With Consolidation of Power and the Dragon Battle, several
stories will end, But many will come back and continue in some
fashion and Karnea will return in Story Three, even as we chart
Story One.
It has been my great joy to bring these characters to life again
and it has been a labor of love.
I'm just getting started at telling stories.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX Story Arcs
DIR By: Dungeon Master

---------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anything is getting posted tonight. I have slowly
realized that a lot of games are crescendoing all, at the same
time. It's disconcerting, everywhere I look. Let me enumerate.
Karnea and her first apprentice in the City of Lost Names
Wydara and Las going to hunt the Ackalite in Northern Ergoth
Talidaar, Lord Rage, and Dalamar facing down the Red Dragon
Alpha in Sierra Khur
And two Dragon Armies facing off against each other in Damara
Ambrodel and the Windriders over Northern Khur.
Thankfully only two of them are connected by time and distance
proximity of those fighting in Khur in 429 AC. Still, I need to
stop doing this to myself is the point I am trying to make.
Everything that was set in motion when the Game started has been
to bring everything to this point. The Return to the Dragon
Isles, the Chosen of Reorx really bore the weight of getting
everything in place for this.
In other news, we finally have the revelation of who entered the
Tower of Nightlund and took the Books, but now there is a rub.
That person is dead. Still, my player was thankfully fully
surprised and found out at the exact point chosen to allow it to
be revealed. I felt I needed to allow things to progress while
Karnea was in Northern Solamnia and allow things to work out
without Karnea being involved to show the characters they can
operate independently. Vaylin the Deviner is one. Cael the Black
Robe Caretaker was another, Hiram the White was another. Lucius
made it home to the Blood Sea Isle.
I was complaining to Adam because I sent him a Spell a while
back and I have sent him so much since then, and we can't find
it. I don't have it in my notes. I don't know what book I got it
from, I don't know where it is in my favorites, it is nowhere,
and the search engine is not returning me anything that
resembles what I found before. I thought I saved that or wrote
something down. but no. So I am still looking to find the speel
that allowed Valylin to view backward in time to see who took
the books.
But now the Wizards and Karnea have another problem. The person
who absconded with the books is dead in a Fire. They will look
and see how this happened. They will come to some answers, Raina
was dead before the fire was started. So one mystery is solved
but it leads to another mystery.
I meant to write more with Jenna, but a lot had already been
said on the subject.
If I thank of anything else I will add to this message.
I think that is everything. I am going to spend the weekend
writing and catching up and composing How the next chapter will
be written.
Take care everyone.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX Nothing coming out Tonight,
Look for later this week coming week.
DIR By: Dungeon Master
Date: July 21, 2024, 10:46 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Greetings,
Nothing is planned to go out tonight. I have an early morning,
so I am just going to write a bit and then crash for the night.
I have been writing on different things, getting each further
done before switching to something else. I wrote the next
Windrider-Dragonrider Chapters, not finished, but I am working
on them. Plotting everything out. I don't feel under enormous
pressure anymore. This is doable. I am taking an approach that
is like a symphony and I am less intimidated by attempting to do
this. I feel like this entire game has been about taking on
intimidating projects. The Gladiator games were my hardest
writing projects that I hope to get better at over time.
Karnea Story II Consolidation of Power is sitting at 999 views.
I am very proud of that Game Project. Not too bad for not gaming
together since 2012. The person who plays Karnea is the kind of
player that any DM would be overjoyed to have in their game. He
brings the special sauce, he adds his spice and the Story is
better for it. That is why that game is sitting at 999 Views.
I have been writing about the Karnea Finale for Story II. It's
coming along, trying to make sure it has enough juice for it to
close this game out.
I have written on lots of other game sessions recently. They are
just at exciting parts right now, and I am just trying to get
through this.
Things should start coming out towards the end of the week. I
will start getting these close enough to go up. Sorry to make
everyone wait. Everything is being worked on, Each story,
something big is happening, sometimes, several big things. So I
want to make sure I have everything down.
Thank you for coming to this Forum. Thank you for reading the
stories from the games that we have done on Discord.
We will see who lives and who dies.
Night.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX The Finale of Karnea Story II
DIR By: Dungeon Master
Date: July 24, 2024, 12:47 am
---------------------------------------------------------
My Friend Adam reports that he will be up for gaming the Finale
of Kanrea Story Two the Consolidation of Power. That means I am
throwing everything into getting ready for that and the stories
that were to come out this week will be pushed to next week. I
am deep into all of them but I have to put them to the side.
Maybe, if I have time will try to get something out.
So the Finale of Kanrea is coming this coming Sunday, I will try
to have it out in the next couple of days after that and have
everything else ready to go.
