OK, so we start ch.466 off with confirmation that yes, the watch
is the Kurotsubaki! Hayate borrows it for the journey back out
of the vault as it shows the correct time.
When he returns to Nagi, who's been watching anime, she's
bleeding and worse for wear. :P He notes that there were many
traps on the way back, but hands over the King's Jewel and asks
Nagi to return the watch. Then collapses. XD
The next morning, Nagi hands over the stone to an annoyed
Mikado, and notes that Hisui and any of the other inheritors
will have to deal with Hayate. As they leave, Alice approaches
Mikado, and warns him to be careful about his plan. He boasts
that it's going fine... before Isumi fires through the window
and destroys the King's Jewel. Alice notes that he'll now have
to try harder to get another stone, and then gives him a
'jumping chance' - that is, if he tells her how to regain her
true Athena self, she'll give him a stone. She notes that it
doesn't have to be now, but it should be soon...
In approximately four months, the Royal Garden will be
destroyed.
:o
10 Word Summary!
'Kurotsubaki, destroyed King's Jewels, and a forewarning for the
end.'

Review 100! And what a chapter to review!
Alice explains why the Royal Garden will be destroyed - with
visual aid from whiteboard diagrams. :P Basically, the Royal
Garden is a seal created by King Midas to make the Power of
Royalty his. It can be removed from the Royal Garden, but once
it's used it returns (explains the empty coffin in the
apartments, though not the room being marked up the same unless
that's some kind of attempt to keep the Power locked in). The
Shirozakura is the main power source for the seal, and with it
gone, the seal will be broke, the Royal Garden will be destroyed
(epic drawing of the RG here that Alice is very proud of XD),
and the Power will be left out in the world. It'll also be
harder to utilise, especially as the King's Jewels are part of
the seal.
At the apartments, Nagi declares that she's leaving. Hina,
Ayumu, Chiharu and Kayura are shocked, especially that Nagi took
one day to find another Jewel. :P Ayumu suggests throwing a
leaving party, but Nagi says it's pointless as she can still see
them and contact them daily. She leaves with Hayate and Maria in
tow, as the others watch on. Upon returning to the mansion (it
feels like three years, they say ;D (well it's over three, but
then we had that few-month-break and stuff...)), Nagi is excited
at all the amazing things she's been without and how amazing
they now feel, such as her comfy bed and her PS5 (XD) on a
massive HD screen. Hayate leaves her to play, and as Nagi
engages in her game, she steadily realises how lonely she
already feels.
10 Word Summary!
"Alice explains the Royal Garden, and lonely Nagi moves out."
I'll definitely be adding the Royal Garden info here to my
plot-working-out, though I may await one or two more bits of
info before making a new post.

Chapter 468! Nagi's no longer sure what she used to do in the
mansion, and tries to help Hayate and Maria to no avail (even
breaking a vase while insisting she can help clean :P). As she
ponders the apartments, Hayate calls her for a luxurious dinner.
Nagi thinks how his cooking was wasted on the apartment
residents, all the while welling up. Hayate brings out dessert
and asks if everything is okay - before Nagi can properly
answer, Chiharu appears, with the others in tow. Kayura wanted
to see Nagi's mansion, apparently, and though Nagi insists that
the others are being noisy and nosey, she's obviously happy
inside. Chiharu brushes it off casually to Maria as just
visiting a friend, as Nagi and Kayura sit down to play games
with Hina, Ayumu and Alice watching on.
10 Word Summary!
'Chiharu and co. save the day as Nagi feels down.'

