vol. I
Story One: The Dragon War in the East
Chapter One: Goodbyes
Lashia was created by James S. 1993
The Family Name Ambrodel was created by Paul Thompson and Tony
C. Cook
Western Ansalon
Northern Ergoth
Gwynned, The Imperial Capital City of Ergoth
The Qualinesti Elf Lashia Ambrodel was a very rebellious girl
growing up. She rode the rails of the track the whole way into
adulthood. Growing up in the shadow of her older, perfect
sister, Damara, was never easy. After her Test of High Sorcery,
she took the red Robe and caused a firestorm of trouble back
home. Her family’s name is the only thing that saved her from
being cast out of the light.
It would be later in life that she would change to the White
robe, healing a family rift, but also allowing her to protect
her friend’s family after her Death.
Now seeing her firstborn girl’s cuts, scrapes, and bruises, and
her black eye that is fading, she thinks back to Daera's first
days of life and how her little hand would wrap around Lashia's
fingers.
- “So then, we are the Palace, walking through the Court, I
could feel every eye on me and all I could was pray I didn’t
trip over my own feet.”
Lashia smiles as she listens, how much she missed Daera’s voice.
She brushes a strand of hair from her daughter’s face as she
keeps talking.
-“And that’s when Princess Mercidith invited us to the Winter
Ball. I have to get a dress made or something, I don’t exactly
know, the Princess said she will send somebody to get me fitted
or something like that.”
Lashia smiles. She is not missing her daughter in an elegant
dress. Talidaar will just have to deal with it. “Well, I hope I
get a chance to see you in it. I will try to come for another
visit, is that okay with you?”
“It's okay with me.” She hears something strange in her mom’s
voice, but she doesn’t know what it is. And some of the ways she
is using words to leave open the chance that she won’t make it
back. “Is everything okay Mom? Are you alright?”
Lashia says things are fine. She calls Sator over, “I want to be
straight with both of you right now. It’s just that I am heading
in to a potential Warzone with Dragons against Dragons and
anytime that mix is involved, it has the chance to become very
volatile and there no assurances everything is going to be okay.
I just want you to always remember I will always love you and I
have always loved you. If I’m not there to see you in our dress,
I still want you to have a good time. I am so proud of both of
you. You have grown up straight and true. I missed you two very
much and now I am looking at you both, you are so handsome, and
you, so pretty. Gods I hate to leave, but I need to go and help
my people. I hope you will come to understand, even if you don’t
just now.”
Lashia stands up, thinking of Valthonis waiting and Longshot
getting bored, and she starts to worry. “Give your mom a hug
and tell me you’ll miss me. She hears them say I will miss you
when she hugs them both deeply with a mother’s love. Lashia
then looked over to Wydara. “Take care of them for me, please,
Wydara.”
Wydara tells Lashia she will, “they are both great kids, that is
on you and Talidaar.”
Lashia comes over and hugs her sister-in-law. I would not say
they were ever close, but they are closer now that she has spent
quality time with her niece and nephew. Wydara hugs her back,
feeling affection for the concept of family.
Lashia gets the girls, Las, and Marilee up, and the Twins hug
their siblings. Marilee tells Daera,” You were very impressive
earlier little sister, keep it up.”
Lashia gives her kids a kiss and waves as she steps away, and
tears stream down her face. She walks until they catch a
carriage, and the girls get in and head back to Las’s house.
See 429 AC Wydara Blood and the Arena Chapter Twelve: Aftermath
for more Wydara and Daera. Warning, Mature, Gladiators. Wydara
is Talidaar's older sister, and Daera is Talidaar's youngest
daughter. Lashia's firstborn.