I have been focusing on the Town at the base of the Tower of
Blood Sea. I have been detailing the town with its occupants and
stores and it is coming to life. I hope everyone has been
enjoying the development of the Tower of Blood Sea and the Town
below. It has been a sheer joy to take on this task. It has
helped writing the stories and gaming, knowing what is on each
floor.
As for the Future of Karnea. There will be a Story Three, I have
been deep in planning that for months and adjusting things for
that story as I have guided this story to its end. I don't know
how this story is going to turn out. It might go better than
expected, but then again, Morgan is present and Karnea is
throwing heat on Morgan, thinking Morgan killed Sarus, you can
only push Morgan so far and I'm afraid Karnea will push her too
hard and die. Yes, Karnea will come back, but Karnea will be
coming back pissed off and I don't know if I can contain things
after that. I still think Aravis should have come with Karnea,
things would have come out like butter, But Karnea would not
hear of it. What Karnea does not know is Analis would never do
anything toward Avaris. Analis is not the villain. Analis was a
legitimate inheritor of the Role of leading Sorerers into the
new age. For nearly Forty years, they were the successor to the
Conclave High Sorcery. And then the War of Souls and the Gods
returned and the countdown started to this meeting. For Forty
years they were not hunted, All of a sudden they are being
hounded to join this other Magical Order. Some do, but others
are not so sure. They are hunted, and some of them are killed.
Personally, I bought Dragonlance 5th Age products and I can not
tell you how betrayed I felt for ditching 2e for SAGA.
Nevertheless, I still gamed Dragonlance and still used 2e to
game. I did not use or try the SAGA rules. Silly rabbit, I roll
dice.
I have said this before about the 5th Age, Love it or Hate it,
took us out of spinning our tires with the timeline after Tales
of the Lance Box Set and The Boxset of Lairs.
But a huge pain in my ass was dealing with Sorcery. Now I am
going to show my age here, but Sorcery to me is cheating. Nobody
just does what they want, there are rules, no rules, no game. So
dealing with stupid fixes like spell points and mana pools is my
least favorite addition to DL Lore, followed by Mysticism. Old
school Wizardry is my favorite magic, for me personally.
All of this is to say I understand where Analis is coming from.
Karnea needs to factor it into her thinking, but I don't know if
she will get it in time. I asked DCR way back when to come up
with a wizard. He comes back with Analis, a Wild Mage. I hated
this. I wanted Gandalf, anyone else. but got Analis, who went
right over and became an apprentice to Karnea. So, all of this
is my payback if I have to be honest and petty. Reap what you
sown and left untended and what has grown? Karnea is surrounded
by hundreds if not a thousand Sorcerers at the City of Lost
Names. It is a very charged situation. For those that don't know
DCR also played Talidaar also.
Perhaps as much as 60% of the sorcerers of Ansalon are here at
the City of Lost Names
I think Karnea is bound and determined to play Hardball, I hope
she is calm for one moment to read the room. all eyes are on
them.
Got a really good couple of hours in writing the finale. Lots of
thoughts and ideas were able to be strung together into
something that makes sense so far. I already have the ending
written. That was written months ago.
I just hate not being able to predict my player's actions. I
pride myself on predicting to probable points, given the
decisions ahead. But as from that Breakfast with Aravis, We saw
that this is personal for Karnea, which is my fault for having
Sarus and Karnea meet days before Karnea left to go the
conclave. It's all my fault. That is why it is so personal to
Karnea. I manipulated my player into taking it personally. It
has worked too perfectly. I told you guys I'm the reason Karnea
will not have a familiar. All these later, Kanrea still does
have a familiar.
Sometimes I need to stop while I am ahead. Writing them in this
situation and it being so humid makes the tension so thick in
the story.
--------------------------
Well, It is Sunday, and Adam and I gamed out the finale. It
turned out to be not a Huge Battle because of politics and
Karnea played her cards the right way and stayed out of the
fight. I am writing up what happened and will have it posted
later today. This week I will endeavor to get the other stories
out. The Dragon Battle in the Sky, the Dragon confrontation in
the Sierra Khur, and the hunting down of the Ackalite in
Northern Ergoth.
---------------------
This is taking a little longer to get out. I have not given up
for the night, but as much as I think I have gotten done, there
is so much more. This could have been a huge war, things were
going to get out of control, and the Gods of Magic were going to
get involved, but Karnea did not fall into the trap and did not
take part in putting down the rebellion at the City of Lost
Names, thereby allowing this Story to end peaceably. I gave my
player opportunities to make things worse, but I think my friend
could see the wisdom of hanging back. That was the right choice.
