This'll just be a quick recap... Hisui sword-fights with Hayate,
and basically displays her glorious insanity. I mean, wow, Hata.
XD Meanwhile, Yozora goes to deal with Athena, only for Isumi to
blast her away (and hand Athena some of her "lewd clothes" XD).
She then address Yozora as Midas' daughter. The whole palace
starts to crumble due to the fighting, and when Hayate gets
serious on Hisui, she simply catches his blade and attacks back.
Yozora recognises that Hisui is in danger, and calls... someone.
Apparently next chapter is a big one. Who could it be? Wait...
just though. Himegami? :o

Hayate and Hisui continue to fight. Yozora concludes her phone
call, and smashes her phone. She then whisk Hisui away from the
fight, telling her she's not strong enough to win yet. She
offers a final present, and says she is glad to have met Hisui,
before... I'm not sure, but she vanishes and a Midas hand
appears, taking Hayate on. Hisui goes to retrieve the King's
Jewel as it flies off, but Athena and Isumi move to stop her.
She takes the stone anyway, an explosion appears...
And Himegami, Hisui's butler, appears! :D

No idea why we've gotten three chapters this week, but I'm glad.
And I wonder if Himegami being Hisui's butler is supposed to
reflect the old "Nagi and Himegami, Athena and Hayate" plans?
Nagi and Hayate, Hisui and Himegami. Eager to see more! And
Himegami even has his anime mask!

Oh boy. "Finale". Don't blow this, Hata... don't rush it.
Nagi wakes up, same as every day. She and Hayate discuss the
fact that she wakes up at noon all the time, and that he should
help her to get up sooner. Eventually, he gives her a kiss on
the cheek, just before Maria interrupts. Hayate and Maria
discuss Nagi afterwards, and Hayate has flashbacks to the end of
the last chapter. He tells Maria that he keeps having
flashbacks, like a waking dream; she says she's been having some
too, about quitting being a maid, but it would never happen.
We then see that the Sanzenin Mansion is in the Royal Garden, in
place of the palace.
Himegami stands over a beaten, bleeding, unconscious Hayate,
telling him that this is the result of his weakness.

"Fantasy world where everything is peaceful; changes are being
rejected?"
I highly doubt we'll be wrapping up on Chapter 550; unless it's
bumper-length, that's way too little to resolve everything (and
even a bumper-length chapter would be too little). Getting up to
Chapter 555 works - six more chapters to fill out Volume 51, and
enough time to deal with whatever's happening here, defeat
Hisui, conclude the story and maybe peek ten years into the
future. Ideally we'd go an even longer stretch, but with the
chapter being "Finale: What a Wonderful World (1)", I can't
imagine we'll see too much more.
This doesn't feel real. ;_;
In any case... I have to trust that Hata can do this right. It
all feels rushed, though... I don't know what to make of all
this stop-and-start publishing (assuming it's not to do with the
uploads instead), it all just feels as though he's struggling to
write any more or is focused more on Ad Astra Per Aspera now.
Assuming that's going at its usual pace.
I don't know. I just hope this is a good ending. If nothing
else, this chapter was one hell of a curveball.

Chapter 550! We flash back a little, and... okay, this one's
simple. Himegami introduces himself (though Isumi thinks it's
not him), then he attacks Hayate, Isumi and Athena, Hisui uses
the power Yozora gave her to attack too (destroying her mansion
in the process), she recovers Hayate's stone, and when Hayate
tries to stop Himegami from leaving, he gets pummeled.
All this while Himegami keeps insisting that Hayate is too weak.

Man, I'm getting nervous clicking each chapter now, thinking
we're at the end... then Hata just makes me laugh. XD
Ch.551 begins with Hayate waking up in the mansion the next
morning, having been returned by Sakuya. Maria thinks he trashed
a maid café in fury over Maria's quitting confession. :P Nagi
then comes in, worried about him; he recalls Himegami's words,
hugs her, and tells her that he will protect everything for her.
Nagi again recalls Chiharu words about marriage, and fawns over
Hayate as he heads off. Sakuya and Athena, both recovered,
discuss the events of last night.
Sakuya: That's true. You lost two stones. But you got back two
wonderful boobs in exchange.
Athena then heads off to the apartments, joined by Hayate. Ayumu
greets them as they enter, and is immediately shocked by a
suddenly-voluptuous teenage Alice. Athena doesn't recognise this
at all and just talks as normal; same deal when Chiharu shows up
(though she recognises that this is the board chairman). Athena
then mentions having been out with Hayate all night, and it was
intense. Cue Ayumu's sexually-charged mental image. XD Hinagiku
and Kayura also show up (talking about booby traps :P) - Kayura
is just stunned, while Hina is taken aback - Athena says she
needs to talk to her, but goes to bathe first.
As she notices the tap being lower than usual, she overhears the
others interrogating Hayate. She then realises it's because
she's back to normal size. The narrator adds that she later
realises that she has no underwear or clothes to change into.

