dawn Katana is running a system scan on itself
during ‘night’ hours, the A.I. mumbling all the while. Prophecy
pops up, watching the data stream past, and comments that she
misses the future. At that moment, she turns sharply, as if
having heard a noise, and a few moments later, Cross-Shot walks
in. The archer states sleepily that she can sense another
       fragment nearby.
The Maximals are gathered in the ship’s bridge later – the
lights are on and late afternoon light is shining through from
outside. The ship explains that they are on the planet Vibros, a
large planet with great cultural diversity. They have landed in
a town in one of the major regions, Culvenda, which is heavily
religious. Waspinator leads the team out, and as soon as
citizens notice them, they instantly start to charge at them,
calling them monsters; the Maximals rush aboard the ship, and
the A.I. notes that the citizens are usually warm and inviting.
Dawn Katana: Huh. Okay, well, that’s odd…
       Cross-Shot: Come again?
Dawn Katana: Well, the citizens don’t usually act like that.
       They’re… kind. Warm. Welcoming.
Snapjaw: Oh, gee, that’s good to know!
Scale remarks that this is seemingly the effects of a fragment,
and Waspinator decides that they shall wait until night to head
out. They fly the ship elsewhere for good measure, as townsfolk
are attempting to break in. As time passes, the Maximals bide
their time; Cross-Shot and Paladin train, Prophecy paints,
Snapjaw plays a board-game in boredom, and Scale researches the
planet. Waspinator approaches the Arcrise egg, noting that it
has grown larger over the past few weeks. He confesses ‘to her’
that he is still haunted by the mistakes he has made, including
not realising his feelings for her until it was too late.
Waspinator: Wow. You’re growing fast. That’s good. Just hope
you’re comfy here, I won’t be able to move you around if you get
       much bigger. … I’ve made a lot of mistakes, y’know. And it’s
like I can’t forget them. They creep back into my head… dragging
me down. I know they shouldn’t matter, but they still do. I…
didn’t realise how much you meant to me until it was too late.
That’s just one mistake in a very long line. I can’t forgive
myself for that… for losing you.
As midnight draws near in the town, the Maximals head out again,
exploring the dark and empty town. Paladin notes the large
number of statues dedicated to the various gods of the religion,
just as time ticks over and a new day arrives, as displayed
digitally on the town hall… but Scale notes that something is
wrong. In studying the culture, he learnt the names for the days
of the week, and the display just showed the day going back
rather than forward. Snapjaw suggests that the former-mercenary
misread the information, but Scale insists that there is
definitely something odd occurring. Cross-Shot leads them off
       towards the fragment.
As they reach the area, they find a guard, who questions their
appearance but shows none of the aggression from the earlier
events. She explains that the area she is guarding is a sacred
ground, and that if the Maximals return during daytime, they can
tour the vicinity. Waspinator goes to explain the situation, but
hesitates, and leads the team off. Snapjaw chides him for not
simply retrieving the fragment, but Waspinator recalls the
incident on Farna, with the miracle stone, and how much of an
uproar their taking of the fragment caused.
Snapjaw: Hey, Waspinator, here’s a good idea… how about, instead
of getting that important fragment and getting on with our
lives, we waste time obeying local laws?
Waspinator: I don’t want a repeat of Farna. The people there
were obsessed with their ‘miracle stone’ and we took that from
them. I don’t think I need to remind you how that worked out for
       us.
Paladin gives Waspinator a cold look at this. As the sun rises
and the townsfolk start milling about, the Maximals head back to
the sacred ground, and find it much busier (and with no
aggression towards them). Snapjaw points out that they should
have acted when they had the chance, but Waspinator says that
they need to find out the significance of the site, as well as
to scout out the best way to sneak in at night without being
caught. They split into two teams, with Waspinator, Prophecy and
Paladin scouting out the area, and Cross-Shot, Snapjaw and Scale
remain in the main entrance and listen to the guides. Paladin
asks Waspinator if he really intends on desecrating the grounds
and the leader points out that if they attempt to preserve every
part of every civilisation they encounter, they will never
       manage to preserve their own.
Paladin: Let me double-check… are you planning on desecrating
the grounds that these people find sacred?
Waspinator: I appreciate your concern, Paladin, but look at it
this way: if we attempt to preserve every single part of every
civilisation we disrupt… how are we supposed to preserve our
       own?
Bored of the guides, Snapjaw decides to investigate the grounds
on his own – he heads off, with Cross-Shot and Scale only
noticing after he is already lost in the crowd. The Maximal uses
his intangibility to phase through the floor, snooping around in
the lower levels. Finding the fragment, he pops up to the ground
level, calling out to Cross-Shot and Scale to find Waspinator…
before realising that he is right in the centre of the sacred
grounds. The townsfolk become enraged, as Snapjaw phases back
underground and reappears outside of the grounds; exasperated,
       Cross-Shot and Scale follow.
Waspinator, Prophecy and Paladin notice the changed, unanimous
flow of the townsfolk, and head outside to find the other three
Maximals surrounded. Cross-Shot desperately tries to reason with
the mob (evidently fear-struck from the Farna incident), but one
of the townsfolk steps forward with a gun, aiming to kill her.
Scale lunges between them, and uses a small scythe to bifurcate
the attacker. Everyone is shocked, and the mob continues
charging. Waspinator calls the Dawn Katana over, and the group
rush aboard, before heading off elsewhere. Paladin attacks Scale
in a rage, but the older bot manages to best him, pinning him to
the floor and remarking that he was only saving his team-mate.
Waspinator, scowling lays out the information: the days appear
to be going backwards instead of forwards, and the citizens were
angry with them ‘yesterday’ but were not today, until just now.
The obvious conclusion is that the fragment is making the days
go in reverse order, including their interactions with events
(but not their conscious minds, as opposed to the townsfolk).
Waspinator: Let’s look at the facts. The days seem to be going
in reverse order. The citizens were trying to kill us yesterday
       – well, ‘yesterday’ – but today, until just now, they were as
warm and inviting as the ship said. So… it’s the fragment. At
midnight, the day goes back rather than forward, literally.
Cause and effect are in reverse. Whatever happens today leads to
yesterday, and has no effect on tomorrow – it hasn’t happened
yet. That includes our actions – just not our minds, obviously.
Cross-Shot asks if removing the fragment would stop the
rewinding on that day, or would completely eradicate the
timeline since the fragment arrived. Waspinator is not sure, but
insists that they retrieve the fragment after midnight. As night
falls, the Maximals return to the sacred grounds, and Snapjaw
phases the group underground. Waspinator heads towards the
fragment, but Paladin steps forward, swords drawn and stating
that he needs to know that things will be better once they take
the fragment. Waspinator reasons that, if the fragment has
caused this temporal rewind, then it is unlikely that events
will continue on with ‘tomorrow’ becoming yesterday. Paladin
raises a sword and states that he wants certainty; Waspinator
tells him that sometimes, people make mistakes, but on occasion
they are necessary. Giving in, Paladin steps aside and
Waspinator takes the fragment. The team head off, with
Waspinator and Scale trailing behind – Waspinator tells his
subordinate that he is not to kill an attacker as a first
resort, but Scale shrugs it off as ‘just another mistake’.
       Waspinator: Scale.
       Scale: Hm?
Waspinator: You’re not to kill anyone who attacks you as a first
       resort. That’s an order.
Scale: Heh. Sorry… it was just another mistake.

Episode 18 – Empire of Sand
       Airdate: Saturday 26th October 2013
       Synopsis: Waspinator is training by himself when Paladin enters;
the sword-wielding bot comments that he did not expect
Waspinator to be the one to train, but the leader notes that he
still needs to keep himself prepared, and likes to learn new
techniques. The Dawn Katana A.I. informs the crew that they
shall be landing on the planet Ra in five minutes.