Story One
Chapter Two: The Chosen of Reorx
Goodbyes made to her family and Lashia is on board the Navigator
once more. Marilee and Shimmer, Valthonis, and Longshot are with
her on board the spelljamming capable Gallon.
The Navigator leaves Emperor’s Bay and soon is aloft, flying
over Southern Ergoth, deciding to land near Castle Eastwatch.
They are met by the Knighthood and are taken to the Stone Dragon
Monument of the Silver Dragon.
Southwest Ansalon
Southern Ergoth
Foghaven Vale
They journey inside the secret pass inside and climb stairs
until they enter the Heart Chamber.
A reddish glow emanates from the Forge. Hard at work is a
dark-haired dwarf. She can’t tell if her eyes are playing tricks
on her, but it appears that the gleam off his arm is reflective.
The dwarves see a pretty elf wearing white Robes. A Wizard?
Accompanied by Knights, a Tall Elf, and a Kender?
Torin gets up and introduces himself as Torin Stonebeard.
Lashia introduces herself, Valthonis, and Longshot.
Torin smiles kindly and asks why the kender is here.
The Rest of the Dwarves notice the Kender as well…
Lashia says, “he’s my friend, and he is here to help.”
All Longshot wants to do is explore; he has never been here
before, and he can’t believe he is inside the Stone Dragon
Monument
Lashia didn’t know what she was expecting, but it wasn’t this.
She says, “I am glad you are here; we didn’t know what we would
find when we got here.” Her eyes look over the Dragonlances that
have been forged.
Torin asks her, “So you know what’s going on and why we were
asked to do this?”
That’s a big question, Lashia thinks, “I know part of what’s
going on. Dragons are threating the Elven Refuge in Northern
Khur, I heard numbers like Sixty Chromatic Dragons sighted in
the region. I also heard there was an Army of Knights of Neraka
that was planning to move on the Refuge. I have been to the
Dragon Isles to seek the help of the Good Dragons. We are going
to fly to try to defend the last bastion of the Elves.”
“As for why you were asked, I asked Reorx to start getting
things in motion.” Valthonis answers with a smile and a wink.
Torin asks “And who in the name of Reorx are you?”
“A concerned observer, a wanderer. Reorx and I are friends from
and go a way back, well, before your time.” The Tall Elf answers
Torin wonders if the elf is touched in the head, or perhaps a
fallen angel, whoever he is he talks as if he knows way more
than he is saying.
Torin groans “Elves huh, did you hear that boys we made this
trek to save the Elves… I need a drink.”
“But it’s still early.” Longshot puts forth.
Torin just grumbles
Longshot holds out sweet muffins he pocketed from the breakfast
table at Castle Eastwatch and offers them to Torin.
He smells the delicious bread as he grumbles and decides he
can’t take it. He comes back, takes the bread, and grumbles off.
Lashia meets some of the Dragons that were at the Dragon Isles
and have made the journey here.
They talk to the dwarves about the Dragon Saddles. That is the
thing they have the least of. Dragon saddles. The Dragons will
be scavenging them across Sancrist and Solamnia.
The Majority of the Lances that are complete now are mounted,
with a good amount of footman lances.
The Dragonlances are loaded up and shipped on wagons to the
Navigator, along with Six Saddles.
Gilthanas hears Lashia talking and he approaches her, with
Silvera’s hand in his.
She is surprised to see him, she knows very little about his
history, his trials and tribulations. Gilthanas gives her a
hug. They go way back. As an Ambrodel, the family was as close
to royalty as it could get. She was a wildcat he remembers her
as feisty and ferocious at times.
Gilthanas introduces Silvera as his mate. HE asks about the
Elven people and Lashia tells him she heard it might get bad.
Damara is headed there with Dragons now. He suggests that sit
with the Dwarves for a while and appreciate what they have done.
They are good people who have sacrificed to come here without
knowing why.
So, Lashia spends some time with the dwarves and listens to the
sacrifices that were made for them to get to the Monument.
Lashia learns about Jennnar Blackstone and Grail Longtooth both
of the Neidar Clan. She listens to the heroic deed of Barek
Stormhammer.
She invites Torin and whoever else wants to come and see what is
happening and we can see if it was all worth it.
Torin takes her up on her offer, as does Ragrim Shattershield.
Slade will stay here with Bale and Vorimir Stoneaxe.
The Dwarves say their goodbyes and Lashia assures them She will
bring them back soon.
She privately thanks Bale for all that he has done. The Elves
will always be in his debt for his assistance.
Bale notices as the Elf walks away that for the first time, he
feels whole.

---------------------------------------------------------
Lashia
Story One
Chapter Three: Full Circle
The Dragonlances are loaded along with the saddles, and
volunteers among the Knights of Solamnia number Six Knights that
were stationed at Castle Eastwatch.
The Dwarves make their goodbyes. Over the months of travel,
shared dangers, and sorrow that has formed the path together.
Bale thanks Torin for finding him, and pulling back from the
brink of despair. They shake hands as dear friends and hug as
brothers. It is the same with Ragrim Shattershield. After the
loss of his good friend Barek Stormhammer, the other Dwarves
were brothers through the pain. He carries the Stormhammer War
Hammer, he seeks what Torin is also looking for, to see if all
of this was worth their lives and time.
With Goodbyes made, to the Silver Dragon Chase, Torin thanks him
for his guidance and, and his help. He asks Chase to watch over
Bale and others.
A solemn conversation was had between Silvera and Gilthanas and
they both agreed to join Lashia and the Dwarves on the
Spelljammer ship to Inath Wakenti.
The Navigator leaves Southern Ergoth and lifts from the Southern
Sirrion Sea and goes into the sky.
Everybody was told what to expect and yet, surprise is brought
to everyone’s faces. The Dwarves almost hold onto each other out
of fright. Never has anything like this ever happened to them,
not even remotely. It’s the damned thing they have ever thought
about doing, beyond getting on a boat to begin with.
Silvera and Gilthanas are filled with wonder at such a magical
contraption. They discuss the good and the bad that could arise
from such contraptions. One could imagine a fleet of these
filling the sky and descending upon an unsuspecting City and
conquering Ansalon. They speculate on Flying Citadels and the
Magic used to keep those aloft.
Once they fly over Abanasinia and Schallsea Isle, The Navigator
descends onto the New Sea, and Lashia takes a break. It is not
good to overtax the Wizard flying the Ship. So, she takes a
three-hour rest, but before she turns in, she relates the tale
before the Summer of Flame of her, Talidaar, Damara, and Analis
going to the Minotaur Ises because we heard that the Minotaur
Emperor had discovered Spelljammer technology, so we went and
Destroyed the Fleet and his own personal ship, and thus they
lost the ability to reproduce the methods because we eliminated
His Wizards directly tied to the project and erased the idea
from the emperor’s mind.
(True story)
With that, Lashia lays down for a couple of hours.
She awakes and the Navigator lifts off once and again and Lashia
activates the Invisibility Charm and Flies high until lowers
down and sees the bodies of the Chromatic Dragons She knows
things are going to get worse before they get better. She lands
inside the Valley, Lashia activates the struts that stretch out
of the hull and gracefully supports the sea-going vessel on the
ground a Hoist lifts the crates of Lances and weapons.
They also made a few Dragonmetal Swords, and Footman’s
Dragonlances, and mounted.
Two elves run to her, one slower than the other. Damra hugs her
sister and tells her she is glad she is finally here.