Re: Hayate no Gotoku chapter reviews

This damn chapter!
We start with a flashback to Yukariko and Himegami - Himegami
Aoi, to be precise - in the Mystery Room (I believe). Himegami
is explaining the Power of Royalty, and that he cannot use it as
he doesn't have a King's Jewel with a glow. Yukariko begins
talking to a voice beyond her stone, and promises to save them.
Nagi wakes up, and recounts this to Hayate as a dream, though
she claims something feels off. Maria then brings up the large
amount of dust that's built up in the mansion, and Nagi adds
that dust builds up on anything in time. Including manga. :P
Mangaka will write in foreshadowing at the start, but by ten
years, it all becomes too much and they can't get back to it
until the end of the story. She begins shouting out questions to
other manga. XD She claims the only option is to clean up the
dust. Maria then tells Hayate that she came to the Sanzenin
family to decipher the inscription below the Mykonos villa.
Maria and Aika were two genius children selected by a determined
Mikado to learn languages in a hope to translate the Phrygian
text. The image shown is the INITIAL PAGE FROM VOLUME 9!!!
Hayate and Nagi are shocked that this info has been thrown out
so casually. :P Neither of them were able to decipher the text,
but Athena was.
At the school, Hinagiku is yelling at Yukiji to tidy up her room
(Yukiji insists it's in perfect balance :P), as Athena notices a
ring in a drawer. Yukiji explains that when she tried and failed
to pawn her guitar as she was too attached to it, she bought the
cheapest item there so that her trip wasn't pointless. She lets
Athena have it.
Back at the mansion, Hayate finds two dead King's Jewels, which
Nagi says belonged to her mother (well, one was from Yukariko's
drawer and the other was given to her by 'some woman', who
claimed it was Yukariko's). Hayate adds this to the ring Athena
gave him - the one Yukiji bought from the pawn shop - which also
apparently had a dead stone in it, and recalls Mikado claiming
that three stones had been lost and six remain. Hayate notes
that the numbers don't add up - not sure quite what he means
here, because he sees three lost stones - and asks Nagi about
the light in the stones. Nagi doesn't know, but one of
Yukariko's two had its light when she had it.
In the past, Himegami suggests Yukariko use the Power of Royalty
via the King's Jewel, and when she hesitates, he says he'll use
it first, asking for the stone.
Nagi realises what was off about the dream - the boy wasn't
Himegami.
10 Word Summary!
'Dust gets cleaned up with lots of epic, juicy revelations!'
No chapter next week, so I'll update my grand theory then, and
the next chapter will have 10th anniversary colour pages!