       The ship comes to land amidst sand, outside of a large temple;
the A.I. notes that, thousands of years ago, Ra seeded its
culture across multiple planets, including Earth (where the
culture is now known as Ancient Egyptian), but since then it has
effectively vanished from the map. All the while, alien soldiers
gather outside of the ship, all armed with dangerous spears and
swords. Waspinator leads his team out, but before anything can
be done, a horn is blown and the soldiers form two inward-facing
lines. A Cybertronian walks between the lines, towards the
others – she asks the Maximals their business here. Waspinator
introduces himself and his team, and explains the destruction of
the Matrix, the scattering of fragments, and the fact that one
of the fragments is on this planet. The new bot introduces
herself as Mirage, the pharaoh of Ra, and that she has no
concern for the Matrix or the state of affairs amongst the
       Cybertronians.
Mirage: I see. My name is Mirage, ninth pharaoh of the Modern
Osiris Kingdom of the planet Ra, and I could not care less about
the Matrix of Leadership or the off-world squabbles between our
       kind.
She clicks her fingers, and the soldiers take the Maximals
captive; she heads back towards the temple, with the soldiers
bringing the Maximals after her. Snapjaw sarcastically
congratulates Waspinator on his victory, and the hornet-bot
explains that they will only cause trouble if they go against
Mirage – she seems reasonable enough to discuss with
diplomatically. As Mirage seats herself in her throne, she
explains to the six that they shall serve as slaves, and Snapjaw
gives Waspinator a dark glare. Waspinator insists that their
mission is of the utmost importance, and Mirage claims that she
will try and fulfil it for them… as she intends on leaving in
their ship. Cross-Shot and Paladin become angered at this, and
Waspinator reiterates that the Matrix is reality’s only hope.
Waspinator: Please, our mission is so, so important. We can’t be
delayed, and we definitely can’t be enslaved here.
Mirage: And I’ll make sure to fulfil it for you. Your ship
should be able to show me the way, I imagine? Ah well, I’ll have
time to figure it out once I leave this planet in it.
       Cross-Shot: What?!
Paladin: You’d trade off such an important mission for your own
       desires?
Waspinator: Mirage, listen to me. The Matrix is the only thing
that can stop a very powerful evil from plunging all of reality
into chaos. We need to restore it.
As Mirage sighs, a troop of soldiers enter, and their leader
states that the Kendrills are advancing. The pharaoh orders them
to bring in more soldiers, has some of her people prepare the
Dawn Katana for her, and others give the Maximals tasks, except
for Waspinator. Instead, she beckons for him to follow her.
The Maximals are set the task of cleaning out one of the large
halls within the temple; Scale states that he had a feeling that
joining the Maximals would lead him to something like this,
while Prophecy rushes around with a mop.
Scale: I used to be a mercenary, you know. I should have known
that joining the Maximals would leave me in a position like
this, I had a niggling feeling from the start.
Prophecy: Wheeeeeeee! Look, look, this is the coolest invention
ever! It just slides along the floor and it’s like a stick with
       hair!
Cross-Shot and Paladin discuss the ominous conversation about
the Kendrills, and ponder offering to assist the soldiers
against them. Waspinator and Mirage enter the latter’s chamber,
which includes some basic computers, a CR chamber and old books
on stargazing. Mirage presses her hand to his head, and comments
that he is far older than he appears. She asks if he is immortal
       – he confirms that he is, and she asks how it makes him feel.
After a moment of hesitation, he states that he is so very tired
of life, but that he still continues to find new reasons to
       live.
       Mirage: You’re immortal, aren’t you?
       Waspinator: Yes.
Mirage: What does it feel like? How does it make you feel?
Waspinator: … I… I’m tired. So very tired of everything. I’ve
been here too long. But then… the more I live, the more reasons
I find to keep on living. It’s strange… you’d have to be
       immortal to understand.
He then asks how she knew of his immortality, and she explains
that the planet’s fragment is in her and has granted her
psychometric abilities… abilities which she has been struggling
to control. However, she insists that she has no reason to help
the Maximals. She has served Ra more than long enough, and is
ready to leave. Since the planet lost its space-faring
technology around four thousand years ago, she has been
stranded. Waspinator responds that, as the representative of the
Maximals’ duty, he cannot allow her own desires to disrupt his
       mission.
Mirage: I’ve served this planet and its people for long enough,
and then some. It’s time. I’m done. You and your ship have
brought me an opportunity that’s been lost to this planet for
four thousand years. I haven’t left this planet in all that
time. So I’m taking this opportunity with both hands.
Waspinator: And I respect that. But as the representative of the
Maximals’ duty to the universe and everything beyond it, I
cannot allow one person and her desires get in the way of this
       mission.
Cross-Shot and Paladin, having sneaked out of the temple in
beast mode, find one of the soldiers from the Kendrill-fighting
troop. They offer their services, noting that they are both
warriors of peace and justice, but the soldier notes that the
fight against the Kendrills is purely for the people of Ra to
fight. Paladin asks how many of their people have already
fallen, and the soldier reluctantly allows the two to join the
       outgoing troop.
Mirage informs Waspinator that she is willing to relieve him of
his duties and take them up herself upon leaving, and Waspinator
instead suggests that she leaves with them. At this, she laughs
in his face, stating that she would never stoop as low as to
       serve under anyone else.
Mirage: I really will take up your responsibility when I leave.
Believe me, I’m not the type to let important tasks go.
Waspinator: Then… why don’t you leave with us? Join my crew?
Mirage: Ahahahahahaha! Wh-What? Hahaha! You- haha- you honestly
believe I would ever bow down to someone? You think I’d stoop
that low? No wonder they put you in charge of this mission –
       you’re driven by fantasy!
The troop leader from before knocks, and informs Mirage that two
of the Maximals have put themselves forward to join the conflict
against the Kendrills. Angered, Mirage heads out, with
Waspinator in tow; he jokes that even if she joined, she would
not have to obey him, as half of the team at present do not.
Almost as soon as the three exit the temple, a large
scorpion-like cyborg creature bursts from the ground, firing on
them and killing the troop leader. Damaged, Mirage explains to
an equally-damaged Waspinator that the creature is a Kendrill.
Nodding, he activates his faceplate and emulates the Kendrill’s
blaster claws. As he goes to charge forward, Mirage stops him,
and the Kendrill starts to attack an empty spot nearby. Mirage
explains that her name is derived from her natural ability to
cast illusions. As Cross-Shot and Paladin trek through the
desert, Snapjaw, Prophecy and Scale join them, with Snapjaw
yelling at them for heading off alone, especially when Snapjaw
has intangibility. The two note that they escaped to help, not
       just to not work.
Paladin: I think you’re missing the point here. We escaped
because we wanted to help. Knowing you, you’d just want to get
out so you didn’t have to clean.
Snapjaw: … and your point is?
Kendrills start to attack, ploughing down soldiers with ease,
and the Maximals start fighting them. As Waspinator asks Mirage
if she honestly has no desire to join his team, she states that
she is no one’s underling. As she steps out towards the desert,
another Kendrill bursts from the ground and fires furiously at
her; Waspinator returns fire and manages to blast two of its
eyes out and force it into retreat. Turning to the flaming spot
where Mirage was, he sees her rise from the flames, insanely
damaged but still functioning. Looking at him scornfully, she
tells him not to look as she heads back off to her chamber, as
he notes to himself that she is immortal.

       Episode 19 – Forevermore
       Airdate: Saturday 2nd November 2013
Synopsis: Centuries ago. A younger Waspinator is in an
infirmary, heavily-damaged and barely conscious. A medic informs
him that he will need to rest; the then-Predacon, in his buggy
voice, asks how he has managed to survive, and the medic
explains that, as best as their tests show, he has an
       indestructible spark.
Cross-Shot, Snapjaw, Prophecy, Scale and Paladin, along with a
number of Ra soldiers, are under attack from a large group of
Kendrills. While the Maximals manage to hold their own, the
native soldiers are quickly being disposed of; as Paladin is
ambushed by a Kendrill, Scale uses kunai and shuriken to remove
the scorpion-like beast’s pincer arms. Paladin thanks the former
mercenary, who does not respond, instead continuing to attack
the Kendrill. Meanwhile, Waspinator returns to Mirage’s
chambers; he knocks, and cautiously opens the door, seeing
Mirage stood barely-conscious in her CR chamber. Exploring the
room, he opens one of the astronomy books, and finds that it is
full of hand-written annotations and notes. Mirage starts
talking to him, first telling him to get out, then stating that
she has always been fascinated by the night sky.
       Mirage: Get out.
