Story Two: Winter in Gwynned
Chapter One: Setting Out
100' in the sky
Traveling West from Abanasinia
Aboard the Navigator, Lashia is piloting via the spelljammer
helm. Also aboard is her husband, Talidaar, a Hierophant of
Chislev. Her stepdaughter, Marilee, the dwarves, Cleric of Reorx
Torin Stonebeard, and Ragrim Shattershield. They left Longshot
behind at the village of Digfel, and the Navigator is soaring
through the sky, traveling west. Soon, they are crossing the
Straits of Algoni to reach Southern Ergoth.
They pass over the land and see the nearly fully retreated
glacier, a remnant of the last fallen Dragon Overlord’s
dominance over the land.
They spy the Last Gaard Mountains to the West, and Lashia
adjusts the ship’s heading, travels south, and begins to near
the Foghaven Vale when they are met by Silver Dragons that flew
up from behind them. One of them recognizes the ship, and he
tells his fellow Silver, and they fly the Ship into the Vale.
Landing in the Valley at the Stone Monument, the landing struts
extend magically as the seagoing vessel lands.
They are met by a group of six Knights, led by Sir Grayson
Silver Dragon transforms down, and his Solamnic Armor reappears;
it is Chance, someone Lashia and the Dwarves met before.
The Dwarves Torin Stonebeard and Ragrim Shattershield return to
their friends at the monument of the silver dragon. They
reconnect with Bale Ironforge, Slade Grimblade, and Vorimir
Stoneaxe. Torin introduces Talidaar, and Bale Ironforge walks to
Talidaar and thanks him again for saving his life. Talidaar sees
that Bane is indeed the current bearer of the Silver Arm of
Ergoth. They share a moment of reconnecting. Talidaar meets
Slade Grimblade, and Vorimir Stoneaxe.
Some crates are taken to the Navigator to be hoisted aboard the
ship. Lashia magics the crates into the deck for the Dwarves;
they have not dealt with magic much, so they are still getting
used to knowing a wizard. They thank Lashia and get things ready
to leave.
Marilee says goodbye to her father.
Lashia and Talidaar say goodbye again, as he holds her in his
arms for a last long hug.
With everyone loaded up, the Navigator begins its return flight
to the mainland.

Lashia takes the Dwarves back to New Ports, where the Dwarves
are intending to head back to Digfel for the Winter, while she
and Marilee are headed for Northern Ergoth when they get done in
New Ports. The Dwarves say their goodbyes to the Elves they have
come to know. Lashia thanks them again for their help, and they
will see them again in the spring when the family returns. With
plans made, the dwarves stay the night at the Roaring Griffon in
New Ports and talk about hiring a wagon to take the dwarves to
Digfel. There is dissent, as Ragrim Shattershield says they
should winter in Pax Tharkas, but the idea is talked down as
food will be scarce in Pax Tharkas. Ragrim Shattershield says,
“The reason I believe we should buy some food here and take it
with us so we don’t draw from the Fortress’s food stores. The
reason I want us to go to Pax Tharkas is that we need to return
Barek Stormhammer’s family weapon to his sister.” That stops the
debate among the dwarves. They agree to head to Pax Tharkas
first.
-A Future Dwarf story will appear in this space, Chosen of Reorx
HTML https://thedamnforum.createaforum.com/chosen-of-reorx/
While at New Ports, Lashia and Marilee hire a crew.
The Navigator finds itself alone on the New Sea, and it lifts
off and flies to Northern Ergoth.

On Southern Ergoth
Talidaar asks the Knights if they have met or run into his son,
Nebriss, and or the Grand Druid? One of them has.
Talidaar asks him what he knows, and the Knight recounts how he
was recently at Castle Eastwatch and Nebriss, and the Grand
Druid of Chislev was with him. He knows no more than that. He
admits he was not in the room with the Knight Commander with
them.

Western Ansalon
Northern Ergoth
Gwynned, Capital of Ergoth
Port on Emperor's Bay
In Ergoth, it is H'rarmont, by Palanthan, Early Eleventhmonth
429 AC
The Hierophant's Galleon,The Navigator comes into land gently
into the Sirrion Sea, and they sail the rest of the way in.
Lashia disengages from the Spelljammer and helps where she can
and is not in the way. Marilee handles most of the sailing, but
she is surprised to see that Lashia has picked up on some things
over her years. The crew they hired on in New Ports helps them
get the ship into Emperor’s Bay and docks at the port. There is
some red tape that the girls have to accommodate and give over a
customary bribe to make it fully through customs without trouble
arising.