She lets go as Talidaar puts his arms around his wife and holds
her to him. They have an affectionate kiss and end with looking
at each other. Lashia left with her sister to go to the Dragon
Isles while Talidaar was in debt with the Black Brood. Lashia
tells him she saw Las, Kira, Daera, Sator…and Wydara. “Our
Daughter is working with training swords and is becoming good at
Wydara’s school and she has a black eye.”
Talidaar smiles, wondering how Daera is surviving under the
watchful eye of his sister.
“Its not funny, and I am going back to Ergoth after this
emergency is over, she is going to see Daera in her dress.”
“I thought so, we can talk about, introduce me to your friends.”
“Don’t change the subject, there not much to talk about on the
matter and this is Torin Stonebeard, Follower of Reorx and
Ragrim Shattershield, they were part of a Dwarven Company that
claimed the Silver Arm of Ergoth and made these Dragonlances.”
Lashia then introduces her Husband to the Dwarves “This is
Talidaar, my husband, He is the Hieropant of Chislev I told you
about Torin.”
“Well, a Follower of Chislev, glad to meet you. Glad Tidings”
The Robed Dwarf says.
They get everyone with the lances underground into the tunnels.
All of the Elf race is down here in the tunnels. The Dwarves are
startled to see the huddled elf children. They saw the
devastation above. It was beautiful, but the Tower was toppled
and destruction to homes.
Everyone is brought before the Court of Gilthas Kanan

Lashia held it together for most of the Speaker's speech but
fell apart by the end and gripped her husband’s hand at her side
and rested her head on his shoulder momentarily to collect
herself.
“Thank you, Great Speaker, it was my Honor and privilege to be
of service. Though my sister and I did accomplish these tasks,
we could not have done without My husband’s daughter Marilee and
his other daughter Las’s husband Mikal, they are the only ones
that had been to the Dragon Isles that I know of, they got us
there in one peace and back. And one last thing, if it wasn’t
for Lord Valthonis, I don’t know if the Council of Golds would
have listened to our pleas of assistance. I can’t say for sure.”
“Even so, you and your sister made it happen and we thank you.”
The Speaker says, knowing that Lashia just wants to get out of
the center of attention. He excuses her with the understanding
her work is not complete. She needs to get everyone together
outside Solanthus.
Lashia nods and walks with Talidaar out of the Royal underground
court.
Lashia sees Marilee and passes Longshot off to her while she
steals Talidaar away for five minutes to herself.
She kisses Talidaar and falls into his arms.
“I have missed you like crazy.” Lashia says up to him.
Talidaar tells her “You were almost widowed the other day. The
Titans almost killed me with a tree, the irony of it all hurts
in places that haven’t hurt in an Age.”
This shocks her, “A Tree?”
“Look, don’t rub it in okay, there was a Sandstorm, and the next
thing I knew I was smashed under a giant tree, I healed and I
still feel it. That’s going to be with me for a while. It
smashed my face.
She gets up on her tippy toes and kisses his face. She looks at
him. That tear always comes when she looks at him like that with
concern, she won’t see him again. He understands it's just love.

“When did Dalamar get here,” Lashia asks.
“Has it been five minutes already? I see you are avoiding the
subject before we even talk about.”
“What is there to talk about, my first-born girl is going to
Royal Winter Ball in a Ball gown, and you think I am going to
miss that?”
Talidaar just says “I knew as soon as Daera told me at the
Palace, I knew you would want to be there, and I knew right then
there I was going to lose my wife for the Winter, so when you
have been saying there’s nothing to talk about, I just wanted
you to know I already knew there was nothing, I was going to be
able to say to change your mind”
“Well, that is good. Good. Look at you” Lashia says, toying with
him.
“Stop.” Talidaar says. “If you knew how much pain I am in, would
you still be needling me so.” He says this to try to get more
sympathy.
“Oh buddy.” Lashia laughs.
Talidaar just shakes his head and holds her back in his arms.
A few minutes later, Lashia Teleports away on a mission for
Speaker Gilthas

