I'm in the midst of another HnG read-through - meaning it's over
two years since I started this thread (my mid-read-through
review was on page 2!). Found a few neat things so far,
including some Kamen Rider references, and Hinagiku noting in
chapter 36 that 'easy-to-understand manga and names are
important!'. Funny considering the help she later gives Ruka. :P
So, chapter 475 has a gorgeous underwear-clad Chiharu on the
cover! With antlers and a Christmas tree, cos y'know,
festivities. She's also changing in the opening page, with
Sakuya informing her that she's hot. XD Yep, time for some
Haru-san - although Sakuya decides to make the most of Chiharu's
cute/hotness by putting her in a new maid outfit. The ribbons,
frills and miniskirt apparently increase her cuteness by 120%.
:P With that, they head out - Chiharu is freaked out at going
around in a maid outfit (and puts in a sly dig at Maria XD), but
it's okay, because they're off to Akihabara.
Where they promptly bump into Hayate. XD
Chiharu freaks out, as with her new dress she's even more
embarrassed at the prospect of her friends finding out about her
maid job; she puts on a voice and tries to hide/distort her
face, but Hayate just thinks of her as Sakuya's maid Haru-san.
He then mutters Chiharu's name... but is mistaken, it was just
someone passing by who looks (barely, besides having glasses)
like Chiharu. XD The meeting goes fine, and it's only moments
later that Chiharu bumps into Ayumu in HER maid clothing.
They're both surprise, and ask the other why they're dressed as
a maid.
Worth noting, considering Chiharu is in the restaurant at the
start of the film, where Ayumu is working in her maid costume,
we're still obviously not at that point yet. But likely very
close to it.

Read through volumes 1-32, just shy of 350 chapters. Meaning 12
more to read, of what we have so far, which naturally
includes...
Chapter 476! Izumi cleavage shot! :P
We return to the video koshien introduced late in the Doujinshi
Arc (I can no longer remember why XD). The Student Council Trio
are explaining to Yukiji how they've gotten through to the final
of the competition, and show her their initial two successful
cat videos. The first happens to have a lorry crashing and a
mugging in the background. The second is just Hina playing with
a kitten - it got the most votes EVER in the competition. :P
Still, they've run out of ideas for cat videos. Yukiji
encourages them, with the intention of getting the 10 million
yen winnings, and suggests they film a prank video.
Pranking Hayate, of course. :P It's decided that the prank will
be Izumi confessing to him. It can't be Risa because he'd just
reject her instantly. Izumi gets hurried out as Hayate heads off
to meet Aika (assumedly this is during ch.474), and she
confesses... much to his... I can't explain his expression. XD
Izumi quickly adds that it's what some other girl said. Hayate
says that he knows. XD

Chapter 477, on Christmas day no less! :P (Well, obviously it's
still August in-manga...)
Hina's working alone at Café Donguri, with Alice observing. Saki
comes in, asking for hot milk and worrying over her love issues.
Alice notes that Hina has the same problem as Saki, but Hina
insists on coaching her, passing on the frills advice.
Chiharu is next in, worried over wearing the frilly maid uniform
in Akiba. Hina thinks it's another love problem and tells her
"you and frills are a perfect match". XD
Ayumu arrives, fretting over Hayate and Konoha kissing. This
time, Hina thinks its homework problems. :P Still, the advice
she gives about facing it head-on and finding the
misunderstanding actually helps. Alice remains the straight man.

Almost a month later, chapter 478 is here!
Nagi and Maria are watching Ruka perform on TV, which brings up
the point that Nagi is supposed to have another mangaka battle
with her in the future and hasn't put any thought towards manga
since their competition ended. Kayura adds that Nagi's victory
only came from Maizumi telling his 100 friends to go and buy her
manga for themselves as it's an interesting read. XD Nagi notes
her plan to get serialised in Shounen Sunday (Kayura doesn't
even know what Sunday is while Nagi notes it's losing steam XD),
and it's decided that she needs to do some research into love
comedies. She looks at Maria, then leads Kayura off. :P
They visit Akiba, where Nagi points out Wataru to Kayura. She
then tells her to go and confess to him, which freaks Kayura
out. They discuss what's too far in a surprise confession, and
Kayura suggests that she should get to know him first - it might
even naturally turn into love comedy, she suggests while
blushing adorably. X3 Saki leaves the store, and Kayura quickly
picks up that she must love Wataru if she works for him when
he's poor. Nagi is stunned, and suggests throwing Kayura in to
stir up a love triangle. Kayura again worries that it might
actually work, which further excites Nagi; Kayura suggests she
confess with "I love you, nyan <3", and that's enough to stop
Nagi. :P

Chapter 479... Fumi-chan. XDXD
I'll try to be brief with this - Fumi wants a helper robot (some
mention is made about a film, so I'm guessing like Baymax or
whatever?). Mainly to gradually take over the role of lifesaver
from her, out of laziness. Anyway, Shiori just so happens to be
passing by with Eight. :P Fumi bugs her about building her a
robot, and Shiori shows off a couple of her terrible robots
before introducing a (lewd-looking) gynoid. In the end, Fumi is
guilt-tripped into accepting the robot, who gets named Ell-chan
(deriving from L, for lewd :P).
Turns out, Ell-chan is hungry. For rice. Expensive rice. XD

Would be nice to get a new guy or two, we've had so many new
girls in the last five years and next to no new guys. I know
it's partially a harem manga, but with Wataru's role diminished,
the gender balance feels so far out of whack...