Waspinator: *surprised, turns to her* I’m sorry?
Mirage: No one invited you in. I’ve… always been fascinated by
the sky at night. The stars… the patterns and art that they
make… the worlds that are out there, just waiting for me.
Waspinator once again offers that she joins his team, but she
refuses. Instead, she tells him that she will need his help in
dealing with the Kendrills, and when he asks her why he should
help, she remarks that he is a hero – there is no way he can
refuse. She steps out of the CR chamber, repaired, and heads out
with Waspinator begrudgingly following, but as she touches the
door, she tenses up. Waspinator figures that this is her
psychometry playing up, and she responds that his emulation is
likely of the same origin. Smirking at him, she leads him back
out of the temple. As the other Maximals continue fighting, one
of the soldiers blows a horn, which Prophecy declares to be an
       emergency call. As if in response, even more Kendrills appear;
Prophecy quips that the Kendrills must be the emergency
services, which manages to leave the Maximals speechless until
       the Kendrills start to attack.
Prophecy: By the way, that horn is an emergency call.
       Snapjaw: “By the way”?
*several more Kendrills appear from below the ground*
Prophecy: … I guess the Kendrills are the emergency services,
       huh~?
*the other Maximals share awkward glances*
Cross-Shot goes to assist the horn-blowing soldier, but one of
the Kendrills runs him through with its tail before diving below
       the sand again.
A few citizens are taking away the troop leader’s body from
outside of the temple as Waspinator and Mirage investigate the
tunnels that the two Kendrills made, which have now partially
collapsed. Mirage notes that the Kendrills seem to appear in
lower numbers at further distances from a certain area. The area
is where many of her troops – as well as the two Maximals
reported by the troop leader – are fighting. Her belief is that
the Kendrills have a nest or hive beneath that area, and the
tunnels should lead them there directly, without them having to
travel above ground. Waspinator is unsure if they can use the
tunnels, but Mirage transforms into her Egyptian jackal mode and
quickly re-opens the entrance fully. As a Kendrill attempts to
crush Prophecy with its claw, the fembot generates an energy
sphere around herself which she gradually increases in size,
first halting the claw, then breaking it, and finally removing
the entire arm. Paladin is impressed by this display, and
Snapjaw remarks that Prophecy is most likely the most powerful
of them all – she just forgets what powers she has.
Paladin: Whoa. I didn’t realise she could do that.
Snapjaw: She’s probably more powerful than all of us.
       Paladin: Really?
Snapjaw: Yeah. Would help if she remembered what powers she has
       a little more often…
Cross-Shot alerts the other Maximals that they are the only ones
alive and conscious, while even more Kendrills appear.
Waspinator and Mirage continue through the tunnel, in beast
mode, and Mirage ponders aloud if any of her soldiers have
survived, and Waspinator remarks that it is just one of the many
       taints of immortality.
Mirage: This conflict has gone on for too long. Even the fight
right now… how many of my soldiers are still alive? How many are
       going to make it?
Waspinator: And you have to watch on, right? That’s why
immortality isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
They reach the nest, entering through a large hole and finding
it to be a metallic construct. Mirage quickly realises that it
is an ancient ship, and rushes off to check on the engines,
Waspinator in-tow. When the two reach the engines, they find
them not only dilapidated, but swarming with Kendrills. The
creatures awaken, and Waspinator and Mirage flee.
Hurrying into a large room, Waspinator and Mirage blockade the
door, before noticing that they are in a laboratory. Analysing
the content (Mirage using her psychometry), the two realise that
the Kendrills were an experiment being tested on Ra, which got
out of control. Mirage comments that she can vaguely recall the
ship sinking into the sand, but the experiment would have been
considered illegal. She bitterly adds that the ship is obviously
beyond repair, but if they explode the force-pulse engines, they
can destroy the entire ship. Waspinator notes that she had hoped
that the ship was usable, and suggests that she does not want to
take the Dawn Katana from the Maximals, but the pharaoh remarks
that she simply dislikes their ship.
Mirage: This ship is beyond ruins. Nothing my people can do
could repair it. But those engines were force-pulse engines.
They don’t require fuel to be activated. If we cause them to
detonate, we can destroy the entire ship and get rid of all of
the Kendrills still inside. It won’t kill the ones outside, but…
Waspinator: You wanted this ship to be functional, though,
right? I could see the hope. You don’t want to take our ship
       away from us, do you?
Mirage: Don’t flatter yourself. Why would I want your ship? It’s
just the only choice I have.
Above ground, the other Maximals are beginning to be overwhelmed
by the Kendrills, as their endurance is worn down. As Waspinator
and Mirage rush across a high platform towards the ancient
       ship’s bridge, they are attacked from below by Kendrills;
Waspinator’s wings are damaged and he is knocked off of the
platform, with Mirage saving him. As he hangs from the platform,
she demands to know how to control her fragment-given power like
him, and he says that he will tell her if she joins his team. At
a stalemate, and still being fired upon, she confesses that,
unlike him, she has no reasons to continue living. Immortality
is a prison to her. Waspinator tells her that travelling alone
will not help that, and Mirage pulls him up onto the platform
       again.
Mirage: Right. Tell me how you learnt to control your emulation
ability, or I let you drop and detonate this ship with you
       inside.
Waspinator: Join my crew and I’ll tell you.
Mirage: Do you think I’m that desperate?
Waspinator: Maybe, but I’m sure you wouldn’t let me rot here for
       that.
       Mirage: Prove it.
*they remain there, Mirage still holding Waspinator’s arm, while
       Kendrills fire at them*
Mirage: … you hate yourself, don’t you?
       Waspinator: Yes.
Mirage: What reason could you possibly have for that? You keep
finding reasons to live. That’s what you said. What about me?
I’ve been stuck here for so long that I don’t have anything left
to live for! Who are you to feel so hateful? I’m living a life
       of nothingness!
Waspinator: And travelling the stars all by yourself is going to
       change that?
       Mirage: It’s a start.
       Waspinator: It’s not enough.
       Mirage: … but…
Waspinator: Come with me. Come with us. Please.
*after a moment, Mirage pulls him back onto the platform*
They enter the bridge, and put the force-pulse engines at 100%.
The ship quickly starts to vibrate, and Waspinator contacts
Snapjaw. A moment later, the hyena-bot phases into the bridge,
grabbing the two and dragging them to the surface, just as the
ship explodes, churning the ground up. The remaining Kendrills
scatter, as the Maximals recover and Mirage mourns her lost
soldiers. She informs Waspinator that she will allow them to
leave, and will be accompanying them, asking only that he allow
her time to appoint a new pharaoh. Waspinator warmly accepts
       this.

       Episode 20 – Winning Streak
       Airdate: Saturday 9th November 2013
Synopsis: Mirage is relaxing in her room, upgraded like the
others; Cross-Shot, Snapjaw and Paladin are in the recreation
room, discussing their dislike and mistrust of the new
       team-member. Cross-Shot suddenly jolts, noticing a fragment,
although the sensation of it is unusual and weaker than normal.
The Dawn Katana lands down in the spaceport of Kekda, a major
city on the Thrid continent of planet Numes. The ship’s A.I.
explains that the civilisation here is complex and varied,
similar to that of Cybertron or Earth, but that Kekda
specialises in vehicular manufacture and testing. Cross-Shot
notes that the fragment is hard to trace, as there is so much
background noise in the bustling city. The team heads off,
although it takes a moment for Waspinator to realise that Mirage
is still onboard. The former-pharaoh states that she will sit
this one out, but Waspinator insists she come with them,
practically dragging her out of the ship.
       Waspinator: … Mirage.
       Mirage: Oh, you’re still here?
       Waspinator: That’s my line.
Mirage: Well I thought I’d sit this one out.
Waspinator: It doesn’t work like that.
       Mirage: My, such strong leadership.
Waspinator: *taking her wrist and leading her out* Come on. Now.
Mirage: Fine, fine. No reason not to.
As the two catch up with the rest of the team, they find a
cordoned-off shopping centre; Waspinator asks a senior police
officer what has happened, and he explains that a murderer has
committed his tenth crime in three weeks. Amidst the arid plains
of the planet Maradon, the Archaicons are restoring an abandoned
military base. Scorpinax is fitting security cameras, when
Lacerator approaches him, informing him that he is not to have
the feeds directly routed to his computer systems.