---------------------------------------------------------
Lashia Wizardess Windrider
Story One
Chapter Five: Communication
Mid-Ansalon
Solamnia
Solanthus
Lashia reappears Outside of the City of Solanthus’s south gate.
Dragons are circling in the air and there are several outside
the city, conferring with Knights. The city looks
battle-damaged from a recent battle fought here with the
Half-Giant.
She walks to the Dragons and Knights to talk about coordination.
The discussion moves inside the city Knight of Solamnia
headquarters.
The discussion moves to include logistics, the most important
thing at this point is the dragon saddles with the appropriate
mounting saddles that can be fitted with the mounted
Dragonlance.
The craftsmen of Solamnia are called together to pitch in to
produce saddles with the mounting. Plans are drawn up, they must
be made immediately.
They have Thirteen in Storage. The call is put out along with a
copy of the plans to the Realm. Dargon Mount saddles must be
produced immediately.
Lashia speaks to the knights and the Dragons about the
situation. “The attacks have just stopped. But the longer we
wait, the more time they have to come up with a deceptive plan
and attack again, maybe to occupy. We have to deter that.”
Knights begin arriving around across Solamnia, hoping to get the
opportunity to Ride a dragon into Battle.
Lashia teleports back to Inath-Wakenti to report to the Speaker
and the Generals. Soon she is walking through the tunnels, past
groups of elves into the make-sift crafting chamber where Torin
Stonebears and Ragrim Shattershield help with the Elves with the

Lashia Wizardess Windrider
Story One
Chapter Six: The Last to Know
Central Ansalon
Province of Nightlund
The Cyprus Grove
Lashia takes the Emperor to the Tower of Nightlund and Lashia
makes sure that Coryn is here. A White Robe informs Lashia, and
the Emperor that Mistress Coryn is recovering from her
experience at High Clerist Tower, she is not seeing visitors
today. This catches Lashia off guard, but the emperor seems to
have expected this.
The emperor tells Lashia that Mistress Coryn fought a Powerful
Gray Robe during the Battle at the High Clerist Tower and did
not escape the fray completely unscathed; she has been holed up
here ever since then.
“The Master of the White Robe is hurt?” Lashia asks. This is
news to her.
“Traumatized is more like it, apparently it was a harrowing
fight, across the planes of existence.” The emperor replies. “I
just didn’t know she was still closing herself off like this.
The emperor tells the White Robe he will need a Wizard’s aid for
the coming week, preferably one with the power to Teleport, for
I need to move around my country quickly to see to different
needs are met. Can you provide that?”
The White Robe answers, “I can provide that service; the Master
of the White Robe has informed us to help you in whatever way we
can assist you.”
The emperor looks to Lashia and tells her He will be okay, he
releases her back to her duty to the Elves. They nod to each
other, and Lashia exits the Tower of Nighlund and teleports back
to Inath-Wakenti.
Within five minutes of being in the valley, Lashia hears what
Talidaar is thinking of doing.
"Talidaar'quithusaran Arbagon!!!"
Talidaar hears it in the middle of his prayers the rest of the
Valley hears it as well, bringing Longshot into the area, trying
to get a good view.
Lasihia storms over to where their house was located when they
lived in the Valley. Sure enough, Talidaar is on his knees,
praying to Chislev.
Lashia waits patiently, even going on a short walk until she
sees Talidaar standing up, and he readies himself to step once
more into the breach.
He does not mean to upset his wife; he did not mean for her to
find out from someone else. But that bell had already been rung.
Talidaar tries to take control of the narrative, “Lashia…I.”
Lashia does not let him. “How in the abyss can you take anything
that Monster says as real? After what he did? What he tried to
do.” She is furious, not exactly at Tal, nothing raises her ire
like Lord Rage. The mere mention of him is enough to set her off
on a tirade.
And Talidaar is in complete agreement with her. Of all the
twists and turns of life, ever defending that Death Knight is
just unthinkable. He can’t believe he is entertaining the idea
at all, damn him.
Talidaar knows this is not good. “Lashia, I... I can’t believe
this either, I should have known he would come back one day,
well, that day is now. He’s… different somehow, but also the
same as ever. It might be a way to stop people from getting
killed in a bloody Dragon War.”
“I can’t believe what I am hearing. Talidaar and Rage, walk out
into the desert and stop the war before it starts. Him, I can
believe he is doing this. But you, you going along with it, now
that, that is unexpected. Lashia says acidly.
“Dalamar says there is a spell that may help us, he has gone to
get it, I am waiting on him now., and before you go off again,
let me explain that this all happened earlier today, It was
unexpected, I have thought about it, I was going to talk to you
about it” Talidaar answers defensibly.
“He came here with catnip Talidaar, and you are now doing
exactly what he wants.” Lashia observes.
“I will say this again, I am trying to stop this War before it
starts, can we focus on that?” Talidaar tries to regain some
high ground in the matter.

