Well, the winning order in ch.496 is the reverse of how they
came in in the previous chapter. Kayura is surprised that they
came in second; Chiharu has no idea how she escaped from the
jaws of a jaguar, and no one has an explanation. :P The men in
black state that anyone who can afford a hotel should leave.
Hinagiku, Miki and Aika discuss their fifth-place intentions;
Hina still has money to pay for a room, but Aika refuses to rely
on Hina. Miki presses her completer and quits, leaving Aika (she
of the spine) the only one of the team to stay in the jungle.
And, in fact, the only one of the trip. XD
Turns out Izumi paid for everyone to have a hotel room (she
can't say no. Chiharu and Kayura discuss what'd happen if
someone begged for a kiss, or worse XD). Aika is left alone...
though not for long, as soon enough a spider appears. She freaks
out, but soon builds up the courage to throw it out of a window
via a stick. And then dozens more appear. :P (She manages not to
scream this time. I'd be freaking out if a swarm of spiders
appeared. XD)
All the while, Hayate, Nagi and Kotetsu check out their hotel
room. Hayate thanks Kotetsu, shaking his hand... and pressing
his completer. He notes that he intends on ending this tonight.
10 Word Summary!
'Aika is left alone in the jungle, Hayate means business.'

Hinagiku observes that another competitor has dropped out, and
Risa and Izumi presume it was Aika, who would've panicked at the
first bug. That said, Aika's doing an epic job of dealing with
the spiders... and promptly gets freaked out by another noise.
XD
Meanwhile, Hayate ties up Kotetsu and shuts him in the wardrobe.
He and Nagi discuss his plan to take out the remaining
competitors - they each have their own room across floors 15 to
21, with the dropouts on floor 22. Lights out is at 10pm, and
they should likely all be asleep by midnight. He'll use the
ventilation system to go from room to room. Koutarou and Chiharu
are on the same floor as them, so Hayate shall deal with them
first. Come midnight, he sneaks into Koutarou's room, and takes
his wrist... only for him to wake up. Hayate quickly knocks him
out and presses his completer, observing that he "very nearly
woke up". :P Hina notices the completer number drop down again,
and clocks what's going on.
Hayate reaches Chiharu's room, only to be surprised by her
stirring and noting that she can't get to sleep. He remembers
that otaku are nocturnal, while she ponders what to do without
the internet or manga. She flicks through the TV, adding that
there's no manga and the films aren't subbed or dubbed... before
finding a p0rn station (really, site? You even block that word?
:P). She awkwardly goes to play it, and is immediately flustered
by the loud sex-talk that plays. Stopping it quickly, she says
to no one that she pressed the button by mistake. XD Noting that
she's now all sweaty, she goes to take a shower, as Hayate
avoids being seen. Hinagiku then turns up, noting that there
might be a criminal in the room.

Going to sum up ch.498 quickly...
Hina reveals her deduction that the competitor numbers dropping
while they're in a hotel means that someone's trying to remove
them. Chiharu goes to get dressed, and four more people drop by
out. We see Yukiji and Sonia are working to take out competitors
- Sonia is helping Yukiji so she can pay off her mah-jong debts.
Neither believe their actual professions. :P Then they encounter
terrorists. XD
Then basically, Hina follows Hayate through the vents, Chiharu
comes face-to-face with a terrorist, Yukiji and Sonia beat up
the terrorists on their end, Ruri goes to get Nagi, Yukiji saves
a cute student and then presses her Completer, and eventually,
most everyone is outside, with Nagi, Izumi and Risa discussing
the situation... and noticing the competitor number now at 18.

Ayumu is watching a film when Alice joins her - it's apparently
a timeless classic of cinema which Ayumu's just seeing for the
first time. :P It's coincidentally enough about a man trapped in
a building with terrorists (judging by the chapter title, I'm
guessing it's Die Hard?).
Hayate and Hinagiku follow Chiharu's scream and find a
knocked-out terrorist. Hayate says that Chiharu looks a bit
different. XDXD They then consider that a terrible person must
have done this - both independently think of Yukiji, and then
conjure a scenario wherein Yukiji hired these men to take out
the competitors. XD Kayura and Isumi have been taken hostage;
they wonder if it's part of the trip, and Kayura asks the
leader, getting a basic socioreligious terrorist "New Order!!!"
response. Isumi says she may have to act. Yukiji and Sonia watch
from on-high - Yukiji's still thinking of the competition, but
notes that she learnt how to deal with situations like this from
a film.
Ayumu and Alice watch more of the film, with one of the
terrorists beaten up and weaponless (implication being that the
protagonist stole the machine gun). Yukiji mimics this,
surprising the terrorists. Hayate and Hina split up, with Hayate
finding another knocked out terrorist... just as a squad appear
and pin the blame on him. XD Ayumu and Alice witness the
protagonist taking out machine gun-wielding terrorists, and we
see a battered Hayate reunite with Hina. They start to wonder if
it's really Yukiji behind this, and decide to continue heading
up. Meanwhile, Yukiji and Sonia overhear discussion about the
terrorists taking another loss, and Yukiji notes that there is a
powerful enemy.
10 Word Summary!
'The terrorist situation continues with a film comparison and
lulz.'