Lacerator: Dinobot and I are aware of your large number of
computer systems. A word of warning: you are not to have the
camera feeds routed directly to them. These cameras are for my
       use, not yours.
The shady bot claims to not be intending on it; as Lacerator
leaves, he plants a chip in the current camera, with a
‘V-system’ icon on it. As the Maximals circuit the cordoned
area, Cross-Shot notes that there is definitely a trace in this
area. A young officer approaches them – he introduces himself as
Feru Brenod, and notes that his senior sent him to them.
Waspinator explains his team’s situation, including the fact
that a fragment coming into contact with someone or something
incites changes, and the senior officer approaches, noting his
pride in Feru’s recent achievements. He tells the Maximals that
Feru aced his training and exams, and has been performing
brilliantly within his first few weeks of service. Feru humbly
thanks his senior, as the older officer leaves the Maximals
       under Feru’s watch.
As the Archaicons continue their restoration, Huntdown and
Airazor work on repairing a signal spire. Airazor bemoans the
task, pointing out that it is within Scorpinax’s area of
expertise, but Huntdown states that they are simply restoring
the structure, and Scorpinax will be reworking the inner
       circuitry afterwards.
Airazor: This is stupid. Getting me to waste my precious time on
fixing this hunk of scrap… Scorpinax is the signals bot, he
should be the one fixing the ‘signal spire’…
Huntdown: Exactly, he’s the signals bot. We fix up basic
structure, and he reworks the circuitry inside. The actual
       signal-related bit.
Relenting, Airazor instead asks Huntdown why he joined the
Archaicons; he explains that he had simply grown tired of the
conflicting nature of the Maximals and Predacons, but so far,
the Archaicons have not been providing anything as a true
alternative. He airs his hope that progress shall be made now
that they have a permanent base. The Maximals, propose the
possibility that Feru possesses a fragment – flustered by this,
Feru notes that, until recently, he had been failing in his
attempts to enter the force. Cross-Shot is unsure, but as
Waspinator brings out the fragment extractor, Feru backs away,
unwilling to surrender his new success.
Feru: No, please, I can’t… if this fragment thing is why I’ve
been so successful, I can’t just let it go…
Elsewhere on the planet, a lone female is running through
alleyways, being chased by an aggressive-looking male. The
female trips, and cowers as the male approaches… only to
suddenly appear as Mirage, smirking. She attacks the alien,
bringing him to the ground, and asks his identity – he states
that he is Sammo Drell, and demands to know what is going on.
Mirage explains that she is here on business, and has reason to
believe that Sammo is involved. He lashes out at her, breaking
her concentration; the ‘her’ with the other Maximals vanishes,
and Waspinator curses, and sends Scale and Paladin to find
Mirage. The two head off, and Feru follows after, stating that
he refuses to give up the first success that he has ever had.
Annoyed, Waspinator leads Cross-Shot, Snapjaw and Prophecy after
       the others.
Mirage and Sammo continue fighting, with Mirage mostly holding
the upper-hand, but Sammo having more physical power. The moment
that Sammo is distracted, Mirage generates an illusion of
herself, with Sammo fighting it while she hides nearby. The
other Maximals and Feru arrive, approaching Mirage and breaking
her concentration. Sammo notices the group and starts to run
off, but Feru follows after to apprehend him. Waspinator scolds
Mirage, who teasingly asks if he is sure that he still wants her
       on the team.
Waspinator: Damn it, Mirage, don’t just sneak off!
Mirage: You still want me on your team, right? You were ever so
       insistent.
As Feru catches up to Sammo and tackles him to the ground,
Mirage approaches from behind, asking Feru how long he has been
in the force for. Feru states that it has been around two
months. She then asks how long Sammo has been murdering people,
and the officer answers with three weeks. Finally, Mirage asks
how proud the senior officer is of Feru.
Mirage: Last question. That senior officer of yours… just how
       proud is he of you?
Realising what she means, Feru backs down. Waspinator demands to
know what Mirage is doing, as she pulls him over to Sammo, and
suggests that he remove the fragment. Confused, the leader holds
       the extractor to Sammo’s chest, and a fragment is removed;
Sammo’s disposition instantly changes, and he shows immediate
remorse for his actions. Mirage explains, in no gentle terms,
that Feru was allowed into the force despite his consistently
poor results. The senior officer saw potential in him, and
convinced the others to let him in. This all occurred before the
destruction of the Matrix. On the other hand, Sammo’s murders
occurred within the last few weeks. Cross-Shot had detected
residual ‘noise’ from the fragment in the cordoned area. Mirage
states that you do not need to be a police officer to work it
out, and heads off to the ship. Feru solemnly states that he
will deal with Sammo, and the Maximals head off. Dinobot watches
Sickleclaw training with her sword, pleased with her work.
Dinobot: Excellent, child. Your progress is remarkable.
Lacerator asks what they shall be doing next, and he states that
they must map out all the major areas of conflict… and intercept
       them.

       Episode 21 – Sickness
       Airdate: Saturday 16th November 2013
Synopsis: Cross-Shot and Scale co-pilot the Dawn Katana, while
Prophecy sits nearby, humming and painting on the floor.
Suddenly, Prophecy stands up, and wonders where the rest of the
painting is. Her team-mates are confused, but the ship’s A.I.
breaks the tension by informing them that they are five minutes
from their next destination… the planet Bute.
As the ship lands down, the Maximals note a thick mist across
the surface. Waspinator has the A.I. scan the contents, finding
it unnerving, while the rest of the team wait in the bridge…
minus Mirage, who Waspinator heads off to locate. Prophecy
starts searching for the rest of her painting, while the other
Maximals talk amongst themselves. Waspinator reaches Mirage’s
quarters, and lets himself in, finding her stargazing via the
celestial holo-map on her ceiling. He informs her that they are
about to set off on another mission, and she wishes them luck.
Waspinator: Mirage. We’ve landed. We’re about to head off.
Mirage: I see. Good luck with that.
Annoyed, he points out that she is part of the team, and must
work with them, but the former-pharaoh points out that he hardly
has control over the rest of his team. Waspinator suggests she
set an example for the others; before she can answer, a knocking
resounds on the wall. Surprised, the two confirm that it is an
exterior wall, and Mirage deactivates the holo-map and uncovers
the window. Only mist is visible. Mirage turns to Waspinator,
smirking, and heads off to the bridge with him in tow. As they
enter, the ship’s A.I. states that he has finished the analysis
       – the mist is carrying a dangerous airborne virus, and it is
covering the entire planet. The virus appears to be an unknown
type – Paladin logically concludes that the planet’s fragment
has evolved the virus, and Snapjaw proposes that the mist is a
       by-product of infection.
Paladin: I can’t imagine that a single fragment could create a
virus, so assumedly, the virus was already here. In which case,
maybe the fragment… if this is to do with the fragment… evolved
the virus in some way? Made it more potent?
Snapjaw: And if the mist is connected to the virus, it’s likely
a by-product of the infection. A by-product that matches the
optimum conditions for them to live in outside of another
organism. A virus that uses the by-products of its life-cycle as
a means of living… in such a short span of time, it would
surprise me if this wasn’t fragment-related.
Waspinator asks how dangerous it is to Cybertronian life, and
the ship states that it will likely be fatal after fifteen
minutes of exposure. Mirage suggests they simply have Prophecy
generate energy shields for them, but Waspinator is unsure if
she would be able to maintain them long enough with her
attention span. He asks Cross-Shot to head to a quiet area and
focus on the precise location of the fragment, and they shall
fly to it. Knocking suddenly resounds from below.
The Maximals assume that the knocking is from native sentient
beings, but the ship quickly informs them that there are no
living macro-organisms in the vicinity. After a moment, Scale
suggests that the virus has gained a sense of sentience and is
controlling the dead bodies. Knocking starts to resound from the
front windows – the mist is too heavy to be able to see clearly,
but vaguely-humanoid shapes are visible. Waspinator orders the
Dawn Katana to activate the serration field, and a sharp energy
field spreads along the cross-section of the ship, slicing
through the “zombies”. Cross-Shot and Paladin are angered, but
Scale points out that the people are already dead and will still
be so even when they take the fragment.
