Luke's Acoustic Guitars
By: Luke17 Date: August 25, 2017, 4:02 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I've already posted my dear old Framus previously, so this is
the remainder of my acoustic guitars.
There is nothing here special, expensive nor exciting.
These are reasonably priced utilitarian Fender made guitars,
purchased (with the exception of the Martin Dreadnought) for my
recording endeavors after I retired about 10 years ago...
I spent a good deal of time in my music room, recording just
minimalistic takes of songs that I have written over the
years...
If I 'heard' the need for an acoustic classical, or the bluesey
vibe of a slide Resonator, or just a good meat and potatoes
standard six string...I bought these guys new.
It would have been silly for me to invest in the best..I only
wanted to get the vibe on the song I was recording..
I have friends who have the 'real deal' and could play the
sound I wanted way better than me...but my rudimentary
recordings were their jumping off place to take the instrumental
level of my tunes to a much higher level creatively, or tonal
then I could.
I had a sound I wanted but could only achieve it on a limited
level...
Fortunately for me, many local and regional guys really like my
tunes, and were willing to play with me in a local studio for
free.
These guys were even more than willing to tweak my stock
acoustics to a higher level..giving me string suggestions, one
guy adding brass bridge pegs on the Fender six string for longer
sustain..it really did make a difference..
As far as the Martin Dreadnought...It was bought as a gigging
guitar, and my 'go to' .. it has very good electronics ..I have
played local clubs with it..
I actually plugged it into a friends High end Fender Acoustic
amp and it sounded divine...bell like...it is a Mexican Martin,
it plays like a dream..it looks and smells good, it came with a
sturdy HSC for gigging..
left to right; Fender classical nylon strings-Fender standard
size six string acoustic- Fender Resonator with Fender
'F-holes'- Martin made in Mexico Mahogany Dreadnought - above
right, cheap mandolin I am still struggling with..

I think you have a fine looking corral of Fillys there my man.
Is the mandolin sitting on a keyboard?
What brand mandolin is it? I have a Dixon that was my wife's
granpa's, but my fingers are too knarly to do much with it.

It looks like a lot of sonic colors you have there.

I dig.
I own two acoustics, which is odd considering I've gone extended
periods without one.

I would say that is an apt assessment, Dave.

I always have one around..I do most of my songwriting on an
acoustic.
What acoustics do you have now Bucky?

A Lag and an 80's MIJ Alvarez, both thinline. My arm falls
asleep on dreadnaughts.
The Lag is my favorite, though the Alvarez sounds better
acoustically.

Bucky...I was not familiar with Lag guitars..did some research
and really liked what I read..
I need to get out of 'the box' more often ..
one of my younger musical 'holmes' swears by Alvarez guitars.

I have owned several Lags. They all sound great, but the
thinline is the keeper.
