       Studies in the Sixties..

Thought I'd throw this one the wall and see if it
sticks.....Gonna post a one hit wonder from the Sixties and hope
       some of yall follow suit...
This number...Only thing I think they ever did that anyone
heard. I thought the way the guy delivered the lyric was kind of
cool in that he's talking about a girl cheating on him and kind
of laughing his way through it, as well as a bit threatening.
Two Rickys wanging away and a Firebird bass..which in and of
itself was a bit out of the ordinary. The singer's swag is
pretty cool. The Sixties were permeated with "Videos" like this,
Lip synced performances with girls dancing away.

I like the song and remember it. I wonder what year it was
recorded. I'm thinking maybe it was Dylan influenced. The
shouting rap rather than a defined melody like Subterranean
Homesick Blues and other stuff circa 1965. It's hard to believe
looking back, at how his influence affected the pop music
       landscape.

oh, hell yeah...my brother Rick sang the lead on that one..he
was more R&B oriented rather than Beatle- ites like the rest of
us, he used to to walk to the stage Mic in hand, with a white
hankie in other hand, and work up the girls on that song.
he was tall and handsome and the wimmins loved his act.
He was also in an impromptu R&B side band called 'King Richard
and the Crusaders' He did a killer Percy sledge 'When a man
       loves a woman'
Yup...'Swagger' is a good word to describe the lead singers
       delivery on that song AJ.
The flip side of that 45 record is pretty good too as I
       remember..
we used to buy/ steal every record we wanted to cover, play 'em
over and over to get everything close to right...
so I think one of us still has it.

REM used to do that song on some of their early live sets.

You've spoken so much about your brother....Y'all musta really
been somethin' back in the day...That was a really popular song
then, but I don't remember the flip side of the record at all. I
do remember it being considered as a song the band I was in
should do, but we covered this one instead..

it..but me sure likey it now. O0
I hope you sang lead, because that guy sounds a lot like you and
       with your voice inflections.
       I don't know how I missed these guys..I watched Dick Clark's
American Bandstand religiously since I was 14.
       Great find Jim.🤙

I know you had to hear Love's version of "Hey Joe"...It predated
both the Byrd's and Jimi's version.
I eventually sang lead on it. We had a singer when we first
started covering it, but he quit to take a regular gig at
Shakey's Pizza playing banjo and singing old ragtime stuff.
First practice after he left I sang "Money", The Beatles version
and the guys immediately dubbed me singer. My voice was
considerably higher then and I sounded nothing like Arthur Lee
at all, but I always dug the menace in his voice. Couldn't even
get close at the time, but I guess close enough for our guys at
       the time.

Nope, just listened to it..love the bass carrying the weight of
       that song..
Kinda reminded me of 'The Leaves' version of Hey Joe..my all
       time favorite.
