       Public Service Announcement

....Seems we have a Tropical storm heading our way...Mostly a
rain event...But it will last several days..So if I seem absent,
it will just be because the electricity is out. I've been riding
out hurricanes since I was 8...Am prepared...Ain't skeered.

I'm sure we'll be fine. We're on fairly high ground, as far as
the coastal prairie goes. 'Preciate the good vibes though Dave.

So far...all we've had is a bit of rain, and nothing heavy. I
left Baytown for home at 6:15 and while I 10 was rainy, faith
and begorren, the interstate was nearly barren of traffic all
the way home! Any other Friday night I'd have been 1 1/2 to 2
hours getting home from there. I hit the drive way at 7:00
       sharp.
Supposedly the really nasty stuff gets here later in the week.
Corpus Christi and Victoria are getting slammed tonight, and the
counties south of us are getting some bad stuff now. My Sister
lives in Brazoria County and she said they were experiencing
some really heavy rain. Her house backs up to what is basically
a swamp...And everytime they get a good amount of rain,
snakes....Lots of snakes come a crawlin' to her higher
ground...Scares the shit out of her. Her husband takes 'em out
       with a shovel.
I don't blame them for killing Copperheads and moccasins...But
garter snakes, rat snakes and other harmless varieties, I'm of
the live and let slither crowd. Many snakes can be beneficial.

wow AJ, seems like you work a rather long day...
do most of the cookin' and still have time for music and to run
       your forum.
       I'm impressed.
Yesterday, I cement patched cracks on my front sidewalk and
driveway..my back went out right after I finished.
snakes, man that sounds like a horror movie, snakes slightering
out of a swamp into your sis's backyard.
       Snake humor:
       One snake to another, watching a third snake slither by;
'I remember her when she didn't even have a pit to hiss in.'

       ;D
All my work days are long in the warm months, yeah.
So far we're ok. But 2 miles east, Mayde Creek is out of it's
banks, three miles west, a tornado came through about 6 a:m.
Sis is getting some pretty tall water behind her house. Kind of
worried about her right now because the feeder bands are
training right through her area. The storm is nearly stationary
a couple of hours southwest of us right now and my area is
actually in a rather dry zone for the present. In Between the
eye wall and the feeder bands.
Took a truck tour of the hood this morning about 9 a:m. A few
small branches down here and there, nothing to worry about, no
damage to any homes that I could see. Mason Creek comfortably
handling the runoff, maybe 20-25 feet below it's banks.
Everybody's light are on so we've been fortunate so far. The Lad
left for work about 45 minutes ago and took my advice to throw
the Tracker in 4 wheel drive. His store is only about 13 minutes
from here and it's freeway all the way, no high water reported
so he should be good. Home Depots down here are hoppin' baby.
His store sold out of generators, got anther truck of themk in
and sold all of those in about thirty minutes. People were lined
       up for 'em.
Anyway, we all gud fer now.

       3-4 packs of bacon..

Must be a regional thing..Down here they run for bottled water,
generators, fuel, charcoal and potato chips.
My last service call yesterday, the store had eggs on sale for
.88 cents. I'm not impervious to sales, I bought 3 dozen. The
wife literally said "What the Fuck Barrett?" I laughed and
replied "Dunno...But git ti boilin' 'em Baby. Daddy wants
       deviled eggs"

Jim...so weird, was watching ABC local News this a.m. and they
had a very hot young lady reporting from a 'sister station' of
ABC in ..standing out in the wind and pelting rain, and her
       last name was 'Barrett'
       Natasha..