Lashia is quiet for long moments. “Where am I supposed to be
while this going on?”
“Getting ready for the war in case it doesn’t work.” Talidaar
answers.
Talidaar walks towards his wife, she has her back turned from
him, he walks to the other side she is facing and catches her
eyes.
They embrace and just hold on to each other for what little time
they have together.
Longshot, from his distant spot, claps and roots for them, then
gets bored and wanders off.

Story One
Chapter Seven: Near-Death Experience
Talidaar and the group have long gone. Lashia stayed with
Longshot because she needed some time, and she needed to keep an
eye on the Kender, lest he get away and into trouble, but mostly
to stop him from following Talidaar on his quest south with the
Death Knight and the Wizards.
They start back to see the Speaker when distant, quiet words are
amplified by the Tympanum (Drum) resoundingly across the valley-
“Great Speaker, the Blue Robe, Dragon!”
Longshot points out that it sounds like the half-elf that was a
Knight of Neraka that Talidaar was interrogating. “… and why
blue robe? Shouldn’t it be red or white or black robes? Oh,
maybe they are priest…. Dragon, hey, do you think?
Lashia grabs his hand, and they teleport to the speaker’s house,
the baby is still in the caves below, she goes to look for the
speaker and Longshot tells her to look. She sees the Speaker
can’t move. She calls out for the military “to take out the Blue
Robe.” She lets go of Longshot and teleports to the Speaker. She
can see the Blue robe getting closer.
Terrex the Blue saw his target unable to move. He sees a White
Robe appear behind the Speaker, and in a flash, they are gone.
Fury comes to Terrex’s mind; he screams to the heavens and
resolves he will destroy all the elves. So, he is surprised when
the first arrow lands, then the dozens follow as he starts to
shimmer, and the transformation process starts to take effect.
An elven warrior drives a footman’s Dragonlance through the
transforming dragon as arrows hit his Terrex’s head.
The elves back away as the Good Dragons finish him off.

Mid-Central East Ansalon

Valley of the Blue Sands
Inath Wakenti
This has been one day of hell, of ups and downs and ups and
downs and I need a bath. I need a month of doing nothing, oh to
be retired, Lashia observes. She looks at the carcass of the
Blue Dragon and wonders if Karnea will take a trade. On that
thought, she remembers Longshot and how she lost him in her mad
drive to save the speaker. She goes to where they were and he is
nowhere to be seen. She walks to the Tympanum and calls out to
him. And gets nothing. She looks to the Northwest, toward the
gates. She calls for her griffon and takes to the air to search
for him.
Where could he be? The Tunnels, someplace he shouldn’t be? On
his way to follow Talidaar and the Death Knight? She searches
high and low and then the Sovost, her Griffon sees him. He is
indeed way south of the Inath Wakenti.
She lands near him to startle him and slides off her mount and
goes to the Kender. “Longshot, what are you doing? you know
Talidaar said that Rage would kill you if you showed up.”
Longshot explains “I just wanted to help, I haven’t seen
Talidaar in like a...hundred years- “
“Not that long Longshot, thirty years maybe, ...something like
that.” Lashia corrects him, but she is not exactly sure of the
exact date.
“Lord Rage doesn't mean it, we’re practically friends- “
Lashia has tried to be patient, she has to set him straight in a
visual fashion. “He would split you down the middle and you
would fall apart in two, your things in your bags would go
everywhere, not to mention your insides would be everywhere too.
It would be a disgusting tragic mess that you are trying to
force me to see.”
Longshot tries to follow what she is saying, it sounds really
bad… Not coming up with an argument after that. For the first
time, he is quiet.”
Lashia asks him if he will come with her and "get Blue Dragon
scales and we then we going to visit Karnea.
Longshot almost falls over. “Visit Karnea, for really reals?
I’d love to see Karnea, You'd do that for me? I’m sure she
would love to see me. Yes, very much I will go with you. When
are we going?”
Longshot beats Lashia to the Griffon they climb on, and Sovost
takes flight. Lashia looked over the area again before flying
north, back to Inath Wakenti. Specialists are starting to cut
pieces of the dragon and its dragon scales. They will collect
them all before getting rid of the Dragon. Lashia procured
several Blue Dragon scales and rejoined Longshot, and they
teleported to the Island of Blood Sea. They walk into the small
town and see the Tower in the Darkness over the grove of olive
trees. They walk to the South Gate and wait.

Chapter Nine: One Piece
Karnea was created by AE
Eastern Ansalon
Blood Sea Tower Isle
A lantern appears in the distance in the grove, and the figure
bearing it comes closer in the night wearing a Black Robe.
They are hooded, an impediment that Longshot is instantly
interested in who is under the hood and are they ugly, is that
why they are wearing the hood like that? Or is it to be
ominous-ous?
The two wizards stand on either side of the gate, Longshot does
not understand what they are saying. The Wizards are speaking in
Magius.
“Why have you brought this one to my Island, now he knows where
I live. This has not helped you in what ever matter you have
brought today.” The Hooded figure tells Lashia.
“I was saving him from a Death Knight, the fact he is with me
should tell you the direness of the situation.”
Karnea considers what the White Robe is saying. “Step back from
the gate, I will hear you out, but we will do it in the Inn, I
will not have him of all people in my Tower of High Sorcery”