Paladin: Damn it, be careful! Those are still civilian bodies!
Cross-Shot: Exactly, there has to be another way!
Scale: Pipe down. If the virus is using them, they’re already
dead. Even taking the fragment isn’t going to bring them back.
Paladin curses this, and Waspinator insists that Cross-Shot
attempt to focus as best as she can in-spite of the knocking.
The archer heads off, while the others ponder how best to deal
with the attackers. Prophecy suggests communicating with them,
if the virus really is controlling them – Snapjaw comments that
this is a good idea, for once, but Prophecy adds that she wishes
to ask them where the rest of her painting went.
Prophecy: Couldn’t we just find a way of communicating with the
       virus?
Snapjaw: … huh. I guess there’s a blue moon here. She actually
had a smart idea for on-
Prophecy: Then we can ask them if they know where the rest of my
       painting is!
       Snapjaw: Nevermind.
The ship starts to analyse a method of communication, although
Mirage points out that the only thing they can tell the virus is
that they aim to regress it back to its simple state – which it
will most likely not want to hear. Cross-Shot focuses on
locating the fragment, deeply sensing it, but is thrown off by
knocking below her. Regaining herself, she just about manages to
pin-point the fragment, and rushes back to the bridge. More
“zombies” clamber onto the ship, and it again uses its serration
field to ward some of them off. Cross-Shot re-enters and states
the coordinates; the ship flies itself towards that destination,
with “zombies” holding on all the while.
       As the ship approaches a lake, “zombies” fall from its hull;
inside, the Maximals work out their plan of action. Cross-Shot
explains that the fragment is buried in a fissure in the lake’s
bed, and Snapjaw states that the virus likely originated in the
fissure, and will be living in the lake too. At this, everyone
looks at him expectantly, and he groans.
Cross-Shot: The fragment is deep down at the bottom of the lake.
There’s a fissure venting from below the planet’s surface.
Snapjaw: The virus probably lived in that fissure. An
extremophile… I think that’s the word. That mist of theirs must
be a necessity then. And it probably permeates the lake…
*everyone looks at him, knowing that he is the only one capable
       of going into the lake*
       Snapjaw: … *realises, groans*
Waspinator notes that, while Snapjaw can become intangible, he
may not be able to control it well enough that the virus passes
through him – not to mention, the fragment extractor and the
fragment will be carrying the virus. Prophecy sings that
Waspinator can emulate the virus’ genetic signature and they
will avoid him, and once the fragment is extracted, the virus
will be harmless and easily purged. Agreeing to this, Waspinator
has Snapjaw him through the ship – he lands in the water,
immediately feeling the virus surrounding him in the water.
Focusing, and using his Fibonacci spiral to help, he mimics
their genetic signature. He starts to swim down as the other
Maximals wait aboard the ship, “zombies” on top of the ship
still knocking. Reaching the fissure, Waspinator gets the
fragment extractor and draws out the fragment – the “zombies”
instantly collapse, tumbling into the lake, while Waspinator
ascends. He knocks a rhythm on the bottom of the ship, stops
emulating the virus, and Snapjaw phases him back on-board.
Prophecy immediately touches Waspinator’s hand and the fragment
extractor with one hand, and clicks her fingers with the other
hand – a shimmer of light passes over Waspinator and the
extractor, and the walls become visibly covered in a large
painting. Impressed, Prophecy notes that this is where the rest
       of her painting was.
Prophecy: Ah, I see, I see. That’s where the rest of my painting
       was after all.
Content, she walks out of the bridge, humming, as the other
Maximals look at the painting… they realise that it depicts
them, along with four other bots, and a number of different
locations, leading to a strange object with a halo of light
       around it.

Episode 22 – The Beast of Kerritol
       Airdate: Saturday 23rd November 2013
Synopsis: Waspinator sits in the bridge of the Dawn Katana,
looking at Prophecy’s painting, when Cross-Shot joins him. He
points out that Tidal Wave, Howlback and Buzzstreak are also on
the painting; that means that the picture is no guarantee that
the current crew will all make it to strange object. Cross-Shot
assures him not to worry about it, and puts in new coordinates –
the ship states that it is the planet Kerritol.
On the streets of Kerritol, a buzz is in the air. The Herenian
Tournament is being held here, a sporting event where beings
from the local systems compete. A young bot walks down the
street, only to bump into someone. Initially apologetic, they
turn dark once noticing who they have bumped into, and the bot
scurries out of the way, knocking into and bringing down a pile
of boxes instead. Awkward and repeatedly apologising, the bot
causes some of the boxes to float around.
Wildfire: Err, uhm, sorry, I didn’t mean to- so-sorry, really,
sorry, I don’t know why, they just, y’know, they float and I’m
       sorry, I’m really sorry!
The nearby workers shoe him away, referring to him only as a
brat – he pointlessly states that his name is Wildfire. As he
enters a quiet café, he notices a news report on a television
screen, watching the athletes from Saimo leaving their
spaceship. The reporter points out that Swingback, the most
famous of Saimo’s athletes, is not with them, apparently having
chosen to make her own way to Kerritol. Someone asks if he is
waiting for anyone; the young bot automatically apologises,
standing up, but the new arrival laughs, telling him to relax
and pushing him back into his seat. She sits down opposite him,
and starts browsing the café’s drinks, noting that she is
desperate for a drink. As the news report continues to discuss
Swingback, Wildfire slowly realises that the bot sat opposite
him is Swingback herself. Suddenly tongue-tied, he tries to
introduce himself; Swingback just laughs, calling him sweet, and
heads off to buy a drink.
Wildfire: BAH! You’re the she on the sceletision vreen- I mean
the athlete from the- you’re a Swingback- you’re THE Swingback-
I mean- the- err, I’m Fildwire- gah, I mean Mildpire- th-that
       is-
Swingback: *laughs* Y’know, you’re a sweet kid. Stay right here,
       I’m gonna grab a drink!
The news starts to cover another story – a mysterious attack the
previous night, by an unidentified assailant rumoured to be a
creature. Swingback returns, handing Wildfire a drink; he takes
it, awkwardly but thankfully, and manages to properly introduce
himself. She shakes his hand, and notes that she is thankful to
meet someone who does not become star-struck at meeting her. As
they continue talking, Wildfire relaxes more; all the while, the
Dawn Katana flies through the sky.
The Maximals are informed of the Herenian Tournament by the
Dawn Katana, and Cross-Shot states that the fragment here
appears to be more powerful. The group disembark, and Cross-Shot
starts to lead them towards the fragment. Wildfire and Swingback
finish their drinks, and Swingback hands Wildfire her contact
details – the mech is flustered, but Swingback clarifies that
       it’s just as a friend.
       Swingback: Here, have this.
       *she hands him a note*
       Wildfire: What… what is it?
       Swingback: My contact details.
Wildfire: *coughs on his final gulp of drink* C-Contact? You’re
       a girl a-and-
Swingback: *leans in, smirking seductively* Yes? “And”?
Wildfire: *practically squeaking now* A-And I-I’m me, and
       y-y-you’re a girl…
Swingback: *ruffles his hair, laughing* Calm down, champ. It’s
only as a friend. You can handle that much, right?
Wildfire is nevertheless happy to have a new friend, and the two
part ways. Cross-Shot notes that the sensation of the fragment
is starting to divide… as if it is not twice as powerful, but
two fragments. Waspinator tells her to track the closer
fragment, and they rush off. Swingback walks through the
back-alleys, her smile fading until she collapses against the
wall in exhaustion. The Maximals manage to locate Wildfire, and
follow him; noticing the strange bots following him, the young
bot increases his pace, but it all comes to nothing as Prophecy
pounces at him, tackling him to the ground and introducing
       herself.
Prophecy: Hai! I’m Prophecy and my name is Prophecy!