Chapter 500!
... is pointless. And we wouldn't have it any other way. :P
Nagi sulks about Sore ga Seiyuu getting an anime and HnG being
in the darkness. Cue a lovely colour cover page!
Then we have Nagi observing that they've gotten to 500 chapters
(and yeah, we're ignoring the Level 5 trip right now :P), and
that Hayate promised they'd show her manga every 100 chapters.
Hayate points out that she doesn't even have a manga; Nagi
protests, and unveils "Love Important". It's a romance manga
based on the forbidden love around her.
Long story short, this turns out to be Chiharu/"Glasses Girl"'s
yaoi gallery on her laptop. XD
There's some fun fourth-wall poking about pointless chapters,
lots of lulz, and my favourite line, "So she will gather swords!
On 2ch, Twitter, and Pixiv!!" XDXD
10 Word Summary!
'Another pointless chapter - but they matter just as much.
Swords.'
And also...
-Sore ga Seiyuu bonus-
With no prior exposure to Sore ga Seiyuu, this was all brand new
to me. First thing I noticed was Korori - whose face Nagi wore
as a mask at the end of the Doujinshi Arc - here revealed to be
a mascot character in an anime. Korori guides us along as
Futaba, our main character, enters her first professional
voice-acting job on a new mecha anime. We meet Ichigo
("strawberries from head to toe" - yum |3) and Rin, the other
major characters, and learn a lot about how voice acting
sessions go in Japan. Not a tonne of humour, but a promising
start!

Shall try to get through ch.501 quickly... also, lovely Ayumu
cover!
Yukiji tricks the terrorists - apparently lead by Ginga Banjou -
into going to the fifteenth floor, to confront "Hayate Ayasaki".
Banjou leads everyone off despite knowing it's a trap. XD All
the while, Hayate and Hinagiku realise that this is actually a
terrorist situation.
Yukiji and Sonia defeat the guards around the hostages, but
Yukiji then says she'll only rescue them if they press their
Completer buttons. Hayate and Hina turn up and try to stop her,
but Yukiji points out that it will make things easier for them
to win. Hina is unswayed, but Hayate ponders it. Sonia goes to
take out Hina, and Yukiji points out to Hayate that they can
take out Hina as the obstacle to them getting money. Hayate is
still caught in the middle. :P Hina suggests they fight the
terrorists instead, and it ends up as a Katsura sister
argument... complete with Yukiji punching out Banjou when he
turns up. XDXD
Later, Hayate and Nagi reunite and ponder if the competition
will end now... only for Kananiwa to show up and say that it
shall continue - and the final part is in Las Vegas!
10 Word Summary!
'Sisterly arguments are the best way to resolve terrorist
situations.'
-Sore ga Seiyuu bonus-
Two episodes since last time... there's been some great little
moments of humour (Futaba's seiyuu is great with those XD), as
the girls continue working on Bodhisattvon and become the voices
of a web radio show... albeit with plenty of humorous difficulty
to start with. :P The chemistry with them is great and it's
making the show really fun to watch, even if it's not as
uproarious as its big brother HnG. Bonus points for cameo
appearances from Hakuou Academy and Atsumari, though. And I
managed to guess that the guest seiyuu in the second episode was
Koyomi Araragi's seiyuu! :D