480 begins with a full Ell-chan... who complains that she's
practically naked and needs clothes to fit in. Well, not
hand-me-downs. So that's more of Fumi's money spent. XD Then her
stomach rumbles again.
They take Ell to Nagi, and we learn that she's the fifth android
produced by Shiori (the first got destroyed and 2-4 fled at
this... XD), and that some of the differences between robots and
humans is that robots don't need sleep, are epic at games and
are constantly connected to 2ch. Maria observes that Shiori has
built a hikikomori. XD Apparently, her aim is to fix humans'
hearts.
We cut to Ayumu, still worrying over Hayate and Konoha - she's
alone with him at the apartments now, and her attempts at
getting his attention fail, as ever (sweeeaaaat...). She instead
has him run her a bath... and then, towel-clad, asks him if
he'll join her.

Double bill of chapters!
481, Ayumu peels away her towel and reveals she's still got some
clothing on. XD Flustered Hayate leaves her to her bath. Ayumu
thought he'd react differently, and feels that his blush might
give her a chance. Cue her in a sailor uniform! She asks Hayate
if she's a cutie in it (she is X3), but Hayate continues on
despite being flustered. Ayumu then resorts to another option,
bypassing frills altogether and goes straight for a school
swimsuit. She realises her situation, sitting in the living room
wearing a swimsuit, and how it makes little sense that she's
wound up like this because she saw Hayate kissing Konoha. She
asks him about the kiss, and he tells her the actual situation
(girl being forthright, and misunderstandings being explained?
What is this manga? :P). Ayumu asks if he'd kiss her too.

So, we see Ayumu ask Hayate if he'll kiss her. Then we see Hina
with the most amazing blush. XD She rushes off, leaving the two
alone. Meanwhile, Alice and Isumi are discussing the apartments'
secret room, that Himegami's family protected the power, and
that it must have been used ten years ago to have been in the
Royal Garden. She's also confused about the number of stones.
Isumi keeps throwing jargon words around, then brings out her
magical item called an iPad, which houses a robot called Siri
(Alice is astounded XD).
Isumi tries to ask Siri for help, but gets through to Sakuya.
Alice suggests they have someone who knows how to use the iPad.
Fumi shows up, declaring they've found someone with a problem,
and Isumi and Alice are introduced to Ell. They ask if Ell can
help them use Siri, and when Ell asks what they need to know,
they discuss it and come to this: "What is 1+1+4+1+3?" Ell asks
Siri and gets the answer 10.
Maria: They had an android use an iPad to have Siri do a
calculation?
Sharna: That is one high-level Rube Goldberg Machine.
Fumi and co. all head off again, and the iPad is left behind.
Hina picks it up, and asks Siri about love troubles. Siri
doesn't understand the question. XD

483, with a flashback to Hina's childhood birthday!
Hinagiku's thinking over Ayumu's asking for a kiss, and frets
over her stepping up like Ruka did. However, she also recalls a
mention of 'too', and decides to go and investigate. At night,
Hayate meets up with Konoha; she apologies for her actions, he
says he should've dodged. He adds that he cannot go out with
her, and she thanks him, departing. Hina then pops up, and asks
why he would turn down a relationship with a girl like Konoha.
Hayate says that she was likely mistaken about her feelings.
Hina instead asks what he would do if (hypothetically, of
course!) she confessed and meant it. He says he would love to be
loved by Hina... but would still have to turn her down, because
he's a butler with a huge debt and doesn't feel he can date
someone. As he escorts her back to the apartments, Hina ponders
if this means removing his debt would allow him to go out with
her...

484, and the end of summer vacation! Nagi is mourning, despite
all the things she's done this year. Ultimately, Hayate and
Maria suggest she go and make a final few memories, although she
notes she'd rather stay at home.
Hayate leads the group to Café Donguri, where they have a
parfait competition on - if you eat the whole thing in 30
minutes, it's free. Hayate is insistent that this is the
important bit. :P Ayumu greets the trio, and Hayate orders a
parfait for each person (if you alone eat it, you get a 500 yen
coupon). While Nagi and Maria savour the taste, Hayate eats his
within moments. He then goes to help Maria, with their
"flirting" annoying Nagi. Eventually, only Nagi's is left, with
a minute to go. It doesn't get finished. :P Hayate leads them
off to make more memories, as Ayumu ponders the flirty
atmosphere between Hayate and Maria.

A new term begins in ch.485! Nagi is less enthused than she
appears, but as Hayate takes her to school, he informs her that
they have the annual 2nd year trip to look forward to (among
other events). Kayura asks about it all the while (apparently
Hawaii is a typical destination that the Student Council trio
are bored of), and Chiharu states she doesn't mind where it is
as long as she's with her friends. Aika challenges that - she
teases the level 5 trip.
Hinagiku fronts an assembly, and explains the first four level
trips (mostly nice places to visit, often with additional fees
running in the millions; level 4 is basically a workshop, with a
Disneyland trip at the end). Then Director Kananiwa, of the
board of directors, steps up to explain level 5 - a 10 day
competitive trip, which dropping out of results in staying in
the hotel for the rest of the trip. The prize for winning is 150
million yen - and as we see Kananiwa's face, she looks just like
Dolly, and has a King's jewel earring! Isumi and Alice observe
this and Alice says she'll need to visit Mikado, while Hina
ponders paying off Hayate's debt with the winnings. Back at the
mansion, Nagi states her plan to take part and drop out on day 1
(Maria suggests she do level 4 instead), and Chiharu informs
Kayura that, again, she'll do what everyone else does so long as
they can be together.
Dun dun duuuuun! (The side bit mentions a great dance
competition... I don't recall this at all. Maybe a light novel
plot? Though I think there's only been the one...)