Lashia concedes to the Master of the Black Robe’s wishes and
stands back, and taking the kender with her
Longshot asks if they can speak basic sometime soon, he’s sick
of picking up on every fourth word.
At the Inn of the Three Moons
Karnea lowers her hood, much to Longshot’s excitement and she
slides into the booth, sitting opposite the White Robe and the
Kender.
At issue, there is a group of Wizards of High Sorcery, led by
Dalamar that are planning to cast an ancient spell that has been
unearthed at the Library of Wayreth called Bind Dragon. Lashia
hands over a copy of the spell, spell description, and spell
component description. This is of great value. Karnea looks to
Lashia, “what do you want?”
Lashia begins “My husband told me you killed a Red a time ago.
He also said that you took its scales and other exploitable
resources from its carcass.”
“Both of those are indeed correct.” Karnea answers.
Lashia continues, “We just killed a Blue that tried to kill our
Speaker in our valley. I propose we trade our Blue scales for
Red scales for only a time. You can keep the Blue scales; The
spell does not consume the dragon components necessary for the
spell to work. We can bring the Red scales back to you when the
spell has been completed, and I have two bags of Steel here.
This is to ensure the spell works.” Lashia explains the Death
Knight Lord Rage came back to Krynn and has enlisted her husband
into a crazy plan to take the Red Dragon Leader of the Dragon
Army out of the equation, I can appreciate what they are doing,
but my husband is too dumb to say no. So please, is that a deal
you can live with?
Karnea takes all of this in, She can see that she is getting the
better end of the deal, Lashia looks like she has had quite the
day already, and she is clearly doing all of this for Talidaar.
Karnea accepts the terms with a handshake, saying “Let it be
said that Karnea still honors the security arrangement formed by
the Trio those many years ago.
Lashia thanks Karnea. It might be another one of those times
that they completely understand one another. Lashia begins to
get up and misses the kender sliding through her hands.
Longshot waited long enough, he let them talk and now he had
some stuff to say-
“Hello Karnea, I’m so pleased to see you. You would not believe
the questions I am getting asked by Talidaar. He is dogging me
with questions, like why am I so young looking? I want to say,
why do you look so old now, what did you do? Do you think that
would work because he has been on me like it’s my fault, and I
didn’t do anything”
Karnea fears for her sanity because she understands all of that,
much more than she lets on in front of Lashia, who has taken a
keen interest in what seems on its face like a throwaway
conversation, but Karnea understands completely. It’s a relief
for once to have this shared secret that has so clearly marked
them as different and even feared for their decision long ago.
Karnea does not hate this kender, in fact, she is quite fond of
this one, even if he is a walking terror. He has gotten onto
every last nerve of hers and survived. Longshot is the monster
she makes him out to be, no he isn’t, yes, he is-It is a
traumatic open question
Karnea suggests to the kender to just “Maintain it was luck and
let that be the end of it. Tell Talidaar if he has anything else
that he wants to ask or wants to know more he can come can see
me here at my Tower at his leisure and leave it at that and say
nothing more on the subject.” Karnea declares with ice.

With relief flooding to him, Longshot begins to walk over and
give Karnea a hug when he is zapped with a Shocking grasp spell
and made prone and crumples to the ground at Karnea’s feet.
Karnea looks over her feet at the kender and tells him "That is
a reminder to never touch me -ever.”
Still, the Kender gets to Karnea, even though she had so
hardened herself over the years. Seeing him sitting there, and
now laying there on the ground just as the day she first met him
and the insane adventure through the planes we had. No matter
how she might try to forget, this terror is always a memory
away. Karnea is very glad Lashia is taking this kender away and
not bringing him back. She helps the Kender up and tells the
White Robe and Longshot goodbye. Karnea departs and the Red
Scales are brought to Lashia in front of the Inn by ox cart.
Mid-Central Ansalon
Sierra-Khur Mountain
Soon, while Talidaar, Lord Rage, and Dalamar are discussing
Dragon Eggs and their impending destruction, Lashia arrives and
points out to the Death Knight, “We are only there for a moment
to help with the scales for Dalamar, so keep back Rage.”
Talidaar keeps Longshot from the Death Knight, and thanks his
wife for the red scales, but tells her we must speak in private,
"Come with me." Talidaar intones, then takes hold of the Kender
and says, "You too Longshot.
They travel a short distance away and Talidaar tells Lashia He
is going to need her again once she takes Longshot back to
Inath-Wakenti. "Drop him off and come back. I need your help. We
have to get the Dragon's eggs, I think that is the key."
Lashia looks at Talidaar with a puzzled look, but after a
moment, a dawning comes to her and she grabs his face and kisses
his bearded face and takes hold of Longshot from Talidaar, and
disappears while Talidaar returns to the others.
Mission accomplished, The kender is in one piece.

