Will of Lacrimosa
In the falling darkness of the night
With no morrow for foresight
There stood a maiden of the Moon
Forever weeping, stood on ancient rune
Of the ancient bygone days of old
Of which myriad prophets have foretold
In legend of more than one
With countless versions, accurate none.
The sorrow spread throughout the lands
Meandering from the maiden’s hands.
Her sorrow grew long, deep and ancient,
Forever weeping for associated with her vagrant
Countless glimmering girls of the lore
From whom those many legends have bore
By very same prophets and poets for whom
The maiden’s weeping shall grow and bloom.
One girl (the waning ‘crone’) for whom she wept
Was kind as she led those who forever slept
To Other side and back for rebirth as well
Yet many then condemn for that to hell.
A witch! they cry with rage, A creature of ghosts and ghouls!
And yet a lock of hair of the weeping maiden those fools
Place next to their bygone kin to guide them pure
Into eternal slumber where they shall be secure.
Another was a victim of one’s love for men
As many lovers surrounded the girl (the full ‘mother’) then.
Not just one deity had the girl romanced
Yet it was a mortal who had her all entranced.
But this was unrequited hopeless love held cumber
For the mortal slept forever in youthful slumber
Granted him by one which held the most might
And so the girl visited and kissed the mortal just by night.
The third, not last, a girl (the waxing ‘maiden’) of honour
And protector of the weak, immune to others’ fawner.
A cruel trick of fate had befallen her – one immune to
Aphrodite.
Despite this immunity of hers, a love had bloomed almighty
For a companion of hers – one known as unfortunate hunter.
This did not last as the girl was tricked to pierce the latter
With a beast who was eternally honoured stellar
By the trickster twin, or claims not just one story teller.
Those are but the three the weeping maiden mourns
Yet never daring to even remember those she scorns
For no matter what happens to them –
No good will from those emotions ever stem.
(I plan to add on more stanzas..perhaps...as each one told the
summary of the symphonies/ballads)