Hayate no Gotoku Running Plot Analysis - Part 2
OK, to start off, a quote of just my summary (including
guess-work) from part 1...
[quote author=Ashes link=topic=13.msg452#msg452
date=1399302739]Mikado desired the Power of Royalty to heal
Yukariko. To that end, he and Athena hunted for a candidate to
open the path to the Royal Garden – Mikado found Hayate, and
gave him a King’s Jewel without informing Athena. The two later
found multiple candidates, including Maria and Himegami. In the
end, Himegami was chosen, but the quest into the Royal Garden
failed as Athena was cursed and Mikado and Himegami were forced
to abandon her. Eventually, Ikusa obtained Hayate’s King’s Jewel
and rescued Athena from the Royal Garden, by using the
Shirosakura and the Power of Royalty. Ikusa vanished shortly
after – perhaps on a mission related to the Power, or perhaps
being sent off by Yukariko – and Yukariko entered the Royal
Garden, taking the Power of Royalty. Athena remained sleeping
for a year, finding the path closed once she awoke. From here,
it seems that she and Mikado uses Hakuou Academy as a means of
keeping the location of the path free from investigation.
Yukariko passed away two years after obtaining the Power of
Royalty; what she did with it is unknown. At some point, Ikusa
touched another King’s Jewel and lost his memories of the past
several years.
More recently, Mikado has performed various plans involving the
King’s Jewel, using the Sanzenin inheritance as a mask to try
and have Jewels destroyed and recovered. While his true
intentions are unknown, as the Power of Royalty is no longer in
the Royal Garden, it is apparent that Hisui, too, wishes to
enter the Royal Garden, and has Yozora attempting to remove any
evidence hinting towards it from Hayate and the others. Mikado
doesn’t want Hisui to have access to the Royal Garden, and his
attempt to have Hayate retrieve a new King’s Jewel for Nagi
could be more about regaining some control over the situation.
Of course, with what Sonia mentions about the Power of Royalty,
it and the Sanzenin inheritance could possibly be one and the
same, or at least connected.
Lastly, there is the Violet Mansion – previously used to store a
power that may be connected to the Power of Royalty, or indeed
be it itself, which vanished thirty years ago. More recently, an
image of Himegami, circa the attempt to find a candidate, was
placed within the Violet Mansion.[/quote]
And just a straight list of the facts since then:
Ch.450 - visual confirmation that the Power of Royalty is within
the Royal Garden coffin
Ch.450 - Yukariko enters the Royal Garden to rescue "a friend"
Ch.450 - Athena awakens almost immediately after being taken out
of the Royal Garden
Ch.459 - Ikusa's King's Jewel destroyed
Ch.460 - Isumi destroyed the Jewel for Alice
Ch.460 - "[Hayate] has to put up with this for a much greater
purpose"
Ch.465 - Kurotsubaki
Ch.466 - Kurotsubaki confirmed
Ch.466 - Isumi destroys Mikado's King's Jewel
Ch.466 - Alice blackmails Mikado; info on how to regain her true
self for a stone
Ch.466 - Royal Garden will be destroyed in approximately four
months
Ch.467 - Royal Garden is a seal by Midas to make the Power of
Royalty his
Ch.467 - Power returns to the Garden once used
Ch.467 - Shirozakura powers the seal; it's gone, Royal Garden
destroyed, POR released
Ch.467 - harder to utilise seal-less POR, as King's Jewels are
part of the seal
Ch.469 - "Himegami" talks about POR to Yukariko, Yukariko talks
to a disembodied voice who she promises to save
Ch.469 - Maria and Aika found by Sanzenin family to decipher
Mykonos inscription
Ch.469 - neither could decipher it but Athena could
Ch.469 - Athena's ring includes a King's Jewel
Ch.469 - Yukariko had two stones, one was given to her by "some
woman" who claimed it was Yukariko's
Ch.469 - "Himegami" suggests Yukariko use her stone to use POR,
and asks for the stone when she hesitates
Ch.469 - "Himegami" is not Himegami
I included the Kurotsubaki as its random inclusion - especially
as it is, as far as I'm aware, erroneous with the knowledge that
it is in Vegas in "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" - may indicate
some kind of involvement with the main story. But then it may
not.
So...
30 years ago, Yukariko is shown the Power of Royalty in its
Violet Mansion coffin by a person who claims to be Himegami Aoi
(this content is seen via a dream of Nagi's - the figure is
shown as a young Akane Himegami, but Nagi notes that it is not
him, so whether Aoi looks the same or not, we can't be sure
yet). Yukariko hears a disembodied voice who she promises to
save, although she is hesitant to make use of the Power of
Royalty via her working King's Jewel (found in her father's
house some time before). Aoi asks to use it instead. Presumably,
this is the point at which the Power of Royalty left the
apartments, returning to its true home in the Royal Garden and
its coffin after being used by Aoi (or perhaps by Yukariko after
all). At around this point, Yukariko promised the building to
Klaus. Whether or not Aoi was the rich person who gave her the
building in the first place, or was connected to them, is at
present unknown. It could be that it is Aoi, and not Akane, who
Athena refers to when she calls the Violet Mansion "Himegami's
land" - they could even be related and she means both.
Twenty years later, Mikado is attempting to decode the Phrygian
inscription below the Sanzenin mansion in Mykonos (which may
well have been bought or purchased due to the inscription in the
maze below). It is possible that Mikado wanted to gain the Power
of Royalty so as to heal his ill daughter - though it is also
possible that he did not know of the Power of Royalty until the
inscription was translated (that said, he would need another
reason to decode the inscription if he didn't know of the
