Re: Hayate no Gotoku chapter reviews

456, Fumi continues on her quest to hook up with Ikusa. Isumi
appears from nowhere and starts 'leaking information' about him
- when Fumi asks if he has a boyfriend, and explains that it's a
matter of love, Isumi looks at her in disgust. She then goes to
ask Ikusa if he has a girlfriend, noting that she's asking for
Fumi's sake, and Ikusa explains that he would only fall in love
with someone who shares his ideals for saving people.
Cue Fumi running off to save people. :P
She finds Hayate, of course, and they discuss his need to earn 8
million yen (she punches him XD), with Fumi suggesting he make
takoyaki. He advice starts off making sense, but then she tells
a story about a man who infinitely waters down his takoyaki
batter to no ill effect. Yukiji also shows up when Hayate
mentions money (though she's here for Hina's sake), and suggests
he invest in takoyaki sales. Hayate is angered at their useless
advice, until cliffhanger. Buuuu. -3-;
10 Word Summary!
'Fumi becomes a Life Saver, but she's ineffectual as expected.'

Hayate sends Yukiji off to tend to Hinagiku, and thanks Fumi for
her dedicated help with the suggestion that she help others
still in-need. Fumi feels that he's been de-fanged. :P As they
head off, Kotetsu approaches Hayate, and he thanks Kotetsu for
restoring the restaurant. Souya also appears, and Hayate asks
where his brother is; he heads off, leaving Souya and a jealous
Kotetsu in-charge of the restaurant.
Yukiji finds Isumi tending to Hina, as Maria is out getting
medicine. Isumi explains that Hina is possessed by an evil
spirit, which is producing cold-like symptoms; medicine and
sleep should help (just like a cold :P), but Isumi adds that if
Yukiji takes the possession then, like a cold, it's cured
immediately (huh?).
Hayate approaches Ikusa, who asks if he's given up on the
competition - Hayate claims that he hasn't, but that Ikusa will
hand over the King's Jewel anyway. He goes on to explain that he
was already shaken up when he arrived, still affected by Ruka's
departure and driven by determination to get the Jewel for Nagi
(hence the ridiculous actions). He was intending on leaving upon
getting the stone, but he recalls how Alice had told him that he
thought a single meeting could fill a ten-year gap, and how Fumi
and Yukiji's ridiculousness made him realise his own - what
really matters is building bridges with his brother. Ikusa
declares again that he has no brother, as he cast aside his
family and past, but adds that if he really did make it through
the family he can vaguely remember, he'd be proud to consider
himself the brother who survived that as the person he is.
And then someone off-panel yells "found yoooouuuu!!!!"
10 Word Summary!
'Hayate and Ikusa start to fill the gap between them.'

458! Nagi wakes up, claiming that she needs to be careful not to
overwork (a caption states that she worked for an hour XD), and
then heading off to find Hayate. She sees Isumi passing by, and
asks Maria if it was her. Maria says she'd not seen Isumi
around.
Meanwhile, Hayate and Ikusa find Yukiji, with a mask,
confronting them. She's possessed by the spirit of the pirate
who Hayate and Hina took the curry from (seems Yukiji took the
'cold' from Hina). The pirate wants the curry back, although
Hayate slags off his name and cites legal rights of a dead
person's items. XD "Higanman" can't be hurt without hurting
Yukiji, although Hayate attacks anyway. :P Ikusa has him stop,
and goes to attack himself, only for Higanman to block him with
one hand. He's taken aback by this, while Higanman reveals that
he's managed to snatch the King's jewel pouch. Ikusa declares
that, if Higanman refuses to give it back, it'll be war.
Higanman doesn't care, and feels energy empowering him. Then
Nagi calls out to Hayate.
10 Word Summary!
'Yukiji is possessed and becomes a nuisance for the brothers.'