Vol 1 finale of Story One: The Dragon War in the East
Chapter Ten: Memorial and Victory

Eastern Ansalon
Northern Khur

After seeing to the wounded and seeing that they are being taken
back to Inath-Wakenti, Talidaar lifts Marilee and carries her to
Lashia and walks back to where the Death Knight is standing.
Words are exchanged, and Talidaar nods to Lashia, and they
travel the passages of magic back to the elven refuge of
Inath-Wakenti. The priests of the united elven nations come and
see the wounded. Once Talidaar sees that Marilee is resting in
her bed at their Home in the valley, Talidaar gives her a
sleeping potion and slips out. He kisses his wife and is off to
the healing tents to tend to the wounded. The following day,
Marilee joins Talidaar, Lashia, and Longshot at the Memorial
service for the lost and fallen.
Damara speaks for the elven fallen, for the knights of Solamnia
who came and gave assistance, for the dragons that carried us
into battle, and for the dwarves who forged the lances.
Talidaar speaks for Raina, “the Half-Elf Knight of the Skull
that turned her back on evil when they threatened the genocide
of her people. I’m told she was dying when she issued the
warning about her killer and his next intended target, the
speaker of the sun and stars. The speaker had time to escape,
and the dragon was destroyed.
Raina is given a high honorary posthumous medal, as are many of
the wounded and the fallen, awards for their service and, in
some cases, great bravery.
Damara, Lashia, Talidaar, Hythanas, Saida, Porthios, and the
dwarves are given special letters of special award for services
rendered for the Speaker. Damara is promoted, and so is the
Lioness, who is given command of the Elven Army again, but she
must turn it down as she is leading the strike force to retake
Qualinesti.
Even as the Wizards are congratulated, Dalamar has not shown his
face at the proceedings.
That night, a subdued celebration takes place in the elven wood
by a very relieved elven nation. The elves’ experiences of
hiding in the tunnels have left everyone rattled, and getting to
enjoy a night of peace for the first time in days has brought
joy back to the people.
Marilee is at their home in the valley. Longshot was subdued all
day as well, and
A little while later,
Lashia and the elven wizards gathered the dragon scales for
Lashia, and she thanked them for their assistance. Lashia begins
preparing things to depart the next day. Things were quieting
down for the most part, but she could still hear the dwarves
still celebrating down the way. She saw that Dalamar had
reappeared and spoke with the speaker momentarily but then
disappeared with Porthios and her husband.
Lashia asks Marilee if she going to Merwellyn in the morning.
Marilee tells her she wants to go with Lashia to Ergoth for the
Winter. “I want Las.” Lashia comes over and hugs her
stepdaughter with all of the love and support she can give her
until she can be with Las.

“Just remember, we are stopping by Merwellyn for clothes and
whatever equipment and supplies we need, we will also need your
father to open the vault because we will need to money to shop
while we are in Ergoth.” Lashia looks at Marilee at that last
part, and Marilee breaks down and gives a little smile to that
idea.
“Your sister has an Imperial Ball she is invited to, and I am
not missing it. You have to help me pick it out.”
“I recall you saying that before,” Marilee answers. She reflects
on her younger sister and says how weird it was to see her
fighting like she was, I would have never guessed her for a
two-handed fighter, but now I know what to get her for her life
day.”
Lashia calls to mind what she has been thinking about this, “It
was a shock, but the more I have thought about it, and I am glad
she is toughening up. I had been in plenty of fights before her
age. I just didn’t want her to grow up. I didn’t want you to
grow up, live all those years away from us.”
“What’s done is done as they say…I’m going to have a drink with
the dwarves, maybe two.”
“Remind them we are leaving early.” Lashia calls after her.
Still later, Marilee comes in and goes to sleep on her bed in
her front room. Lashia is drifting in and out of sleep in the
Master bedroom when she hears Talidaar approach. She closes her
eyes and pretends to sleep, and he climbs into bed after he rids
himself of his clothes.
They share some words, and he assures her he won't give Porthios
everything he wants.
They curl up together, and soon, sleep takes them.
The Next Day,
With goodbyes made with the Speaker, and family and friends,
Talidaar finds out Marilee’s intentions to go with Lashia for
the winter with Las. Talidaar just shakes his head and smiles.
Talidaar knows he has to give up this fight and says, “Okay,
okay. When Lashia and I get back from the Blood Sea, we will
head out. You might want to make sure the Dwarves are ready.”
So, with Longshot with Marlee, Lashia, Talidaar, and the dragon
scales, teleport to the Blood Sea to see Karnea, the Master of
the Black Robe.
Eastern Ansalon
The Blood Sea Isles
The Blood Sea Tower of High Sorcery
Talidaar and Lashia walk through the Port town and to the gate.
Soon, a Cartaker, the dwarf, comes down to the gate from the
Tower.
The skeletal oxen-pulled cart is brought outside of the gate and
loaded. The Black Robe Caretaker assists, and once all the
dragon scales are loaded, the cart is pulled back to the service
area, where they will eventually get to where they are being
stored.
Meanwhile,
The Caretaker leads Lashia and Talidaar through the gate and up
the walkway. The strong magical effects have been lessened for
the Master of the Tower’s guests. The spell effects and magical
waves do not hit them dead on, and the Caretaker makes sure they
arrive at the Tower.
Soon,
Lashia and Talidaar are in Karnea’s study, sitting across the
Vallenwood table with his old friend Karnea, Master of the Black
Robe.
Talidaar explained the outcome of the fight and his intention of
meeting the Dragon in the Desolation with its eggs.
Karnea asks if it is true, these eggs might be Malys’s
offspring.
Talidaar answers, “I cannot say for sure, but the eggs meant
more than the destruction of the elves.”
Karnea ponders the issue and observes, “It’s a big decision to
allow those eggs back out into the wild again. One day, we have
five Malays to worry about. That does not seem to be a long-term
solution, and yet it is the deal you agreed to.” Taking a long
sip of wine, she fixes her old friend with a raised eyebrow. “Of
course, if you were to, perhaps, leave the eggs in my care, you
would no longer be responsible for anything that could possibly
happen to them,” she offers.
“I’m afraid I have already made the bargain, if I expect the
Dragon to adhere, I must also.”
Karnea sits back and says simply, “A pity to be sure. We may yet
save future generations from ruin, just think about it.”