A lovely Hayate no Gotoku birthday present for me!
The competitors arrive in Vegas - Hayate says it looks really
realistic compared to the other places, like it's based on
photos from 2009. :P Nagi tells him to be quiet. They discuss
how there are 107 hours and fifteen competitors left - Aika
appears and shows her determination having come this far. She is
worried about Hayate, Nagi, Hinagiku, Yukiji and Isumi as
competition, but isn't concerned about the other nine -
especially Izumi, who "can strip bare in only five minutes". XD
She gathers the nine up, and suggests they stick together after
the terrorist event, and work against the remaining five.
Izumi's ability to help is doubted. :P But Aika has a plan...
Which, basically, amounts to giving Yukiji 10,000 yen (of
Izumi's remaining 2.5 million from before) to use at the casino.
And when Yukiji doesn't win, she uses the debt card thing to
spend not 10,000, but 100,000 yen. She loses all of that too,
and the interest of 50% every ten days will, according to Aika,
lead to over 20 billion yen in a year, just from 10,000
borrowed. To that end, she offers to cover Yukiji's debts... if
Yukiji presses her Completer button. More than that, she says it
doesn't have to be done right now - Kayura observes that Aika
now has Yukiji to protect her from Hayate, Nagi, Hina and Isumi.
And all the while, Mikoto Tachibana greets someone she's not
seen in a long while... (Presumably Kananiwa. :P)
10 Word Summary!
'Yukiji burns through money; Aika conspires to manipulate and
win.'
-Sore ga Seiyuu bonus-
We've skipped ahead a bit now, as the girls complete recording
on Bodhisattvon (and Futaba meets Banjou Ginga at the wrap party
- that's what Sonia meant by the terrorist leader sounding like
him!) and finish work on the web radio show. They've failed
their auditions for other things, too. But it's okay, because
what's-his-face the radio manager tells the girls that he's
setting them up as an idol unit! Ichigo is hyped about this, but
of course the trio soon each realise their concerns and nerves
about it. Still, "Earphones" get an interview in a magazine,
fully published!
Odd that a series about voice-acting has gone from that, to web
radio, to an idol unit... but hey-ho. XD

... why did the previous post bleep out c@sino, and why only use
four asterisks?
Anyway, chapter 503.
Mikoto is indeed talking with Kananiwa. The latter says she has
something she must talk about, and calls her "Miko-nyah". Mikoto
asks that she not use her childhood nickname, and Kananiwa shows
off her King's jewel.
Then we get a page of Maria fan-service, and Hayate waking up
startled by it. Nagi notes it's the demon of Las Vegas, trying
to make the manga more interesting after opening with two
middle-aged women "who aren't particularly popular", and
exorcises the demon by shouting out who Mikoto is and what
volumes she first appeared in. XD All the while, Mikoto insists
that she knows nothing of the stone, calls Kananiwa "Kanegon"
(and is likewise told not to use the nickname), and asks why she
wants to know. Kananiwa says she wants the power that Yukariko
previously took. Mikoto wards her off, saying it's a
meaningless, unusable power and an unattainable dream for both
Kananiwa and Mikado. As Kananiwa goes to leave, Mikoto implies
that the level 5 trip is all about finding a successful
candidate to open the path (she says the explosion of negative
emotion can only come from "the failure of a great desire").
We then get a page of Nagi bunny-girl fan-service, before she
mentions in monotone that the demon has possessed her. Hayate is
unconvinced. They then discuss that it's been quiet since they
arrived in Vegas, and wonder if the final battle has begun
without them (Hayate insists "that can't be! We're some pretty
major characters!" XD). Sakuya then appears in another
service-spread, telling them that the battle has indeed already
begun. Hayate and Nagi presume she's also been ensnared by the
demon. She insists she's just dressing up. XD
Mikoto's butler clarifies that she used to be nicknamed
"Miko-nyah". The narrator says he worries about this manga. :P
10 Word Summary!
"Service breaks up an interesting chat; Kananiwa's intentions
are unveiled."

A focus on Ichigo this time, as she secures a role as a support
character in a game, a "bug" (or macrovirus XD) called Sapporo.
She has to attend a press conference party thingy, too, and the
star of the game shall also be there... Yui Horie! :D Ichigo's
all panicked about her upcoming career and pretty much
everything, but seeing Horie's totally normal side combined with
her utter professionalism helps, as well as showing her how far
she still has to go. Yui Horie was great in it, and it was a fun
episode with one of the most adorable, gif-able moments EVER!

