Soreelspace
There are eight planets within the Soreel system. The Primary
is large and still young (as far as the cosmos is concerned,
though humans would look at it differently). Starting from the
sun and going out, the planets are:
NAKEEL: This small desert planet has no moon and very little
water. There are small strips of savannah and tiny oases, which
are the places greatly contested by the various nomadic humanoid
tribes. It is a planet that is almost barren of life, though
life can be found if you know where to look. (For those of you
in the know, think the Freman from Dune is only not quite so
civilized.)
SIGOON: This large water planet has roughly 10% land strung
across the surface like miniature jewels. Its three barren
moons, Ankir, Nakir, and Vakir, cause complex tidal patterns and
currents. While there are a few humanoids on the islands, the
vast majority of the population is obviously water-based, with
an emphasis on merfolk. However, the underwater empires of
Sigoon promote the togetherness of species, though the merfolk
are considered the supreme.
KE'UN: A lush and tropical planet, Ke'un is somewhat earth-like
in the fact that it has seasons (monsoon and not) and some
different terrain such as mountains, a tiny desert, and meadows.
Many gods are worshiped here, though the main god is the lunar
goddess, the Sister of the Cosmos, She Who Reflects Us, Yu'en.
This moon is almost the size of the planet, and its pale silvery
surface dominates the night sky. The Three Empires, Those
Descended from Sky, Earth, and Moon, work on a strict caste
system and there are no deviations allowed. What you are born
into is what you will live, forever, your life in and die in.
(Try to imagine a combination of India, Tibet, and Turkey--all
in a tropical setting.)
SOREEL: The most earth-like of all the planets. (Has its own
Entry elsewhere)
ARIMAL: This rugged, mountainous planet is not for the faint of
heart nor those without a clan. Almost completely made of
mountains and highlands, the small but fierce clans of humanoids
and aerials work at agriculture and hunting. No matter the
species, families are arranged into clan structures, and loyalty
to the clan is very important. Thou shalt not betray the clan
nor dishonor it by
thy actions. Thou art from the clan, and the clan will support
and help thee.
There are no kings, merely clan chieftains who have attained the
position due to merit, not bloodline or wealth. Though very
warlike, they respect those who treat them honorably, and to
break an oath or a treaty is enough to be denounced and possibly
cause bloodfeud.
NUVA: unexplored gas giant
TISHA: unexplored gas giant
MAROOK: This unusually small planet is tucked away at the far
end of the system, unnoticed until Zeva led her troops out.
Once near, she was drawn to its chief anomaly--an almost
complete sphere of tiny ice chips surrounds the planet and
rotates around it. It has a very small population of people,
mostly located at the small break in the sphere where light can
continually get through (which has produced a tundra that can be
sown with crops for a brief matter of time), though others have
fled underground into the icy mountains and carved out homes in
their frozen embrace.
For the most part, a simple people, they have devoted much of
their time to inventions and philosophy.