Why did Nagi scream? Why, weird blobs on the coast, of course!
:P Hayate tells her they're just dead jellyfish, and draws her
attention to the sandstorm possessed Yukiji is kicking up. XD
Nagi has a plan, and against Hayate's wishes, she approaches
Yukiji/Higanman. She tells Yukiji that if she purifies the
spirit... she'll give her 500 yen.
Unsurprisingly, it actually works. XDXD
Higanman's mask starts to break as he cries out in disbelief;
Ikusa is surprised at the situation, while Hayate is less so.
Nagi offers 1500 yen instead, and the mask fully cracks. Acting
rashly, Higanman throws the King's Kewel out to sea. Ikusa
throws Hayate up into the air to catch it, but bolts of light
appear and one of them slices the stone cleanly in two, causing
it to erupt with energy. Hayate falls into the sea, despairing,
and Ikusa rescues him.
Hina on the cover. No Hina in the chapter. D:
10 Word Summary!
'Nagi owns Higanman, but the King's Jewel is destroyed.
Yozora...?'

460! Beach Arc concludes!
Turns out Isumi destroyed the King's Jewel, per Alice's
instructions. She even set up all the stuff with the curry and
the 'ghost extras', plus created the sign indicating the curry.
:P Alice explains that Hayate must put up with losing the stone
for a greater purpose.
Nagi rushes over to Hayate, who says he's OK but that the stone
is lost. Nagi insists that it wasn't the main reason they came,
as he's reunited with his brother. However, it's pointed out
that he still needs to earn 8 million yen... and Ikusa insists
on it being made. :P Hayate rushes to the restaurant and finds
Kotetsu and Koutarou struggling to keep up with the large number
of customers, having already earned a million yen. Hina steps
forward, feeling better and saying she'll help; Maria does so
too, and the sleepy Chiharu, Kayura and Alice offer as well.
Even Ayumu steps up, though no one seems enthused at her 'latent
power'. :P
In any case, by the next evening, they've made enough money.
Ikusa hands Hayate the empty charm, and says that he is blessed
with excellent friends. Hayate agrees that they're always
helping him, though Kayura notes that with Nagi, he's always
helping her. As Ikusa goes to head off, Hayate hands him back
the charm, as he's worried about him with his dangerous
Lifesaver job. Ikusa says that someone so weak shouldn't worry
about him. XD However, he takes it and says he'll help Hayate
when he needs it. He tells Hayate to make sure not to lose what
means the most to him, and Hayate says he will and that he'll be
back next summer.
Meanwhile, Fumi 'saves' Yukiji because she's a Lifesaver. :P
10 Word Summary!
'Alice is cryptic, Hayate kinda wins, and Fumi's a Lifesaver!'

461. Chiharu points out that Hayate didn't achieve his goal, and
the group discuss the possibility of Hayate having an enemy and
what they'll do about the inheritance now. Alice declares that
they still have a clue, and that there's a place guaranteed to
have a stone. She goes to tell them all, but Nagi interrupts,
wailing about a manga ending with a bad end. Alice points out
the importance of what she's about to tell, but Nagi asks her to
send the info online as she's more interested in the new
Godzilla film. :P Chiharu and Kayura get excited about it too,
while Maria asks Nagi if she's not interest in regaining her
inheritance... which she is, she just doesn't care at the moment
after all the beach stuff. XD (She suggests they just put up a
sign saying "They got the stone somehow or another", which
further infuriates Alice. XDXD)
Hayate and Maria wonder if this is indicative of Nagi putting
things off forever. Alice goes to explain again, but Maria
suggests she do laundry if she's not ready to explain yet.
Hinagiku and Ayumu head off for a student council meeting and
work, respectively, and Chiharu and Kayura bring up Godzilla
again. Alice sulks and says they should just go; Chiharu
suggests a theatre in the hills so they can have shaved ice.
Nagi concludes that they can discuss the stone over shaved ice,
after Godzilla. Alice concedes, tagging along too.
They get to the theatre, and Nagi mentions how it's her first
time going to a theatre with friends; the mansion had a theatre
in it which she used. She's asked if she's Michael Jackson. XD
They head inside, and Nagi asks if they should see the film in
2D or 3D. Hayate starts reeling off the flaws of 3D, which
causes Nagi to go with 2D (she and Kayura discuss Hayate being
bothered about little things XD). Alice tells Hayate that he
needs to buy popcorn, and goes all tsundere when he points out
that what she means is SHE wants some. :P As they all head into
the theatre itself, Chiharu asks about the seats; Hayate's
booked ones close to the screen, and again reels off why they
make good seats. They sit down, and Hayate asks Alice if she's
seen a Godzilla film before. She's evidently mistaking Godzilla
for some family-friendly film. :P
10 Word Summary!
'US Godzilla and 3D in 2005, and Alice gets ignored.'