“We have time before we have to worry about that.” Talidaar
counters. “Something else that I wish to discuss with you. Why
have you and Longshot not aged since before the Chaos War?”
“The Kender happened to be with me when we were on an adventure,
there was nothing to it; it has only become pronounced now. It
happened so long time ago.” Karnea answers vaguely.
“How long?” Talidaar persists, “the Kender is not aging, do you
know what that means?”
“Yes, I’m painfully fully aware of what I have unleashed on this
world, thank you.” Karnea answers without any feeling on the
matter.
“Will he and you live forever?” Talidaar asks.
“I wouldn’t think so, just a very long time.” Karnea answers
vaguely. “Anything else you are concerned about?”
“No, as long as you aren’t worried about it, I won't worry about
it, but if he drives me crazy, I’m sending him back to you.”
“I don’t think you really have to worry about anything
unfortunate happening to Longshot. He has already lived far
longer than any ordinary Kender and hasn’t managed to have
gotten himself killed yet. When he becomes a nuisance, send him
on his way to find some magical gewgaw in the Desolation.”
“Very well. The Hierophant answers. “With that out of the way, I
was just in a meeting with Dalamar and Porthios. Porthios wants
to resort to poisoning or for Dalamar to develop a disease that
will make the Goblins leave Qualinesti. I think this should
involve the Wizards because whatever land deal Porthios is
willing to make is going to drive the goblins right into Wayreth
lands. Porthios wants to take Qualinesti back, and I’m going to
try to get them to leave before any of that happens. I just
don’t know how successful I’m going to be.”

“A Disease…huh…. An interesting notion.” Karnea comments,
thinking while looking off somewhere or some other time.
“Porthios also wants to find out how he can dump Lorac’s
Nightmares on the Silvanesti forest without a Dragon Orb.”
Karnea is intrigued by the scale Porthios is thinking about. “A
desperate elf,” Karnea observes
“A desperate and dangerous elf.” Talidaar finishes the thought.
“Clearly he has not given any thought as to where the Minotaurs
would run to if they are pushed out of Silvanesti. Typical Elven
thought, if you asked me,” Karnea raises an eyebrow at Lashia.
“The Minotaurs are bent on conquest, and care not for what they
conquer. Silvanesti just happened to be the weakest spot on
Ansalon at the time. But they will just try to return to the
forest or the next thing they can dominate. This should be
thought about more and coordinated.” Karnea pronounces
carefully.
Talidaar nods.
Lashia has been aghast the whole time while the two old
acquaintances talk back and forth. Creating Diseases and
unleashing nightmares on Silvanesti? This is what was talked
about at the meeting of the three last night.
With business between them completed, Lashia and Master Karnea
shake and nod to one another, and then Karnea tells Talidaar,
“Farewell, until our paths cross again.” Karnea sees them to the
roof of the Tower.
Moments later,
Eastern Ansalon
Northern Khur
Inath-Wakenti
Lashia and Talidaar reappear near their Home in the Valley. It
is a late fall day. Marilee appears with Longshot and the
dwarves, the Cleric of Reorx Torin Stonebeard and warrior,
Ragrim Shattershield, ready to return to their friends.
Talidaar boards the Navigator when everyone else is aboard, and
Lashia climbs into the Spelljammer chair and puts on the helmet,
The ship rises and flies west, trying to stay at treetop level,
and avoiding any Dragons that are on patrol.
Once over the New Sea, they cruise above the water and make good
time to Abanasinia.
Talidaar tells Lashia to dock at the Forest’s shadow port.
Once the Navigator is docked at the shadow dock, everyone
disembarks and follows Talidaar. The first to come and see them
and the guests are Talidaar’s animals, Kas, the black panther,
and Shado, his wolf. Ben even comes out and comes down the path
to greet Talidaar. The Guests follow Lashia into the Keep. They
are finally home in Merwellyn.
