Iceland eradicating Downs Syndrome - Abortion and Evangelicals
By: indigo_dave Date: August 22, 2017, 2:13 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
A can of worms to say the least huh ? I received a Facebook
friend request from a cousin in the greater Austin TX area. I
haven't seen her in about 55 years. I figured out, with a bit
of googling, that she's part of a mega-church with a pastor who
speaks in tongues. I accepted the friend request. I noticed she
posted something about Iceland, criticizing them over abortions
to avoid downs syndrome births. I wanted to post - but
refrained. BUT, then when she posted another video related to
the same issue, I couldn't help myself.
I said (in print) that it's easy to criticize aborting babies as
"murdering babies" , but if every human life is precious as they
claim, then they should be concerned about children in South
Sudan or Syria - children who are traumatized, uneducated,
malnourished, and so on. It's easy to rail about unborn babies,
not so easy to make an effort to help the poor unfortunates who
are born into miserable situations in various places around the
world.
I tried to make an argument based on reason. What did I receive
in return. Parroted gibberish about God and how abortion is
against his laws. And so on. So when you come to believe in
your version of God, you check you brain at the door huh ? I
said in a post that (my beloved) John Lennon said that everyone
wants to believe that their religious fables are the only true
religious fables. So, there's no point arguing a point using
logic or reason. I left the argument and "unfollowed" my cousin.
Following a religion based soley on faith is mindless.
No response was given to my point about suffering children
around the world. Again, it's easy to criticize murdering
babies - not so easy to go out into the world and try to ease
suffering children who weren't aborted. Mindlessness at its
grandest.
I'll take an honest Athiest every time.

I bought my 1916 RCA Victrola, I bought in from the original
owners Grandaughter..the Victrola never moved from it's perch in
their 'Parlor' so in effect, I am the second owner.
She was a Social Worker at a County Welfare Office ...when I
went over to pick the piece up, I was suprised to see a
colleague of hers.. a Welfare Investigator of Welfare Fraud.
He had joined my unit, some Feds, US Marshals service, ICE peeps
on a recent raid just a week before.
We sat around, told some tales about kids being born in epic
numbers to Welfare recipients...
3 and 4th generation, Crack head Mamas of the 1980s having 2-3
babies addicted to crack..each child costing about 200,000 bucks
to detox..
Long story short. heh heh...
I took the Victrola to this guy in Bristol PA...he's old, but
the best in the 'bizness' to get these old machines right...
Mine, 100% original, just needed the old crusty oil removed and
replaced from the two mechanical motors.
The guy has tons of religious shit on the wall..pamphlets all
over decrying abortion..in the meantime he is pushing
Patriotism, Anti drugs, America, White Power, lets get back to
the old days, Blacks/Latinos and Jews are destroying the very
moral fiber of our country etc...but his strongest stance is
anti -abortion.
After he fixes my Victrola, I took him a spread sheet indicating
how many kids are being born by the very people he despises..how
many are born with brain damage, addicted, with physical
deformities,...nothing more than little vegetables, if you
will, that will cost the taxpayers dearly...a simple small
abortion would have solved a more expensive problem down the
road..
To make matters worse, this same sad flotsam and Jetsam of
society are copulating and making even more babies
The guy, is visibly shaken after I hand him the stats..
but he recovers quickly..gets his plastic face on...and tells me
to have a 'Blessed Day' WTF?!

I've got quite few faithers in my family. My brother and I are
both Agnostics, but my sister...who's on husband number
5...Still claims to be a faither...Voted for Trump...She makes 6
figures a year selling liturgical supplies and has decided she's
a Catholic now. I love her but Goddamn she was behind the door
when the brains got handed out.
I've got at least one cousin who is and always has been a
faither. Her sister is liberal and they barely talk to
each....Faith makes more obstacles than it builds bridges, at
least as near as I can tell.
Personally, while this sounds draconian, I think girls and boys
should have their tubes tied at puberty, and then have to take a
series if tests before they are allowed to procreate. No chance
of that happening,,,But I still think it's a good idea.

I just wish there was such a thing as a Retroactive Abortion.
The Orange One specifically in mind.
I think he is rapidly becoming unhinged.

Well wee 3 agree that the mind should be engaged in any (shall I
say) spiritual leanings. I wish I knew the bible better. I grew
up going to Baptist church but never paid enough attention that
I now know who Ebakenazer (sp?). Or who passed out the loaves
and fishes. Or where Noah's marina was located. I'm being silly.
But seriously, I wish I knew the commands in the bible that
people disregard now because they've evolved beyond blind
obedience. Like say, a woman follows the man's commands - "a
man to a woman, is like a shepherd to his sheep" or something
like this as I recall. So they disregard the obviously
ridiculous. But they cling to lose beliefs like every fucking
human birth possible should fucking happen. Put on your
thinking caps people !
I've had a cookie.

I'm stealing Noah's Marina. Not sure how I'm going to use it,
but I'm stealing it Dave. Just being upfront with you.

Thanks AJ. I did something evil yesterday. Someone I used to
work with often posts ridiculous nonsense. Some of it is that
"if you're truly my friend, you will not just "like" - you will
copy and paste" or some such nonsense.
Yesterday she had a photo of a cloud formation with a caption.
Something like "if you can see Jesus in these clouds" . There
was some vague resemblance to someone wearing a robe, standing
with arms outstretched. So I commented that I saw a choir
director with a dress and her arms out, ready to cue the choir.
Then I added, "I usually see Jesus in my pancake syrup".