The others introduce themselves too, and Waspinator explains
their mission, all while objects – including an excited Prophecy
       – start to float around and bump into one another. Realising,
Wildfire becomes frantic, apologising and explaining that he has
recently developed uncontrollable telekinesis. Mirage states
that this is likely connected to the fragment. Cross-Shot asks
who he was with recently, as they too have a fragment. Wildfire
gets out Swingback’s contact details and tries to call her, but
finds that he cannot reach her. The Maximals state that it does
not matter, and Waspinator sends Cross-Shot, Snapjaw, Scale and
Mirage off to find Swingback, while he, Prophecy and Paladin
stay with Wildfire. Waspinator prepares to remove Wildfire’s
fragment, but the younger bot freaks out and his telekinesis
plays up, throwing the three Maximals across the street.
At a local spaceport, the Archaicon ship has landed. Dinobot
leads his inner circle and a small number of other bots out into
the streets, recapping that they need to find any bots at this
large event that share their view of the Maximals and Predacons.
He splits his team into three; he and Scorpinax, Sickleclaw and
Airazor, Huntdown and Lacerator, each with some of the lower
Archaicons. They head out across the city. Meanwhile,
Cross-Shot, Snapjaw, Scale and Mirage track down Swingback, only
to hear screams – citizens rushing past scream of a monster, and
the four head in the direction of the screaming, Wildfire
following not far behind them. Huntdown, Lacerator and their
team also hear the screaming; Huntdown insists on investigating,
but Lacerator tells him that it is not their concern.
       Huntdown: That doesn’t sound good.
       Lacerator: Precisely.
Huntdown: We should look into it.
Lacerator: It doesn’t sound good. What would we gain from
entering danger while on a simple mission?
Huntdown: We’re supposed to be the good guys.
Lacerator: The petty affairs of a back-water world are none of
       our concern, Huntdown.
As the Maximals reach the source of the screams, they find a
dark alley. Scale throws a light grenade in, but the ‘monster’
flees before it can be seen. Cross-Shot claims that the fragment
is within the beast… making it Wildfire’s friend. A moment
later, Wildfire himself rushes past them and down the alley,
yelling that Swingback may be in danger. Cross-Shot heads after
him, with the other three following. Waspinator contacts Mirage,
asking what is happening, but she tells him it can wait and
       closes the link.
Waspinator: Mirage, this is Waspinator. Status report?
Mirage: Shh, we’re busy. I’ll tell you later.
       *she closes the comm.-link*
Wildfire reaches the other end of the alley, finding an enclosed
space where the monster lurks in the evening shadow. The young
bot looks around, calling out for Swingback as the Maximals
approach from behind. Cross-Shot tells Wildfire to step back,
but he refuses, stating that he needs to find Swingback.
Snarling, the monster charges, dodging fire from the Maximals,
and it is only Wildfire’s telekinesis that manages to keep the
monster a few inches from his face. Out of the darkness, its
identity is clear… Swingback, bestial and feral. Confused and
upset, Wildfire asks what is going on.

       Episode 23 – Missing
       Airdate: Saturday 30th November 2013
Synopsis: The feral Swingback writhes against Wildfire’s fragile
telekinetic hold, as the younger bot continues to ask what is
going on. Scale walks over, knocking Swingback unconscious,
which Wildfire is angered by, claiming that she did not do
anything and must be possessed, but Cross-Shot explains that it
is the work of a fragment.
Waspinator, Prophecy and Paladin head off towards the location
of the others, Waspinator complaining about Mirage, when they
notice Dinobot, Scorpinax and a group of Archaicons not too far
away; that group notices the Maximal trio, too. Waspinator tells
Prophecy and Paladin to continue on – as they do, Prophecy
       explains the Archaicons to Paladin.
       Paladin: Archaicons?
       Prophecy: Yeah, y’know.
       Paladin: Vaguely.
Prophecy: They’re the other dudes besides those other dudes and
they’re not really evil but I don’t think we like them.
Paladin: Nevermind, I just read Waspinator’s mind instead…
The two leaders approach one another, and ask one another their
business on Kerritol. Dinobot remarks that he has no intention
of attacking the Maximals – yet – but his Archaicons may not
have such qualms. Waspinator asks if his former ally would
really risk causing chaos in a bustling city, but the Archaicon
leader notes that Kerritol could be the stage for the faction’s
true unveiling to the world. All the while, Scorpinax contacts
the other members of the inner circle; Sickleclaw and Airazor
immediately confront Prophecy and Paladin, and Huntdown prepares
to head off to find the others, although Lacerator insists on
awaiting confirmation from Dinobot. Wildfire tends to
Swingback’s unconscious body, while Mirage finally attempts to
contact Waspinator, sarcastically bemoaning events when he does
       not answer.
Mirage: *dramatic sigh* Honestly. He’s our leader, and he
doesn’t answer when we need him! Sooo disgraceful…
Cross-Shot suggests they head out to locate him, having Scale
accompany her while Snapjaw and Mirage remain to protect
Wildfire and Swingback. They head off, while Wildfire attempts
to wake Swingback, Snapjaw noting that it may not be the best
plan considering her previous state. Waspinator and Dinobot
continue their talk, with Dinobot pointing out the futility of
gathering the Matrix fragments and continuing down the same old
path. Waspinator in turn calls Dinobot out for giving up on his
morals, though Dinobot claims that it is the Maximal faction
       that has foregone its morals. At odds, Dinobot proposes a duel;
he draws his sword, and charges.
As Cross-Shot and Scale head through the city, Huntdown appears
in front of them. He greets them; Cross-Shot draws her bow and
sends Scale ahead, with Huntdown making no attempt to stop him.
The Archaicon asks Cross-Shot what the source of the noise is,
and she states that it is none of his concern. Elsewhere,
Paladin and Sickleclaw duel, Paladin proving his skill, while
Prophecy uses her powers to confuse and overwhelm an irritated
Airazor. Dinobot stumbles back, realising that Waspinator has
used the fragment extractor to block him… or rather, the
fragments attached to it, now aligned as a short blade.
Inspecting his new ‘weapon’, Waspinator claims that there is no
‘old path’ anymore, and that he will wield hope against anyone
       who stands in its way.
Waspinator: *inspecting the Matrix sword* Huh.
Dinobot: You choose to weaponise your trinkets?
Waspinator: No. You speak of the ‘old path’, but that was lost
the moment Necrocide came back… and the moment you destroyed the
Matrix. This blade represents hope. And I’ll wield this hope
against anyone who chooses to stand in its way.
Unperturbed, Dinobot charges again, and the two start to fight,
although Dinobot is remarkably more skilful. In the enclosed
courtyard, Swingback slowly awakens; Wildfire welcomes her back,
hugging her, and she apologises for her feral behaviour. Before
she can explain herself, Mirage chimes in, explaining for her
and noting that she went through the same ordeal with
psychometry. Swingback elaborates that she is sick of being an
athlete, but feels that there is no way for her to escape as
people adore her; she suspects her feral state to be connected
to her frustration. Smirking, Mirage suggests that they join the
Maximals; Snapjaw goes to state that Waspinator will not be
happy with her for inviting people along, only to realise that
       is exactly the point.
Mirage: You two should join us.
       Wildfire: Huh?
       Swingback: Really?
Snapjaw: … yeah, you do realise that Waspinator is NOT gonna be
ha- what am I saying, of course you know…
However, as Wildfire questions if he would be welcome, Mirage
sincerely states that, despite herself, she has never felt more
welcome in a team. Scale contacts her at that moment, explaining
that the Archaicons are here, and she asks Wildfire and
       Swingback if they are ready.
The crowds are starting to get riled up by the various fights
occurring; Dinobot orders Scorpinax to have Lacerator hold up
the other Maximals, and the signal-master passes the message on,
stating it is a direct order from Dinobot. Lacerator heads out,
her team in-tow. As Cross-Shot and Huntdown continue to fight,
she decries him as a traitor to justice, but he responds that
the war between Maximals and Predacons has ruined worlds in the
past – and that Dinobot has told him of an even greater, even
more destructive war. The Archaicons are aiming for a new path.
Cross-Shot snaps that if the path has grown dark, it should be
corrected, not abandoned, and that the Maximals can change.
Pinning her to a wall, Huntdown claims that all the Archaicons
want is justice, beyond fighting and slaughter.
       *as they fight*
Cross-Shot: You’re disgusting. It’s our duty, as a species, to
provide justice, and you join the Archaicons?