Chapter 552 is a great one for the romantics!
Athena explains that Alice was called away to her country
abruptly, and that she (as Athena) acted overly familiar with
the girls as she knew them so well from Alice's tales of them.
The girls (Hinagiku, Ayumu, Chiharu and Kayura) swallow this,
and then we see Athena checking out Alice's makeshift bed in
Hina's room. She promptly falls asleep in it. :P Hinagiku
realises that she no longer has to stay either if Alice is gone,
but Athena reminds her (with knowing detail) that she'll no
longer be living with Hayate if she leaves. She suggests that,
if that isn't enough for her to tell him her feelings, he'll
never realise, and adds that she's interested in the girl who's
in love with her ex.
Hayate then calls her away, and as the two head off, Ayumu asks
Hinagiku about Athena. Hina recounts that she was Hayate's
childhood girlfriend. All the while, Athena stares longingly at
the apartments, telling Hayate that it was her first time
experiencing something like this and she struggles to let go.
Ayumu then turns up, and Athena tells Hayate to head to Hakuou
ahead of her. Ayumu asks Athena if she still loves Hayate, and
she says that she does... but she no longer sees herself
reflected in his eyes, and so she is okay with leaving. She then
asks Ayumu if she loves Hayate, and she declares that she does,
and always has, for longer than anyone else. Athena tells her
that she knows, as Alice said... and that Alice wants to be
friends with Ayumu when they grow up.

Oooh, big one today!
Athena leads Hayate and Isumi, telling them that she's been
preparing for a situation like this (a bad person preparing to
enter the Royal Garden), and they they're going to set up camp
at the main entrance point... Hakuou Academy. As they meet with
Sakuya in the Clock Tower (and Hayate mentions weaponing up,
including a literal callback to volume 4 :P), Athena unveils the
incomplete Celestial Room up above the student council room.
Hayate heads back to the mansion, where Chiharu is helping Nagi
with her manuscript. He looks at it and sees some romantic
imagery of their expies, which makes him start to question what
Nagi's "own experiences" that she's basing the manga on may be.
Sakuya asks Isumi about Himegami and why he's made such a
face-heel turn. Ginka then shows up, and proclaims that he was
the boy who was shrunk by a curse. Hayate walks Chiharu back to
the apartments on his way to Hakuou, and they get talking about
Hayate's "confession" to Nagi back when they first met. It all
finally hits Hayate like a train, and he tells Chiharu that he
wasn't confessing to Nagi but trying to kidnap her.
"That's... a misunderstanding."

misunderstanding."
Also, this is October 25th. So we have potentially two months'
more story, even though we're at the climax and literally in
"Finale". Really not sure how this will all pan out, since the
December 24th ending was hinted at before and still fits
narratively. Hmm...

MangaTraders started playing up once I read ch.554, so I haven't
saved the pages and this'll be by memory.
Chiharu is taken aback by Hayate's declaration, and winds up
slapping him in frustration, snapping that Nagi really does love
him and that he has to tell her. He insists that he needs to
deal with Hisui first, and then tell Nagi the truth and quit as
her butler. Chiharu still believes that he is doing the wrong
thing, but continues off to the apartments on her own. Hayate
returns to the mansion, and asks Maria to talk with him. She
quickly demonstrates that she's known about the misunderstanding
the whole time, and has already figured out what he's thinking -
to ask her to stay on as Nagi's maid while he quits. Nagi then
turns up, and while Hayate insists that they were discussing
breakfast, Maria instead tells her that she plans to quit as her
maid after Nagi's 14th birthday.
Meanwhile, Chiharu answers the door at the apartments (socked
feets! E3), and is asked if she knows when the building is meant
to be demolished.

Chapter Faiz 555 is all about Yukariko!
Nagi sends off her finished manuscript, and she and Chiharu
discuss Maria leaving (Nagi insists that she wouldn't be able to
change her mind). Chiharu is surprised to learn that Hayate will
still be around. Then they see the guy from the redevelopment
company - he's introduced to tiny landlord Nagi, and mentions
the intention of building a tower apartment where the current
apartment building is... though he thinks the current building
is too nice to destroy. Nagi, however, doesn't mind - she says
her memories from there will continue on in her heart. The
redevelopment guy is still unsure, and heads off, while Nagi
points out that Yukariko had always wanted a tower apartment
anyway.
Himegami fawns over an old photo of Yukariko - Hisui mocks him,
and suggests that she could open the path with his misery. Isumi
and Sakuya discuss when the former first saw Yukariko, and
though she was a god (apparently because she could see the
spectral form of Orumuzuto Nadja with her). Isumi wonders what
wish Yukariko made with the Royal Power. In the apartments, Nagi
reiterates her goal of selling a trillion copies, firing herself
up to start a new manga and insisting that she needs to prove to
Maria that she's strong enough to manage on her own. Hinagiku
and Ayumu are impressed, but Kayura perceives that Nagi's energy
is just hollow.
Nagi... imagines herself running through a forest? I dunno, but
she comes to a halt as she realises her fears over Maria's
eventual departure. Then - lo - she sees Yukariko!

October 31st. Theoretically just under two months of story left.

Quick summary of ch.556:
The apparent Yukariko coughs up blood, and Nagi offers to help
take her back to the hospital (she also gets roped into taking
her to Starbucks :P). The woman is called Kanzaki, and she...
kind of seems like an amnesiac Yukariko. She has money somehow
and mentions that she would have a child about Nagi's age if she
had gotten married. Later, Nagi worries that she could wind up
alone too, especially once Maria leaves, but resolves herself
over Hayate being with her. At the mansion, Maria says that he's
staying at Hakuou for a while.
Hayate thinks about Chiharu's revelation re: Nagi, before
Hinagiku approaches him - he says he needs to get the
inheritance back, and she mentions his obvious love for Nagi.
Not necessarily romantic, of course, but it takes him back, and
then she mentions that she's jealous before abruptly adding that
it's not in THAT way (FFS Hina! XD). Mikado shows up, and says
that they're tracking Hisui and Himegami. He hands Hayate a
King's Jewel and reminds him of what he told him years ago: "it
is the earnest hard worker who will have the last laugh".
Then Himegami shows up!