So. It's been a while.
And what a hell of a chapter to make up for the lengthy break!
Chapter 504 focuses on Mikado and Kananiwa discussing what she's
learnt about the King's Jewels, summarising things we knew and
adding some interesting new facts. To go over it briefly (rather
than properly summing up the chapter XD)...
Contrary to Mikado's belief that there were only nine stones,
Yukariko, Hatsuho and Mikoto found all twelve stones (in an
altar drawn up with constellations), and decided to keep three
to themselves. Yukariko knew they were special and the three
they kept represented their bonds. Yukariko was then drawn to
"Himegami Land" by the Royal Power, gave her stone to Himegami,
the Power was used and then returned to the Royal Garden. A
dozen years later, Mikado met a very adult-looking Himegami as
he searched for the Power. This is when we get Mikado acquiring
child geniuses and eventually finding Athena. Apparently she
opened the path herself - her father's passing (her last family
member) or the inheritance issues after it may have been what
caused her despair. I suppose this was after she translated the
inscriptions, or else they wouldn't have been hunting a
candidate that time.
The trio entered the Garden, encountered Midas, and their seven
remaining stones (12 - 3 - 2 (Athena's and Hayate's)) lost their
light. Mikado assumed that Hayate stole the Power with his
stone, but Kananiwa has deduced that it was Yukariko, this time
using Hatsuho's stone (as she was out of touch with Mikoto at
the time, as Mikoto didn't approve of her marriage). She
suggests that the Power draws its true master to it. Yukariko
used the Power and it returned to the palace again. Kananiwa
adds that there'd be two lightless stones in the Sanzenin
mansion - which is true! Those are Yukariko's one that Himegami
borrowed, and Hatsuho's one that Yukariko used.
Kananiwa reels off the fates of the other stones. Four have been
destroyed in the past while (apparently Mikado destroyed one
himself...? Also, I'll have to double-check what happened to the
stone Aika had, maybe that was either the one Mikado destroyed
or the one Hayate "stole" before). Of the remaining known five,
she has one, Mikoto has another (or not now - Wataru does!),
Alice has her ring one, and there are two others, which she
presumes have been handed out to others like her in an attempt
to break the curse. She notes it'd be tough to get them back
from who she guesses has them. She explains that she shall find
a candidate via the Level 5 trip and open the path.
Alice then pops up, noting that Mikado has a way for being
mocked by his younger female relatives. She asks what he plans
to do to stop Kananiwa getting the power - he says he has a
trump card, and she asks when those have ever worked out. XD
I'll update my plot working-out soon - maybe come the end of
this arc - but I want to try and go over the stones...
Three amongst the girls:
1. Yukariko's, lent to Himegami to use the power before,
lightless, in Sanzenin mansion
2. Hatsuho's, used by Yukariko ten years ago, lightless, in
Sanzenin mansion
3. Mikoto's, given to Wataru
Nine given to Mikado, with the first two:
4. Athena's, within her ring, lightless, pawned by Hayate's
parents but now back in her possession
5. Hayate's, taken by Ikusa, most recently destroyed by Isumi
Seven left, all without light:
6. one given to Hayate early on, destroyed by Nagi in Mykonos
7. Kananiwa's
8. one in Mikado's mansion, destroyed by Isumi
9. one given to someone by Mikado
10. another given to someone by Mikado
And then there's one that Mikado destroyed and/or the one Aika
had. I mean, Aika's maybe be stone 9 or stone 10... there's a
bit of an error with Kananiwa saying there are only five stones
left, seemingly of Mikado's nine, and yet includes Mikoto's. We
may still have one stone entirely unaccounted for, since
Mikoto's original stone seems to be the one she passed down to
Wataru (which no one else knows about).
Still, lots of juicy info! Still no idea what Yukariko used the
Power for, though. :P
10 Word Summary!
"Kananiwa divulges her juicy research on the story's big
mysteries."
-Sore ga Seiyuu bonus-
Three episodes to cover, so I'll just play it general and say
that there's been lots of sweet fun and seiyuu-flavoured
shenanigans. I like how we're following newbies who are
encountering new situations all the time, and that the guests
are used as professionals to guide them (Rie Kugimiya was in
episode 6 :P). Earphones is also going well, and Futaba meeting
a huge fan of hers was adorable. I hope he shows up again,
they're so cute together. XD And she needs the boost. All three
girls are great in their own ways, though I think Ichigo is my
favourite.

Site's playing up so I can't save the chapter pages... but then
I don't need to do an in-depth overview for this one.
Kenjiro Hata has a new manga starting! It's called Ad Astra Per
Aspera. The cover for the HnG chapter suggested you read the new
manga before this, so... I did! Anime/manga 38, with about two
minutes between learning of it and getting into it! It's pretty
promising so far, and not only did Chiharu and Alice have tiny
demonstrative cameos (I'm pretty certain this is a separate
canon though, hence 38), but the Imperial Army robot soldiers
seem to have the King's Jewels symbols on their faces. Which is
cool!
Meanwhile, Nagi is worrying that Hata working on that Ad
Whatever manga, and Sunday announcing that some manga will be
ending, means HnG is to end. Analysing Ad Astra Per Aspera, they
decide they need more robots and slightly mysterious people. So
Eight and Fumi get called in. Fumi says the best selling points
are sex appeal, violence and gore; Eight attacks Hayate, who
fights back and somehow generates gore through his violence.
Then we get nearly-naked Sharna for the sex appeal. :P (Not that
she's happy about it.)
10 Word Summary!
"A shameless plug for new manga, garbed in fun humour."
-Sore ga Seiyuu bonus-
This week focused on Aoi Konno, following her throughout the
season so far and into this episode's main plot, as we see her
focus and determination in trying to guide Futaba towards
success. T'was a very sweet episode, with nice humour dotted
through. And more Atsumari! We need a Ruka cameo somewhere... or
Hinagiku, since we actually saw inside Hakuou this week or last.