Soon, the crew is being paid and released, and Marilee hires a
carriage to take their wardrobe and things to an assigned
address. They get another carriage to travel with their
belongings. They travel from Port Town, across the Lantern
Bridge, crossing the Dermount River, and going into Old North
Town. They soon arrive at Las’s villa. Lashia will fly Sovost
over here later tonight. They knock and get Mikal’s assistance
getting everything from the other carriage. Lashia assists with
magic. Mikal had already warned Sator to stretch the truth and
say they are with their aunt. Mikal tells Lashia the same thing
when she asks him. They will be back later. Once Lashia and
Marilee are settled in, Mikal eyes Sator again as if to say
Remember what we talked about, then says to the girls that he is
“going to the market to pick up some things to make upon my
return.
Sator accounts for what he has learned during his studies with
his tutors. Marilee tells Sator she is happy to see him; she is
just down and not her usual self. She will practice swordplay
with him in a few days. Sator hugs Marilee, and Marilee fights
back the tears so she doesn't unload them onto her younger
brother. So, she goes numb and hugs him back and tells him she
is “glad to see him.”
So Sator continues his story, up to going to Wydara’s for a
couple of weeks and training with his aunt, and some gladiators
from her school. He added that he had seen Deara become very
good at fighting dual-handed with gladius swords.
After a while, Sator asks if he can show Marilee a few things in
the yard. Marilee agrees, if only to get some air.

Lashia looks to see if any laundry needs done, and she sees that
the laundry is not too bad. She looks to see what might be ready
to make this evening, to see if there is anything she can help
with. She decides to wait and look through her spellbook.

Story Two Winter in Gwynned
Chapter Three: Windrider
Western Ansalon
Northern Ergoth
Gwynned, Capital of Ergoth
Early the next morning, Lashia flew on the back of Sovost, her
lifelong friend, and Griffen mount, soaring above the snaking
Dermount River and its many bridges over the city so that Lashia
could get a sense of direction in the city. Once she has taken
it in, she has Sovost climb into the sky and fly out over the
Northern Ergoth countryside outside the Capital’s walls, she
directs Sovost to the north, and tries to stay away from any
horse riders and horse-drawn wagons. It has been a little while
since they got to fly together. They do not fly too far. Lashia
wanted to see Lancton, but could not from here. She eyes the
Dermount River and sees that some boats are transporting people,
and cargo is flowing both ways. She wants to take the kids to
Lancton in the future here soon.
Lashia can see Landfall to the south. She knows Sovost is
hungry, so she has Sovost take her back to Las’s, and then,
Lashia sends her griffin off so she can find something to eat.
Las and Mik are making Breakfast for the assembled family
(Marilee, Daera, and Sator).
Wheat cakes with honey and a berry jam.
After breakfast,
Lashia has some things on her agenda before she can fully turn
her attention to the children. The first thing is to report to
the chapterhouse that she is in the city and plans to stay for a
time.
Lashia hails a carriage ride to the Wizard’s Chapterhouse, where
she reports to the White Robe Representative of the Triumvirate
Mission in Ergoth. Leila DiThon is a highly regarded voice in
the White Robe order of Solinari for what she has accomplished
beyond who her famous parent are, Conclave Representative of the
White Robe Bram DiThon and Dagamier of the Black Robe, Conclave
Representative, student of Lodonna.
Lashia knows the story of Bram and Dagamier taking refuge in a
fey dimension for a time, surviving the chaos wight attack on
the southern tip of Northern Ergoth. It also kept them from
aging for a long while. Dagamier returned to the world first and
thus has aged a bit more than Bram. Leila DiThon also spent many
years in the fey lands. Leila walked the path of Good, like her
father, her own daughter, on the other hand, has favored her
Grandmother’s influences.

Coming here and meeting like this is all mostly a formality,
just taking into account who is about practicing magic. The
Chapterhouse governs magic in Northern Ergoth since no Tower is
present. The Chapterhouse represents the Conclave of High
Sorcery on this island. Leila takes the opportunity to invite
Lashia and the children to her Father’s Fiefdom for Dinner one
night. Besides their library at the estate, also of significance
to the area is the standing orthostat henge and the fey glen.
They ink out a possible date for the Dinner and say their
goodbyes, and Lashia heads back to Las’s via a carriage.

An invitation comes at noon from Princess Mercidith to get
fitted for a dress for the Ball that she wants made for Deara.
They will come to her at (11 am) the next day at Las’s House for
their convenience.
They are readying their villa for the next day’s visitors. Once
Lashia arrives and reads the invitation, she assists Las in
whatever needs to be done.
The Next Day,
Royal tailor picks up a measuring tape and addresses Daera,
“You’ll be wanting to get out of your overclothes and then come
back to be ready to stand tall for me for measurements.”
Daera disappears into her room and gets ready, while Lashia
looks over the designs they have laid out on the table, along
with the intended color palette. Daera comes back under a
bathrobe and prepares herself to be poked and prodded.
After an afternoon of measuring and fittings. The tailors
depart, saying they will be in touch soon. Life gets back to
normal around Las’s place. Over a late lunch, Lashia tells her
children of two excursions she wants them to go on before the
weather gets too bad. One, to the DiThon Estate, and tells them
about the standing stones and the fey circle. The next excursion
we will be taking is to Lancton, to the Bard’s College.