Huntdown: Our species is so wrapped up in war that it does more
harm than good. The Maximals and Predacons have torn worlds
apart in the past… and Dinobot has told us of an even greater
war. He said it’s turned whole galaxies to dust.
       Cross-Shot: That…
Huntdown: We’re paving a new path. That’s our aim. A new way.
Cross-Shot: No. If the path you’re on grows dark, you just work
to make it right again. You don’t just abandon it at the first
chance. That’s stupid. Trust me – trust us – we can change. We
       can fix it.
*Huntdown manages to pin her to a wall*
Huntdown: You can’t. That’s why we exist. You speak of justice…
but that’s what we want. It’s all we want. Without fighting, and
       without slaughter.
With that said, he leaves. Snapjaw, Mirage, Wildfire and
Swingback rush through the streets, only for spines to be
launched directly in front of them: Lacerator lands down,
greeting the Maximals, and stating that they shall not pass.
Mirage simply chuckles, and the other Maximals vanish –
illusions. She starts firing on Lacerator, who, taken aback,
does her best to block. Waspinator and Dinobot continue to
fight; as Scale reaches the area, Scorpinax and the other
Archaicons team up against him, though he manages to make many
of their weapons malfunction. With Dinobot over-powering
Waspinator, it is a surprise tackle from Wildfire that evens
things out – upgraded, and with blades on all four limbs.
Waspinator is shocked, but Snapjaw states that Mirage invited
       them onto the team, and he thought it best to upgrade them;
Swingback agrees, before entering her feral state and charging
at the Archaicons. With Wildfire also using his telekinesis,
Dinobot snarls and orders retreat. As a news camera focuses on
him, he announces the Archaicon faction to the universe, before
Transwarping to the ship, the others following.
Dinobot: … greetings to all out there amongst the stars. My name
is Dinobot… leader of the Archaicons. We shall save you from our
race’s chaos. We shall make things right.
Waspinator turns to Wildfire and Swingback, realising that they
are two of the figures from Prophecy’s painting, and welcomes
       them onto the team.

       Episode 24 – Other Vices
       Airdate: Saturday 7th December 2013
Synopsis: The Archaicons are back at their base on Maradon; in
his quarters, Scorpinax is watching and analysing signals, when
a ‘V’ appears on one of his numerous screens. The shady bot
       smirks, and accepts the signal.
The Dawn Katana is headed through space, with Cross-Shot and
Scale piloting. Waspinator is ranting at Mirage in her quarters,
though she does not seem to be paying any attention. Giving up –
for now – he heads out, and finds Paladin giving Wildfire and
Swingback a tour of the ship. Swingback is still taken aback by
the team’s mission, and Waspinator asks if she is really
comfortable with abandoning her athletic career. The fembot
notes that she claimed to have injured her leg. Waspinator then
turns to Paladin, asking if he can train him in swordsmanship.
Paladin agrees to, if somewhat apprehensively; just then,
Prophecy runs down the corridor, yelling that they have landed,
just as Scale announces as such.
       Prophecy: We’ve landed, we’ve landed, we’ve landed!
Scale: *over the intercom* We’ve landed.
       Prophecy: We have landed, baby!
The Vok image explains to Scorpinax that they require the
information that he has gathered; the Archaicon cuts it off,
noting that the information started sending the moment he loaded
the ‘V’ message. Almost impressed, the Vok explains that their
next requirement is for Scorpinax to select a vessel for their
essence. Scorpinax is confused, but accepts, closing the signal
and heading out. The Maximals are gathered in the bridge
(Snapjaw notes that it is almost getting crowded now) – the
ship’s A.I. explains that the planet, Sprin, is a primordial,
volcanic world. The fragment is located in a small but volatile
volcano. Waspinator has the team prepare to head out, although
Mirage notes that, at this point, dragging the entire team out
       is wasteful and not tactical.
       Waspinator: Okay, is everyone ready?
Mirage: Everyone? There are nine of us now. Wouldn’t it be more
worthwhile only having some of us go out? Not to mention more
       tactical.
The leader retorts that he wishes for the bots to improve their
teamwork. All the while, Wildfire watches the molten world from
the window, amazed. Waspinator leads the team out, though they
quickly find the ground beyond the ship to be unstable. With a
lava stream leading from the volcano, Waspinator suggests they
travel upstream from rock to rock, coordinating their movements
to best aid one another. Snapjaw quips that this is not a video
game, but the rest of the team begin setting off without
       question.
Scorpinax heads into the courtyard of the Archaicon base, where
many of the bots are training or talking. Surveying them,
Scorpinax is unimpressed, and goes to look elsewhere, only for a
fairly scrawny mech to bump into him. The bot flippantly
apologises, and continues on his way, only for Scorpinax to
transform and use his front limbs to trap the bot, dragging him
back. Unconcerned, the Archaicon asks if he can be let go, and
Scorpinax returns to robot mode, asking the bot his name.
Introducing himself as Hatchet, the lower-ranked mech heads off
again, remarking that he prefers to train alone. Scorpinax
smirks to himself, as Airazor pops up, asking for assistance
with some refurbishment work. The eurypterid-bot utterly ignores
him, heading off as Airazor complains.
Airazor: Hey, so, I’ve been tasked with reworking some of the
weapon chambers, and I was thinking, you’ve got 25% more limbs
than me in beast mode – no, wait, I think I got that wrong…
anyway, it’s tiring for me, so how about you do it?
       *Scorpinax turns and walks off*
Airazor: Or just help me! 80-20? … 79-21? I won’t go any higher
than 30% of the work! That’s a slaggin’ bargain! Damn it! I’m
       too important for this scrap!
The Maximals continue to travel up the lava stream, each leaping
from rock to rock, making sure not to stay on them too long in
fear of sinking, and coordinating to make sure they leave clear
pathways for one another. Waspinator smiles, pleased with the
team, as they reach the volcano; they hop onto land, split
across either side of the stream, and Cross-Shot notes that the
fragment seems to be embedded in the mouth of the volcano. The
team start to climb up the volcano’s side. Wildfire uses his arm
blades to dig into the rock, impressed with his idea, only to
notice Swingback gracefully clambering up in squirrel monkey
       mode.
Wildfire: Hey, I guess these blades are kinda useful even when
you’re not fighting. I’m making great progress!
       *Swingback clambers past, fast*
       Swingback: Hey Wildfire!
*she zooms off beyond him; he blinks in disbelief*
Scale uses his built-in claws in leopard gecko mode; all the
while, he talks to Mirage (climbing normally) about Waspinator’s
leadership, noting that she should lay off him. Swingback
reaches the mouth of the volcano first – looking in, she
chuckles nervously. Scale quickly joins her, and tries to
visually locate the fragment; Swingback attempts to strike up
conversation, but he ignores her. Wildfire is the next to
arrive, humbled by the volcano, excited and scared in equal
       measure.
The Vok, once again on one of Scorpinax’s screens, asks who he
has chosen as their vessel. He announces that he has chosen
Hatchet, and sends them data on him from the base’s computers.
Scorpinax: Took me a little while – entire minutes – but I
managed to find a bot called Hatchet. Scrawny build, prickly
attitude; seems more useful for you than us. I’ve taken the data
that we have on him from our systems. I’m sending it to you now.
That done, he asks what else he needs to do, and they state that
for now, he must simply be aware of his surroundings; once they
need him again, they shall address him. The Vok vanishes from
his screen, leaving him contemplative. Dinobot then appears on
another of his screens, noting that the inner circle is to hold
a meeting shortly. Scorpinax shrugs this off, saying that he
will arrive when he is ready. The Maximals have now all ascended
the volcano – Cross-Shot senses the fragment, and states that it
is directly below them, embedded in the inner side of the
volcano’s cone. Waspinator has Prophecy create an energy
platform, which he and Cross-Shot stand on, and the two are
lowered to the location of the fragment. Paladin calls the Dawn
Katana over all the while. As Waspinator extracts the fragment,
Wildfire asks if all of the fragments grant powers, even those
embedded in non-living things. He ponders what power this
fragment grants, and Snapjaw comments that the volcano has not
       been very volatile. At that moment, a deep rumbling is heard;
Prophecy brings the platform back up, and states that the
fragment stabilised the volcano (asking for a chocolate bar as a
       reward for this observation).
