Jim...so weird, was watching ABC local News this a.m. and they
had a very hot young lady reporting from a 'sister station' of
ABC in ..standing out in the wind and pelting rain, and her
       last name was 'Barrett'
       Natasha..
       ( two T's) 🤗

She's a reporter I see all the time on the local ABC station. No
       relation.

Well we have had a LOT of rain today...Took a tour of the area
during a lull about 9:30 and our bayou is handling the runoff
pretty well, but there are a lot of folks in the greater area in
a lot of trouble. A lot of flooding, a number of tornadoes. A
lot of the rivers are out of their banks and the rain is still
coming down in waves. The feeder bands just aren't wanting to
give up the fight yet and Harvey is wandering around a small
area and holding on to his Tropical Storm status with a
vengeance. When I started typing this it was a light rain and
now it's pouring. That's how fast these bands are coming
       through.
Keeping in close contact with my peeps and so far they are ok.
Houston proper has been getting hammered in the last two hours
and a lot of flooding going on, a lot of major thoroughfares
       under water.
Odd...When the wife and I went out this evening, we were the
only folks on the streets. It's Saturday night...usually Fry
Road is hopping baby....Folks hitting the restaurants and bars,
hot rodders and would be's cruising and barkin' tires.
We weren't out long...Just long enough to have a look see in
between the feeder bands....I told the Missus..."Well tonight we
       were the Wild ones again".

Glad that you're OK. And sorry for the folks who aren't.
Hurricane Charley in 2009 was the last one that hit Orlando
really hard. Hurricane Charley was a windy one. There were
trees blown down all over town. In Winter Park (adjacent to
Orlando on the north side) Laurel oak trees were everywhere.
Turns out Laurel oaks have a shallow root system and only live
about 50 years - who knew ? Live Oaks are now replacing them.
I had a couple of (not oaks thankfully) moderate sized trees
down in my back yard - fortunately the winds seem to have been
blowing east-west and spared my house.
But I also remember the reporting on the local weather news that
a lower force Category 1 or 2 category can be worse in terms of
       flooding rains.
What concerns me is the potential danger of increasing frequency
       and severity of these disasters.

This has been a rain event for the most part....An incredible
rain event that is ongoing. Many of the Interstates are
impassable in spots now. Lots of folks stranded, many more will
be soon. Most of the Bayous and rivers are out of there banks
and the rains just keep coming. My Sister's area is now under a
mandatory evac order but she can't get out of her
subdivision...But she hasn't flooded yet. Her in-laws gown in
Dickinson have water in their garage now.
My Brother and I are 10 minutes from each other but we're ok.
       It's getting hairy gentlemen.

Yeah, AJ...just got back from a long ride upriver to the source
of The Delaware River, (Delaware WaterGap)had the weather
station on and kept hearing 'Special Reports'.
I'm thinking to myself 'Jim seems to be downplaying this event a
bit'...but now I see the weather situation is getting a bit
       disconcerting to you..
Mojo to your sis, and to you.
I don't want to see your last post on The Basement reading the
       words 'Glub...Glub...Gluuuub'

       Casa...They got plenty of room.
It is a Damned mess down here though....I just got back from
traversing the main drag and there is a grand total of 3
businesses open...2 service stations and a Mexican restaurant.
Got fuel, got Enchiladas and tacos so we ok fer rat now.

Rough night. The water was cascading down the street like a
river but fortunately never got up into the house. Most of the
freeways are impassable at a lot of points but the worst of the
rains have, for now, moved east. Now our friends in Louisiana
are getting hammered by Harvey....Good vibes and fair wishes for
       them.
Didn't get much sleep last night. Glad the Boss has said nobody
       goin anywhere today.
