I'm singing sacrificial Beatles songs to my deity. Hope
everybody is OK thru this. I've been wondering about repeat
performances. Even us here in Orlando. The hurricane season, I
think I heard recently,lasts till Nov 30. That's a lot of time
with these warmer waters.
Best wishes for your relations in PR Luke.

My wife's father grew up in Tunisia, though his parents were
from Italy, and he's so dark that he checks "African American"
as his race. Also tried to pass himself off as Mexican while he
lived in Texas. I haven't met him, though.

This is, without doubt my favorite movie scene ever.
Walken and Hopper are sublime..only ad libbing is when Hopper
says the word 'Eggplant' and Walken says 'cantaloupe '
this can possibly explain your FILs porported swarthiness.
I spent some time in Tunis, Tunisia in 1974..

Gracias Jim...I broke my rule and showed mi esposa your
post..she was moved by your concern, gave you a Benedicion.
I thank you too.
We spoke to Papi and other familia this morning and they are
concerned that this Puta Maria might be a deal breaker.

Tell your wife I'm bowing at the waist, and saying "Charmed to
meet you Senora" in my best Texas drawl.
I've been following the reports on Maria and it sounds like P.R.
is taking a helluva a beating...They expect the electrical grid
to collapse completely. There has been a Senate sub-committee
discussing privatization of P.R.'s electrical...This might
accelerate that process....Would mean a major investment for any
company willing to take it over. And no doubt higher bills for
poor P.R.
I don't have a dog in the hunt per se....But I would allow that
P.R. deserves Statehood if that's what the majority of the folks
there want. I'd support it. I'd also support Independence if
they want that. Being a U.S. Territory seems kinda third rate
and there's good folks down there that at least deserve self
determination. I'd be happier if they threw in with us all the
way though.

The whole statehood, Independistas, status quo, thing has been
bantered about on many different websites.
Some good posts on City Data, US Territories for some insight..

Sounds like the entire island is without power now. NPR was
talking to the Admin of one of the largest hospitals and he said
their generators were taking care of all the hospitals needs for
power...For the present, but that the generator system was only
designed to provide full power for a few days at most.
another concern that was voiced was that these folks are without
water as well, and the septic/sewage situation without power was
a really serious health risk.
Several Cruise lines are enroute to supply food and medical
stuff.
I hope your peeps down there are as tough and resourceful as I
know you are Ron. If there's a God, I would allow that these
folks could use some intervention, at least with the weather.
What the Hell is going on anyway? Multiple and more powerful
hurricanes, Giant earthquakes in Mexico, A moron takes the White
House....WTF???
