Chapter 526 is here! And there's a lot of boke. :P
Hayate and Nagi visit Hatsuho re: Loto's key (which is the cool
name Nagi's given the key, and clearly a reference to something
or other XD). As Nagi forewarned, Hatsuho (and Isumi) are both
pretty much useless, other than passing on that Yukariko had
mentioned the key being in Najimi Tower. This turns out to be
the clock tower at Hakuou - it's a 350m tower, which would make
it hard to search (and Isumi and Hatsuho aren't any help XD).
Thankfully, Hinagiku shows up, and after getting an explanation,
she suggests they get the Student Council Trio to help. They're
here at night, studying. And it's about now that they'd be
getting bored. :P
Of course, the trio agree to help, though they ponder how they
don't know what's in most of the tower. They simple take the
elevator to the top.
Yukiji then appears, and remarks that the student council
offices aren't at the top. There's a secret chamber leading to a
celestial room... which reminds Hayate of the celestial mirror
in the Royal Garden.
10 Word Summary!
"Isumi and Hatsuho provide boke, and a Royal Garden connection?"

Chapter 527 is all about ponkotsu! (That's someone or something
useless, by the way.)
So of course, it's primarily about Izumi getting lost. :P The
group entered the clock tower, and Hayate advised they stick
together and try not to get lost. So naturally, Izumi winds up
lost. While the others try to figure out where the key could be,
Izumi encounters a skeleton and wastes her phone battery on the
light rather than attempting a phone call. Nonetheless, she
picks up her courage with the line "a persistent heart paves the
way to the future", which she can't associate with anyone in
particular so she just invents someone who "did something for
freedom or something" and "probably did something else". XDXD
The others have exited the tower, and Hayate points out to Nagi
that Yukariko was a ponkotsu and probably couldn't have
effectively hidden the key by herself. They ask Hatsuho if
Yukariko knew anyone clever or skillful who could have helped -
Hatsuho says that Miko-nyan was clever, but not skillful...
Klaus was the most skillful person Yukariko knew. Hayate and
Nagi just consider him a pervert. :P Still, Nagi goes to call
him... but Hisui and Yozora have tied him up! Hisui suggests
they have a chat over tea.
10 Word Summary!
"Izumi is a ponkotsu, Yukariko was a ponkotsu, captive Klaus."

Picking up where we left off for Ch.528, Hinagiku points out
that rushing to save Klaus will prove difficult, and Nagi
decides that they should have someone else (Sakuya judging by
her phone) rescue Klaus while they continue searching for the
key. They decide to dig out the clock tower blueprints from the
library - Miki and Risa demonstrate how little they actually
know about why they're doing all of this all the while. :P
Hisui's creepy mansion. Klaus insists he has no idea what
they're talking about. Hisui goes to bed and leaves Klaus to
Yozora... who tickle tortures his foot with a feather. Really
Hata? The old guy? Yozora better re-use this trick on Hina or
someone. XD
The rest of the chapter basically follows our key-hunting team
studying the bizarre traps in the tower as Izumi trips them...
basically getting herself repeatedly fan-service-ified drenched
with water. Nagi winds up noticing a specific pathway (across
two floors?), which spells out key.
10 Word Summary!
"Hisui's creepy mansion, Yozora's torture techniques, and Izumi
repeatedly soaked."

