Marvel NOW

The new Thor has been pretty good. Jason Aaron switches between
Thor in the past, present and future with the current story-line
referring to all three places in time. Esad Ribic's art is clean
and he's made a good effort with making each of the Thors stand
out. The current storyline has a creature that appears every
1000 years or so to essentially consume Gods. Thor calls him the
God Butcher and Thor of the future is the last Asgardian
standing. A grizzled Lord of Asgard in an empty kingdom. He just
sits and waits. He's lost an arm that has been replaced with one
from the Destroyer.

All new X-men has been fantastic. I loved this issue. Cyclops is
effed beyond belief. He is basically Magneto now.
Uncanny Avenger has been great. When it ships. I love Rogue as
an Avenger.
I wasn't sold on Avengers until this issue. Great trading of
quips between Tony and Steve through out the issue.

Yeah, I decided to give All New X-Men a try despite Bendis and
it's been enjoyable.
I'm still not sold on Cassaday's art. It's just weird and the
title has been a bit slow.
Hickman's Avengers has been a decent start. I'm liking it too
and Acuna's art is solid.
Still digging Hulk and Thunderbolts as well.

Being new to Marvel I feel I'd be lost on the current stuff.
That's why I downloaded a shit ton of silver age Marvel and
starting there. I gotta say I'm really enjoying it so far.
I'm in the middle of 1964 right now and it's really neat to see
all these characters and concepts being introduced.

I've not read a Marvel book in so long , I don't even know
what's going on.
I did love the Avengers movie though ;D...

It'd be surprisingly easy for you to start on the new stuff.
Almost all the major characters have a fresh start. While the
old history is preserved, you don't need to know any of it. Cap,
Thor, Hulk, Daredevil, etc, are all accessible.

Same old, same old. I'm a sucker for Thor and Cap and both their
titles are easy reads. Thor is especially good as Ribic's art is
gorgeous and Aaron has a pretty cool story going.

I've never really read much Marvel. Mostly know the characters
from TV and movies. If I was to start now, what would you
recommend?

i picked up all new x-men number five to see what becomes of the
beast and was pleased so i went and got the four back issues and
will stick with it ongoing.thor right now is a beautiful
book.i'd like to see the ock-spiderman storyline go for at least
a year i think they can get good stories from it.i think ock
will realize due to having his memories peter will always be the
better man and switch bodies back in some fashion but when peter
comes back he will have improved since he retained some of ock's
vaster intellect(just what i think).

okay, tried Thor and Uncanny Avengers. Love both so far. Amazes
me how much more 3D these Marvel characters are compared to DC.
I wonder if the DC writing is just that bad, or if it is
purposeful. Either way, I am going to continue with Thor and
Avengers for now. Might try some X-men too.

Hell yeah FP! :D
Thor is indeed kicking ass. It's nice when your fave character's
comic is actually readable.