Prophecy: Basically, that fragment has a ‘sealing’ power – in
this case, it sealed the volatile forces in the volcano, leaving
it stable, and now we’ve taken it, the volcano’s gonna blow, and
that made a lot of sense, so do I get a chocolate bar?
With the Dawn Katana still not here, Mirage suggests that
Prophecy expand the platform out across the mouth of the
volcano. She does so, and the Maximals all board it, just as the
volcano erupts, launching the platform – and the team – into the
air. Mirage has them link hands, and as the ship flies over
head, Snapjaw phases them inside. Mirage remarks that her place
on the team is ‘the other leader’, as Waspinator dryly thanks
her. As Dinobot holds a meeting with the other inner circle
members, Scorpinax enters, sitting himself down, obviously lost
in thought. Elsewhere, the Vok discusses with another that their
plan is progressing, and that there is still hope for reality.

Episode 25 – Playing with Memories
       Airdate: Saturday 14th December 2013
Synopsis: The Dawn Katana is resting in a quiet spaceport – in
the bridge, Cross-Shot is deep in thought when Waspinator
approaches, asking if she is okay. She assures him that she is,
just as an unknown bot enters the bridge. Smirking, he suggests
they leave now and continue on their way, which Waspinator
       agrees to.
As the ship lifts up, starting off through the sky, a tractor
beam catches it and brings it back down. The Maximals – barring
an absent Prophecy – and the new bot are shaken about, and once
the ship is brought back down, they find that Scorpinax and
Airazor have commandeered the control room. The new bot,
       Sawblade, rushes out of the ship, with the Maximals following;
Huntdown, Sickleclaw, Lacerator and some other Archaicons have
surrounded the ship, and Lacerator remarks that they are here to
       apprehend Sawblade.
Lacerator: Maximals, we are here to apprehend a member of your
       team, identity ‘Sawblade’.
The bot smirks, extending a blade from his left arm and
combining it with a circular saw on his right arm, holding his
arms together as the weapons form a chainsaw. Cackling, he
lunges at the Archaicons, attacking as Waspinator calls him
back. Ignored, the Maximal leader orders the other Maximals to
join Sawblade in killing the Archaicons. Scorpinax and Airazor
join the fray, as the brutal fighting continues. On the Dawn
       Katana, Prophecy crawls out from the ventilation system;
complaining of the cramped space, she heads to the bridge. She
tries to confer with the ship’s A.I., but it is too concerned
with Sawblade’s safety and security. Prophecy insists that he
has warped the memories of the Maximals and Archaicons, but the
ship accuses her of libel and sprays her out of the bridge with
       water.
Prophecy: Please! Sawblade is changing the Maximals’ memories!
       And the Archaicons!
Dawn Katana: Libellous! How dare you refer to Sawblade like
       that!
*he fires a stream of water at her, knocking her out of the
       bridge and into the hallway*
Prophecy: And yours! He’s definitely changed yours too!
Annoyed, Prophecy yells that she will kick him, before realising
that he is not small enough yet. The intense fighting continues,
with both sides showing damage and Sawblade mowing down lesser
Archaicons. Lacerator calls in more Archaicons, but Dinobot
instead orders his team to retreat. Before the bots can comply,
Sawblade claims that he is bored – and a moment later, the
Maximals turn to the inner circle, asking if they are ready to
depart. Sawblade chuckles that now, everyone is an Archaicon.
Dinobot, aboard the Archaicon ship, demands that the Archaicons
return, and Lacerator informs him that they still have to
retrieve the repairs they need. The leader is utterly bemused,
allowing her to do as she needs and closing the communications.
Hearing a knock at the door to his quarters, he turns to see
Prophecy already inside the room, knocking on the inside of the
door. Dinobot demands to know how she entered the ship, and the
Maximal claims that the door was left open, before adding that
       she chronoskimmed.
Dinobot: How did you enter the ship? You can’t just sneak
       aboard…
Prophecy: The door was left open! Also, I chronoskimmed. Or just
       that one.
She explains that the fragment-bearer of this planet, Sawblade,
has been granted the ability to re-write people’s memories,
which he is using on both the Maximals and Archaicons. When
Dinobot asks why she remains unaffected, she points to her head
with both hands, stating that her mind is too complex, before
asking for his help. Somewhat reluctantly, he agrees, and she
takes his hand, leading him out of his quarters. As the
Maximals, Archaicons and Sawblade head through the city,
Sawblade explains that this quieter region of the city-planet is
a hot-bed of illegal weapon sales. He explains that they shall
be starting a massive fight, involving all weapon merchants, and
causing as much chaos and death as possible.
Sawblade: We’re going to cause chaos. A great big fight, with
all the weapon merchants involved, and lots of dying and
carnage. We’re Archaicons – that’s what we do, right? When we
disagree with something, we burn it down, and this world is...
hmm, let’s see, what’s our excuse… it’s just so much fun to
       watch burn.
He has the group split up – Waspinator leading Cross-Shot,
Huntdown and Sickleclaw; Mirage leading himself, Scale, Wildfire
and Scorpinax; and Lacerator leading Snapjaw, Paladin, Swingback
and Airazor; with the lesser Archaicons scattered among the
teams. They split up, with Sawblade overjoyed at the prospect of
carnage. Cross-Shot apologises to Huntdown for her harsh words,
only to realise that she does not know what words she means. He
accepts her apology nonetheless. All the while, Airazor bugs
Lacerator, and Paladin and Swingback talk, with Snapjaw
       unimpressed with the pairs.
Outside the spaceport, Prophecy and Dinobot continue on their
way. Entering the terminal, Prophecy points out to Dinobot that
Waspinator still feels betrayed. The Archaicon apologises, but
confirms that he has no intent of rejoining the Maximals – they
have become too dark and utilitarian for him. Prophecy insists
that there must be a middle ground somewhere, as they reach the
Dawn Katana. They board, as the ship now recognises Dinobot, an
Archaicon, as one of the crew members, whereas Prophecy is
treated as an anomaly. The unusual fembot leads Dinobot through
the ship… only to find a second Prophecy. As the new one
realises what is happening, she steps backwards and vanishes:
the first Prophecy explains that chronoskimming involves
time-travel, and Prophecy-then has just left to find Dinobot,
       earlier.
       Prophecy-then: … oh, I get it!
       Prophecy: Hi me!
Prophecy-then: Hi! I look forward to being you!
       *she steps backwards and vanishes*
Prophecy: So, chronoskimming involves stepping back through time
more than space, so Prophecy-then just left to go and get you to
       be here now.
Dinobot: I grasped that from the situation.
Prophecy: I know, but the audience might not have!
Dinobot: I’m not going to follow that peculiar train-of-thought…
The three ‘Archaicon’ teams start to rile up the weapon
merchants, attacking them and generally causing carnage,
Sawblade enjoying himself greatly as he slices through
civilians. Prophecy and Dinobot reach the Arcrise room; her egg
has now grown to around half of Prophecy’s height. Dinobot,
realising what it is, is taken aback, and Prophecy notes that
Arcrise, too, still believes – or will believe – in the bond
       between Waspinator and Dinobot.
Dinobot: That… Arcrise. It is her… incubating and restoring
       herself. But…
       Prophecy: She believes.
       Dinobot: Hn?
Prophecy: She believes in- is that the right tense? She will
believe in… in the bond between you and Waspinator.
She takes his hand, placing it to the egg’s surface. Fires have
broken out across the local area, and the joint faction is
waging a small war on the locals. At that point, Prophecy and
Dinobot teleport onto the scene, Dinobot shining with power; he
steps forward, punching Sawblade and sending him flying. He
telekinetically summons the fragment extractor, lunges for
Sawblade, and while Prophecy holds the others back with an
energy wall, Dinobot extracts Sawblade’s fragment. The bots
return to normal, and Dinobot’s Arcrise-given powers dissipate.
He throws the extractor back to Waspinator, before grabbing
Sawblade by the throat (noting that he shall teach him what it
means to be an Archaicon) and Transwarping away, the other
Archaicons following. The Maximals are left amidst the damage