If he went the other direction we would still be rolling dice.
Karnea did not expect to be able to connect with her first
student, she found herself more sympathetic than she allowed
herself to feel before. Color me very surprised. I thought she
might take the bait and I was going to end the story with a War
of Magic, and you guys would have seen Karnea dealing death. and
laying waste. But it would have been the wrong move. the wrong
choice, I can't tell you how happy I am that my player avoided
these pitfalls and was magnanimous to Analis, and Morgan and has
given the sorcerers a chance for the future. Finishing this up.
It might be early morning by the time this comes out and I would
hate for this to be a two-parter.
-----------------
I am 95 % through the story. There was a lot of dialogue, a lot,
a lot-lot. I am checking what more I can do, but I might have to
put it down for the night and wake up and tackle it. I am
recording the next session for sound. Remembering all these
conversations is driving me a little mad. Trying to make all of
this make sense. No flash and fire. I honestly thought Karnea
would get involved and I am so proud of her for making the right
choice. I am sorry I am not done. I am sorry there is no flash
and fire, but hopefully, you enjoy this meeting with her first
apprentice.
---------------
I am going to crash for few hours and come back to the story.
There are three or four more things I need to write about and I
get it edited and put up today sometime. I underestimated how
much dialogue they had, I should not have been, but here we are.
Three or four more things. I will post it later today.
-------------------------------------
Finished. Posted. Done with the Finale. Chapter 2 will be fixed
soon and the Story II will be in the books. I hope everyone
enjoyed. We are not finished by a longshot.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX Afterglow
DIR By: Dungeon Master
Date: July 29, 2024, 10:56 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
As I have been updating the last post, Karnea Story II Chapter
Twenty is in the books, it is posted and I am in my afterglow
phase. The one where I feel like I have birthed a kid. Over ten
pages of Dialogue. Turns out Analis was a realist. She wanted to
resist but only saw War being the future and she chose a
different path. I have stated I dislike Sorcerers and Wild
Mages, I do so much. But I came to identify with Analis while
writing her. I can not believe Karnea chose the peaceful route.
I did warn my player at the top that things could get out of
control if she did not play this right, but I did not think She
would sympathize with Analis. I decided at the last minute that
the trouble would not come from Analis and Morgan but from some
of her followers. I did not expect things to go so well. I found
Karnea really trying to work this out without bloodshed. and I
am astonished. Everything going into the gaming session all
seemed like she was going in for blood.
I had really thought this was going to end with war between the
Conclave and the Sorcerers. But Adam did the exact thing to keep
Karnea out of the fight. It was so the right move. I was really
going to make him pay if he went down there., I planned for him
to go down there, it was going to be bad. But his move was so
the right one. I cannot fault him at all. Karnea went places in
the roleplaying, I just never expected it. She empathized with
the people who were left behind. It's something she has never
done before now.
There were ten pages of dialogue in this last story. holy crap.
That took a lot out of me. I wrote last night until there were
three or four things left, I wrote as much detail as I could and
I went in and passed out and did not want to get up.
Also, I will comment on Yap Sizzlegizzard. My timing is all off.
Consolidation of Power should be taking place in 424, I don't
know if I am going to change it. I am also adding Yap to the
tower before his appearance in the Age of Mortals Campaign.
Things will work out. Why Yap, Well, his picture of him sitting
on the books spoke to me and I wondered how Karnea would react.
I completely wanted to blow Adam's mind. At first, he thought it
was a large rat thing. He never heard about Yap before and I got
the huge-ass surprise I wanted to close things out. I wondered
how Yap would fit in and if he can keep from causing trouble. I
think it's the best place for him. My player told me he did not
know Kobolds existed on Krynn and finally told me "At least he
isn't a kender."
Which I thought was fair.
I am working on Chapter Two and that will finish Consolidation
of Power.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX New Tales of Karnea and looking
for two new Knights of Solamnia
DIR By: Dungeon Master
Date: August 2, 2024, 1:16 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Greetings all. I hope everyone's summer was a good one. I
sometimes can't run my computer during the day because it has
been so hot and only typed at night for a while.
As you can see, I have added a new Topic called Tales of Karnea.
The player of Karnea messaged me he was writing some vignettes
about Karnea that took place in the past, before the date we are
gaming now. I told him I would love that. He just did not know
where to post them, so I decided we would do it this way. It is
not going to be linear, it will jump around the timeline. The
date will be documented to let us know on the timeline when it
is taking place. Maybe in the future sometime we will put it in
quasi-order, but for now, this will give him the space to place
things whenever the story hits him. We are in for a treat. Back
when we gamed by forum only, I would time what happened, and I
would get a response back a few days later and it would be the
most awesome, beautiful, amazing response of what Karnea would
do.
