       Condenser microphone vs dynamic.
Condenser microphones require Phantom power as dynamic don't.
Which means dynamic are much more versatile. Condenser mics
have a more open and brighter sound, but are much less forgiving
in dynamics. Dynamics are more "rugged" as it is said in the
industry. They are use on things like snare drums, toms and
kicks. Some bass instruments and horns. It handles loud signal
levels with a good sound quality. Where the condensers are much
more sensitive. I often combine the two when recording to get a
balanced sound. The close tight sound of a dynamic and the open
detail of a condenser and then adjust the levels of each mic in
the vocal mix to suite the song/ vision.
Vocal technique is one of the most often over looked and
underestimated things when recording. Experience with recording
vocals in the studio is essential and will make or break getting
a unique or solid take. With dynamics, the vocal pick up
pattern is a small area like a mushroom around the mic.
Condensers typically will pick up a lot of the area around them.

There are many ways of setting up mics, but the most common
"pick up" patterns are: Cardiod (small area around with behind
the mic cancellation). Omni ( picks up all around the mic ),
hyper cardiod ( only picks up whats in front of the mic. Very
good side and rear noise cancellation.
When quite parts are being recorded, you want to move closer to
the mic. Then on louder parts, move lsightly back from the mic.
The best thing I have found to capture this is an omni dynamic
mic with a condenser just a bit back from the dynamic mic.
Check for phase issues. When using a typical cardiod dynamic
mic, you'll notice the voice or instrument has more low end, the
closer it is to the mic. It is called the proximity effect.
When using omni directional dynamic or condenser mics, this
effect isn't there. So combining an omni dynamic with a
condenser gives the best of all worlds.

This is one of the most affordable and versatile mics I have
       used.

This is a great mic for rap/ aggressive vocals. It is used on
bass amps, drums, vocals and anything that requires a tight and
       accurate low end.
