The Song "Pancho and Lefty"

In the article I read in Rolling Stone just recently. Willie
Nelson tells a story about when he and Hag recorded this duet
together. The song was written by one of the greatest
songwriters of all time Townes Vanzandt. Willie says that Merle
sang his part when he was half asleep. Willie also jokingly says
that Merle can even sing good in his sleep.

It was a superb version. They took the song and made it their
own. I even like the remake they did of it a few years back.

Another interesting bit of trivia for you :
On the original lp cover of this album they mis spelled Pancho.
They spelled it "poncho". This was corrected on later pressings
to the correct spelling which is "pancho". If you look closely
at your cover, by Merle and Willie's names you can see if yours
is the correct spelling or not !

I always wondered about the meaning of Pancho and Lefty. I guess
it really has no particular meaning.