We did that for a couple of years. I guess that is why the forum
is still such an important component of our game. This has taken
a huge amount of effort on my part, having put it all on myself
to practically do everything, thankfully Adam is the most
helpful and has really gone above and beyond for me.
This has been the most insane Dungeons and Dragons game to date.
I am getting through it. Some players show up, some disappear,
Most live far away and we don't get to interact very much.
I hope this game has been enjoyable. I know it has been deeply
frustrating, not GRRM frustrating, but it has taken care to
figure out how to control of this without losing control and
letting things fall apart and fly off in several directions. I
have tried to tell a couple of narratives that are coming to a
head while setting up seeds to deal with in the future, and
maybe not even the immediate future, some things are going to
hang around and have to be dealt with at a later point. Though I
have planned things out further, I am still interested to see
how the story develops as I adjust things as the players and
characters weave their way through the stories.
The storytelling aspect is one of the appealing things about
Dragonlance that made me fall in love with it. It has always
been my favorite setting, I guess that is what keeps me around.
So I have Wydara started
Lord Rage is about done
I am halfway through The Dragon Battle over Khur
And have done very little on the Hierophant.
I am working on writing from my game notes for those stories and
hope to be done with everything by the end of the weekend. We
will see, that is not a promise. I have needed a couple of days
to recover from writing out the Finale.
Thank you for coming and reading the stories from my recent
games. Thank you to all of you who read everything, even the
obscure ones, even reading these Behind the DM Screens.
I do need players. people who will meet me on Discord at least
once a month, every two weeks, every three weeks, every two
months, whatever. Still figuring out what I am going to do with
this Knight story I want to tell in the time of the Half-Giant
War for a little bit before we do a time jump. Two main Knights
of Solamnia. Sir Kellen is a Knight of the Crown. the Other is a
Knight of the Sword, a devout Sword of Kiri-Jolith, he is older,
tempered, just a couple of years older than Kellen. He is a
little more wise than Kellen.
It has been a while since I have found anyone willing to play
Knights of Solamnia. I know it is challenging, but times have
changed, and it is not as dogged, not to say it does not stand
for everything it did, it is just the measure has been revised.
Women can join the ranks, the auxiliary forces of the group
called the kingfishers that have become acceptable to the
knighthood for their abilities. we live in very strange times.
The story will weave a bit through the Rise of Solamnia and the
changes it brings to Solamnia. I have been laying the groundwork
in the Coryn story for what will unfold across Solamia. We are
just going to touch on some important moments for the characters
and then we are going to be on the frontier of what is to come
with Solamnia as an Empire. What does that even mean to the
Knighthood going forward and what the relations with Sancrist
are going forward? The most important question is are they ready
for the minotaur invasion that is coming?
Both will have squires, the older one has a loyal war dog.
Joining is free, the game is free.
Going to get back to writing.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX :New Endings for Knight of the
Black Rose, and Karnea Story II and justice for Yap
DIR By: Dungeon Master
Date: August 4, 2024, 3:00 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I am Having a little trouble getting into the writing mood so
far these last two days, done some, but the closest to being
done was Lord Rage. Lord Rage has a new ending to his most
recent chapter.
The other thing is I bought More Leaves from the Last Home, the
3.5 version. In it, I came across the writings of Master Yap,
the Black Robe Kobold and it has caused me to go back and
rewrite the ending of the Karnea Finale, with a different
conversation going on between Dalamar, Master Karner, and Yap.
Yap is very intelligent and I underestimated him, I pictured him
as the Age of Mortals Campaign as a chaos agent. So because I
underestimated him, I led my player to believe he was not fit to
be left alone. My mistake. Yap will be an interesting figure in
the stories to come that are taking place at the Blood Sea
Tower.
I am reading over some sourcebooks and getting some information
to finish the stories. The next story will be Talidaar Open War
Story III, the continuation of the Knight of the Black Rose, or
getting closer with the Wydara story.
Anyways, Night, and I will see what I can get done tomorrow.
Take care.

Behind the DM's Screen Vol. IX War Wizard
DIR By: Dungeon Master

I did not report the happy news yesterday. At GenCon, it was
announced that Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman are coming back
with a new Trilogy called the Legacies Trilogy, the first book
is called War Wizard about Huma's friend Magius and will fall
under the banner of Classic Dragonlance.
I am very happy, but will admit to a certain amount of
trepidation. In all of these years, Marget Weis and Tracy
Hickman have not read the Legend of Huma or Kaz The Minotaur.
Nuff said.
So it's a mixed bag.