Just saw last chapter's review again... mhmm, Hinagiku getting
her feet tickled... |3
Ch.529 is almost entirely a glorious flashback. Basically, Nagi
as a child is crying because her latest manga is being mocked.
Leaving the party going on, she hears a voice asking her why
she's crying. Looking up, she sees Hisui Hi-chan stood way up in
the top of a tree. Very telling dialogue here: "I'm above you,
Nagi." She displays no concern for her own well-being in using
this vantage point to view the beautiful scenery. Then a group
of boys show up, taking Nagi's manga from her against her better
wishes and mocking it. Hisui tells Nagi that you need to fight
against what bothers you, rather than crying (which only makes
things worse). She manages to get the manga back and return it
to Nagi, only for one of the kids to push Hisui. She lands
face-first on the ground, and Nagi insists that if you fight,
this happens. Hisui says it's fine... and she picks up a rock
that she landed next to, saying that you just keeping fighting
until you win.
We don't see what happened, but we see the bloodied rock and
Hisui's equally-soaked hands in the aftermath.
In the present, Sakuya resolves to try and help Klaus, though
she observes that she and Hisui are similar in how they know
what they do and don't like. The only difference, Sakuya says,
is that she has common sense. :P She then goes to head off, and
Machina says he'll accompany her... if she'll buy him
hamburgers. XD
10 Word Summary!
"Hisui was a dangerous child, but lacks Sakuya's common sense."

Chapter 531 begins with Risa asking Hayate whether he prefers
big boobs or little boobs. Basically, she's bored while they
(the two of them, Nagi, Hinagiku and Miki) search for any clues
in the tower. She actually gets quite impassioned about learning
Hayate's preference. :P She even points out Hinaigku's "AAA cup"
(XD), but Hayate insists that he doesn't take interest in breast
size. Miki then chimes in about him having seen both Nagi and
Izumi naked multiple times, and asks who he prefers... it's then
that they finally realise that Izumi is missing. Hayate goes off
to look for her; Hinagiku tells the others that they should keep
working, but Miki and Risa prepare to follow Hayate. Miki ends
up calling her dad to get people in to do the work. XD
Hayate finds Izumi's abandoned soaked clothes, and then reaches
a big door that is guarded by an orb. The orb reads that Hayate
must answer questions to enter - these being rather prying
questions that demonstrate how much of a sadist Hayate actually
is. :P In the end, with Izumi clearly beyond the door, Hayate is
asked to rank her. He says that he can't put girls into a
hierarchy. The orb specifies "based on breasts alone" and Hayate
answers 4 without missing a beat.
XDXDXDXD
While Izumi is released, none too happy, Nagi receives a phone
call from Sakuya...
10 Word Summary!
"Hayate won't divulge his preferences, but demonstrates an
intense side."

Well, Chapter 532 already! Makes a change after waiting half a
month... I miss the weekly uploads...
So, I'm going to do this as a bullet-point summary! What have we
learnt this chapter?
- FLASHBACK! That Yozora initially attacked Hayate way back when
(May 16th) knowing that he would eventually make contact with
Athena or her "snake"
- that Klaus is not wearing anything on his lower half
- that Machina thinks he can hide in a tree just by sticking
branches to himself
- that Sakuya and Hisui are both idiots
- that Yozora "might be able to give [Hisui] an even lovelier
present" (than Klaus)
- that Miki's dad's people are competent
- that Loto's key seems to be within the Royal Garden's coffin
(or at least the Royal Garden?)
Also, Yozora notes how mobile phones show how far things have
come in 2700 years... is she immortal?
10 Word Summary!
"Klaus is handed over, and the key's location is discovered."