Power). He recruited prodigy children, including Maria and Aika,
to try and translate it. They failed.
At this point, Mikado finds Athena, who correctly translate the
inscription, assumedly meeting Maria at some point. I'm a little
confused with the chronology, though: during The End of the
World, Athena sees Maria in the Mirror of the Celestial Sphere,
and she appears to be in Mykonos. With the current information,
the only reason for Maria to be in Mykonos would be to see the
inscription in-person. The failed journey into the Garden had
obviously happened by then, but then there may be another reason
for Maria to be in Mykonos. Mikado and Athena plotted the
journey into the Royal Garden, but needed a candidate to enter -
a person showing despair. Mikado found Hayate, but chose not to
use him (or perhaps selected him as a personal back-up or for
another contingency entirely) and gave him a King's Jewel
without informing Athena, telling her it was lost. This Jewel
later allowed Hayate into the Royal Garden; the Jewel later
wound up in Ikusa's hands, and he too used it to enter the
Garden. Most recently, Isumi has destroyed this Jewel.
Akane Himegami ended up as the chosen candidate - he, Mikado and
Athena entered the Royal Garden, assumedly using three King's
Jewels (Athena was, or wound up, in the form of a ring). Along
the way, they failed in their mission to acquire the Power of
Royalty, Athena's stone lost its light, and she wound up
remaining inside the Royal Garden while Mikado and Himegami
escaped. Athena stayed in the Royal Garden (and became a host
for Kind Midas) until Hayate stumbled upon it in his despairing
state. After their brief relationship and subsequent
falling-out, Ikusa (having just helped Yukariko) ended up with
the stone and headed into the Royal Garden to find and free
Athena. In doing so, he took the Shirozakura - without realising
that doing so would cause the Royal Garden to fall apart over
the next ten years. At the same time, Yukariko took the
opportunity to enter the Royal Garden and rescue her 'friend',
quite possibly the same being as the disembodied voice some
twenty years before. She successfully obtained the Power of
Royalty, which may hint that the Power itself was the 'friend'.
We can assume that the Power has since returned to the Garden.
Athena awakens twice, first to witness Ikusa being arrested, and
then properly a year later. She and Mikado seemingly set up
Hakuou Academy to guard or investigate the entrance to the Royal
Garden. Ikusa went on to touch a second King's Jewel and lost
his memories (possibly reverting to a slightly younger physical
form too, akin to Athena). Ten years after the first attempt to
enter the Royal Garden, Mikado has set in motion a plan to
regain a King's Jewel (or more than one) beside the one he still
owned. Quite what his intentions are, considering he already
owns a stone, is uncertain. Certainly, I'm not entirely sure
which ones have lights and which ones do not. Of course, Mikado
needs a stone with a light if he intends on re-entering the
Garden, which seems to be his intention. With two further stones
destroyed by Isumi on Athena's request, it is evident that
Athena has no interest in letting Mikado enter the Garden so
easily. Mikado had Aika give Athena a second Jewel, activating
the physical temporal rewind, seemingly trying to keep her out
of the game in the same way. It is also worth noting that Mikado
does not want Hisui to get the Sanzenin inheritance - as this is
his excuse for Nagi to regain her inheritance, and find him a
stone in the process, this may either be a lie or have a
connection to the Royal Garden (especially as Hisui herself
seems to want access to the Royal Garden, having had Yozora
investigate Ruka as a candidate).
So basically...
- Yukariko encountered the Power of Royalty in the Violet
Mansion thirty years ago, and decided to save an unknown figure
- the Power was used and returned to the Royal Garden.
- ten years ago, Mikado had the Phrygian inscription translated
and journeyed into the Royal Garden with Athena and Akane
Himegami - Athena wound up cursed, later to be rescued by Ikusa,
who took the Shirozakura without realising the consequence.
- at this point, Yukariko entered the Royal Garden, rescuing the
unknown figure (presumably) and acquiring the Royal Power. It
seems that she used it and it returned to the Royal Garden.
- in the present, Mikado is again interested in the Power of
Royalty, as is Hisui. Mikado has even decided to let Nagi regain
the right to the inheritance, though this is likely just a ploy
to have her and Hayate perform the legwork of finding him a
King's Jewel. Isumi is destroying the stones for Athena.
- the Royal Garden shall be destroyed in four months, leaving
the Power of Royalty out in the world and harder to make use of.
Right now, the main questions are...
- who is Yukariko's "friend"? Is said friend the voice from 30
years ago? Is it the Power of Royalty itself or just related to
it?
- is Aoi Himegami a Himegami at all? If so, what relation is he
to Akane, and what circumstances lead Akane to being involved in
the Royal Garden heist, since it seems unlikely to be
coincidence?
- what does Mikado have planned for the Power of Royalty?
- what does Hisui have planned for the Power of Royalty?
- what is Athena aiming to do by preventing Mikado from entering
the Royal Garden?
I'll probably make a list of what King's Jewels we know of, who
had them and who owns them now, and maybe even whether or not
they have their light. I'll have to do some investigating to
find the information, though.
All in all, the last 25 chapters have given us a huge amount of
information in terms of clearing up details. Here's to 10 years
of Hayate no Gotoku and a bountiful future for this brilliant
manga! And as ever, I swear to crack this ASAP.

