Side story: The Archer and The Paladin

Kiera notched another arrow. She had to practice to become
better so she could protect Emily if push comes to shove with
The Order people, who were slowly but steadily taking all of
Bournemouthshire. Kiera hit the bull’s-eye yet again. She
went to notch another arrow when she heard the ever sarcastic
voice of Rita Arthurs.
“Shouldn’t you be reading a book, Pearson?”
accompanied by the hefting of a short sword, Kiera knew her
peaceful training session had officially ended.
“Shouldn’t you be off sacrificing bread made with
goat’s blood, Arthurs?” punctuated by the her arrow
hitting her mark, Kiera thought that she’d made a good
point, until Rita spoke again
“That was Tuesday, Pearson, I thought you would have
covered that in the eight times you’ve read through the
library, you should have been in Sapphire, the way you
read.” The long haired girl jabbed at the training dummy.
“Sorry, the library doesn’t have much in the way of
fiction.” Kiera knew she was pushing it, but her entire
being boiled over at this girl’s ability to down tread
everyone with as much as a withering look. Before Kiera knew it,
a sword was at her neck.
“Say another word against the Sun-god and I will
personally deliver your neck to his shrine.”
Kiera used the arrow she was about to load to tear Rita's
clothes, then she shoved back the distracted girl. Rita went to
slice Kiera's side but Kiera blocked it with her bow. Rita used
the deflection to go for Kiera's left side instead but Kiera
used the arrow to block the blunt training sword and used the
opening to kick Rita in the stomach. The taller girl stumbled
back into the target, so Kiera shot an arrow above Rita's
shoulder, pinning her to the target. Kiera fired again to pin
her other shoulder but Rita had ripped to arrow free and knocked
the other one from the air with deadly precision. Rita ran and
took a swipe at Kiera's legs, but she jumped just before the
blunt edge hit. She went to bring her bow down on Rita's neck,
but the other girl swung her sword round and knocked the bow out
of Kiera's hand and just over the weapon's bin beside Kiera.
"Feel naked without your precious bow, Pearson? Nothing to
protect-" but Kiera had reached in to the bin, grabbed a whip
and snatched the sword out of Rita's hand, pulling her arm with
it. Kiera grabbed her wrist. "I'm good." Kiera spat. Rita went
to punch Kiera but Kiera pushed the arm she was holding away and
blocked the punch, and then delivered one to her stomach. Kiera
then twisted the young paladin around by her fist and kicked her
back into the target. Pinning both her shoulders, Kiera leant
in. "Not many people can best me in a melee, I'll give you that,
but even less can beat me in a fist fight." She let Rita go,
causing her to stumble for a slight second.
"Wait, you're saying that I won the sword fight, even though I
lost my sword?" The long haired girl asked, incredulously.
"Well, yes! I lost my bow first, didn't I?" The 'duh' in Kiera's
voice was hardly restrained. Both girls took a deep breath,
before Kiera spoke again, "We'd make a great team, us two, if we
called a truce." Kiera bit her lip, expecting Rita to say
something.
"So are we? Truce-ing?"
"I'm not sure that's a word, Rita." Kiera smiled
"You're the book worm," Rita held up her hands as Kiera stooped
down to get her bow, "hey, I know this sounds weird, but do want
to help me store some food, you see, I've been collecting, I
case the Order come." Kiera stopped.
"Oh my goodness! No way! I've had Emily do the same thing for
months while I've been training harder in case I have to protect
Emily from The Order!" Both girls looked at each other in
amazement, "Why weren't we friends earlier?!" Rita put her hand
on the shorter girl's shoulder.
"I don't know, Kiera, I don't know."
Kiera, from force of habit, bit on Rita's hand.
"Ow! Why d'you do that?!"
"Oh yeah, I bite!"

This is quite funny XD Buuut there are some grammar errors and
misspells =3= *nag nag nag and so on* I like the story though,
mind you :P (what would have been even more funny though if you
bit me in the end or something since that's how you reacted on
Friday XD)