462! Alice explains that there are five King's Jewels left, and
that knowing Mikado, one is in his castle. The idea comes
together (between herself and Nagi, with Hayate mainly being
bemused) to give Mikado that one and not play into his hands by
hunting a stone for him... and that if they just pick it up from
having fallen (which will happen, because people are careless)
and hand it to him, it won't even count as stealing.
The group visit Mikado (he insists he's in fine health and shall
live to 150 :P), and Nagi shows Hayate the way to Mikado's
deepest treasure vault. There are no alarms, because you won't
get out alive. :P However, Nagi can at least electronically
deactivate the basic security measures for him, and he'll then
have to make his way down to the deep vault. He'll have an hour.
As he sets off, Maria sums up the manga (10 years at the end of
October!), and that it's a story of "love and bloodshed"... as
Hayate very narrowly escapes being impaled from above. :P
10 Word Summary!
'Alice and Nagi hatch a dangerous plan... yeah, good luck.'

Oh boy. XD
Alice and Isumi discuss Hayate heading into trap central.
Meanwhile, Hayate manages to avoid another trap; with another 45
minutes to go, he decides to use his trump card already,
dropping a photo of 'Kotori-chan (maid ver.)' while stating as
such. Regiostar appears. XD Hayate wants to borrow his
will-o'-the-wisp to light the way. Regiostar warns that he'll
need to curse Hayate for it to possess him; Hayate suggests he
curse him a little and then do other odd jobs, bribing him with
another anime girl photo. :P
The first thing they find is a padlocked door. No sign of a
key... just a quivering puppy with a notice "Punch this puppy to
get the key." Hayate eventually decides that he must do it, at
which point the puppy turns into a hulking monster. XDXD Of
course, he now doesn't have to hold back, and we soon see him
unlocking the door while injured. :P They note that it won't be
easy to make a better trap than that...
And open the door onto a video game-like lava-fall with
platforms stood amongst it. :P
Even they question if it's Mario Galaxy and if Bowser's awaiting
them. XD
However, Hayate notices a "Secret Bridge Control Room".
Regiostar points out that it's likely a trap, but Hayate says
he'll risk his life for Nagi and heads inside... to find a
quivering girl in a swimsuit and a sign reading "She is hiding
the button for the secret bridge." XDXD She introduces herself
as Makise Konoha (not sure on name order; the end thing calls
her Konoha-chan so I'll go with Konoha for now), whose family is
poor so she earns tuition money by hiding the button part-time.
She continues that she does it four days a week and that her
mother is sick and her little brother needs food, but her pay
will be docked if she hands over the button. Also she'll sue
Hayate if he does anything to her to find the button. :P
10 Word Summary!
'Puppies, lava and swimsuit girls... Mikado lays some crazy
traps.'
I would hope he didn't lay Konoha. ;P

465! Hayate and Regiostar cross the bridge and continue on their
journey, although they have no idea how much time they have.
Then who should appear but Klaus! He too works for Mikado
part-time (and notes that if Hayate had come tomorrow, Klaus
wouldn't have been there). Klaus goes to sword-fight Hayate, and
tells him to pick up a sword too; he does, again stealing
himself for Nagi's sake.
And then uses Konoha's stun-gun to block Klaus' sword and shock
him. XDXD
As he and Regiostar enter the vault, Hayate sees the King's
Jewel, while Regiostar finds a watch that may not have the
correct time...
The Kurotsubaki? :o Well, someone pointed out that it looks like
a simplified version, but it should surely be in Vegas at the
moment? And Hayate would recognise it...
10 Word Summary!
'Klaus appears but gets owned easily. Now a mysterious watch?'

Edit: P.S., post 100! Though not review 100. I'll commemorate
that too. :P