Chapter 471, the glorious return of Konoha Makise!
Hayate asks Maria for 128,500 yen - Maria says no, but Hayate
explains the situation of promising Konoha money in return for
the (astro)switch to the lava bridge. Nagi appears, saying that
mankind is doomed and attempting to keep the money from Hayate
(her lightness makes her easy prey XD).
Money in-hand, Hayate heads to the Makise house-hold. He finds
Mrs Makise coughing up blood, and when he goes to help her, she
refers to it as a fit. He calls her an old woman and she hits
him, calling it another fit. :P He puts her into her futon and
she believes he's coming onto her, which leads to her young son
Kanta walking in and being told that Hayate is to be his new
papa. XD Konoha finally shows up, breaks up the fuss and leads
Hayate outside.
She thanks him for the money and notes that, while she was
reasonably happy with her job at Mikado's, she now has to find a
new one, which she's been struggling with. At this point, Kanta
shows up, making clear that Konoha was quite taken by her
'Hayate-sama' and even rather wanted him to grope her chest -
which she staunchly denies to a blushing Hayate. XD With that
said, Hayate offers to help her find a job.
As the narrator says, the natural gigolo has done it again. :P
10 Word Summary!
'Konoha's back! And Hayate meets more crazy characters;
hilarious results.'

Hi, I'm posting this from beyond the grave. I died laughing. :P
Ayumu practices her moe greeting as she prepares for work as
Wataru's shop-maid. She narrates, stating that she'll show her
daily work routine with trouble thrown in... except nothing
interesting happened so she cuts to the end. XD Saki tends to a
sleeping Wataru, and Ayumu observes that they're less like a
master and maid, and more like a long-married couple. She
wonders when they'll get married.
*next page*
So she asks them.
XDXDXDXDXDXD
About a minute and a half later after composing myself and
catching my breath, and Wataru and Saki snap at her, before
Wataru asks about the boy Ayumu likes. Of course, it's
complicated, especially now that Hayate's not at the apartments
- well, except for when he's there cooking dinner. As Ayumu's
affections for him rise up again, she notices a grumpy Hinagiku
(well, she insists she's not grumpy). Alice notes that Hayate's
been spreading the disease again.
Ayumu is NOT happy to see Konoha running over to Hayate with the
laundry. XD
Chiharu and Kayura observe that Hayate's "done it again" and
question if he can't see how he's pouring oil onto the fire by
bringing her here. Ayumu questions in her head if Hayate's gone
"natural gigolo" again. :P She asks who Konoha is, and Hayate
explains the situation - Ayumu ponders the various types he's
attracted so far, and deigns to help Konoha get a job. It's two
birds with one stone, as Wataru's store is short-handed. Konoha
sincerely thanks Ayumu, who gets a little baffled by the kawaii.
XD
The next day, Hayate, Ayumu and Konoha head to the store, with
Hayate and Ayumu unaware that they both know Wataru until they
reach the store and Wataru himself approaches them. Ayumu goes
to introduce Konoha, but Wataru is more surprised at the
indebted butler's presence, and asks if he's the one Ayumu
loves. She tries to shut him up, as Hayate stands by awkwardly
and Konoha notes that Ayumu likes Hayate too.
10 Word Summary!
'Ayumu is adorable as ever, but love rivals spring eternal.'
Seriously, one of the biggest laughs since 'a helluva maid!'
Wish I'd known so I could record myself... :P

Chapter 473, which I read ages ago and have been too busy to
review... so I'll make it quick. XD
Saki overhears Ayumu's "confession" and decides to help her,
though in doing so she (and Ayumu) realises that her constant
companionship of Wataru gives more opportunity than Ayumu's time
living with Hayate ever did. Later, at the apartments, Ayumu
follows some of Saki's advice, and tries on some plain frilled
clothes. Hinagiku walks in wearing an old shirt and tracksuit
bottoms (and cute socks X3), and Ayumu snaps that this is why
she keeps failing. :P She lectures Hina on love being made with
little victories, though Hina remarks that working would be the
same as losing. Alice calls her childish. XD She adds that she
tried to phone Ayumu earlier; Ayumu realises she left her phone
at work, and heads off to pick it up. As she does, she considers
if love requires talent... and then sees Hayate (apparently)
kissing Konoha! Narration notes that if love requires talent,
Konoha must be a prodigy. XD
10 Word Summary!
'Hopeless Saki gives hopeless Ayumu advice. Cute socked Hina
feet!'

Chapter 474! Again, gonna be quick.
Hayate comes to Aika for advice regarding the fact that he's too
popular. Aika doesn't believe him at first (XD), and then goes
off on a tangent about her boyfriend/fiancé/butler (we see his
picture!) being useless on the trip to Tahiti. We also get an
explanation of Konoha's earlier discussion about liking him, and
Aika being surprised that she's not a flat-chested girl who
doesn't understand romance (we see Nagi and Hinagiku to
illustrate this XD). She adds that girls in love come across 20%
cuter, so he must be weary of that - they use a sweet voice
unheard in any other circumstances. Just then, the butler calls
and Hayate gets a timely demonstration of this sweet voice
(before Aika hits him after hanging up :P). She concludes with
some advice on how to handle the situation... which leads us up
to the kiss from last chapter! T'was a kiss after all!
Hayate hurries back to Aika, who thought that he WANTED to date
Konoha. :P
10 Word Summary!
'Aika is somehow brilliant and useless at the same time.'
Hey, got that in one go!