Half a month of nothing, and then a double-bill... XD
Chapter 533 points out a few occasions earlier in the manga
where "the end of the path" is mentioned, just like in the
hidden message that the group have discovered. Hayate is the
only one to figure out that it's all about the Royal Garden...
the next day, he ponders all of this, and thinks about the
"negative explosion of emotion" needed to open the path. He
concludes that it would be too difficult to get an explosion
like his own father's betrayal ten years ago, and that as long
as Hisui and Yozora don't have a King's Jewel, they have a
chance. He just needs something shocking...
Then he reads a magazine cover saying that Ruka's having an
illicit affair. XD
Someone in a panda costume then drags him off, and of course,
it's Ruka! She insists that she's not having an affair - that
was her grandfather, she was with her whole family, everything
was totally above board. She says that she didn't want Hayate to
have any weird misunderstandings, just as Chiharu barges in.
10 Word Summary!
"A shock is needed - Ruka's supposed affair doesn't cut it."
---------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 534 continues straight on, with Chiharu heading off to
change. Ruka immediately asks Hayate if he's kissed anyone since
her - he begins to deny it, only to remember Konoha. Ruka gets
right up in his face about it, clearly bothered. XD Chiharu is
also listening from outside, having changed very quickly. She
then enters, and discussion moves to Nagi's manga...
We then see Nagi and Chiharu working on the manga, and Chiharu
asks Nagi if she loves Hayate. While Nagi is flustered and
accuses Chiharu of conflating manga and reality, she then admits
that she does. She adds that Hayate started it, and explains his
"confession" (so she does still believe that...). The two get
more and more flustered, as Chiharu suggests that Hayate is a
lolicon, that Nagi doesn't have much attractive about her, and
that she'll need to get rich from manga or gain the inheritance
to keep Hayate interested once she's no longer loli. She even
casually mentions that her parents are now getting divorced
since their business has dried up. She insists that money is
everything in love, and that it's important for Hayate and
Nagi's future together.
All the while, Hayate escorts Ruka back to the studio, and she
expresses her relief that he's not fallen for anyone. Hayate has
a sudden revelation - to be in love with someone and then to be
dumped would be a huge shock. He wonders if he should get with
someone for Nagi's sake...
10 Word Summary!
"Ruka jealousy, Nagi and Chiharu flustered, Hayate has a plan."
I imagine the eventual shock will be the truth about Hayate's
"confession". I'd honestly love if Nagi wound up growing from
it, rather than the almost-inevitable conclusion of Hayate
falling for her after all. But the blushing was VERY cute. XD

Chapter 535 begins with Hayate narrating a brief summary of
events - Nagi needs her inheritance to live, her mother hid it
in the Royal Garden, that five of the necessary twelve King's
Jewels are left (three with Hayate), that an explosion of
negative emotion is needed, and that being dumped after real
love (not Kananiwa's break-up) should do it.
Hayate asks Ayumu if she loves anyone. She rather forcefully
reminds him that she still loves him and wants to date him. They
both get flustered, more so when Alice tells them to "take their
melodrama elsewhere". :P Hayate questions if he could really
break Ayumu's heart, before considering that Hisui must be
stopped.
His conclusion? To use someone who will understand in the end
that it's for Nagi's sake. Namely, Maria. As he ponders whether
she can even have romantic feelings, she unintentionally flirts
with him a little, saying she's always thought he looked cool.
As soon as he gets fired up, she retracts her statement. XD
10 Word Summary!
"Ayumu is still cute, and Hayate tries to bag Maria."

Jesus, the release schedule for this manga is all over the
place... XD
Chapter 536 opens with a brief flashback to Maria giving Hayate
a scarf when they first met, and Hayate explaining how much that
meant to him at the time.
Now, October 24th. Nagi says she can't write anymore without
chocolate. :P After a typical Hayate/Nagi battle of wits, Hayate
and Maria head out to find Nagi some famous chocolate. Hayate
continues his intentions of having Maria fall for him, while
they decide to check out a dagashi store. Maria manages to make
Hayate's heart beat faster, and he tries to take control by
showing the high-class girl something new to her - the jewel
ring sweet!
However, she simply points out that the name is stupid since
"jewel ring" is just an actual ring, and not a name that makes
you think of a sweet. :P As Hayate claims what matters is its
potential as a dagashi... Maria noms it from on his hand! We get
a couple of erotic panels of Maria taste-testing the thing, with
Hayate heavily flustered by the whole affair. XD
10 Word Summary!
"Hayate tries to win Maria's heart - some sexy sucking ensues!"
We've really zoomed through September and October, haven't we?
There was a reasonable time-jump between the end of summer and
the Level 5 trip, and we've now covered another month
post-trip... Two months of story left, most likely.
