At this hour last year

.....,I was sitting where I am now. EMS personnel and Sheriffs
Deputies in the house. My wife, dead, lying on the floor, a foot
from me. She would lie there for 3 more hours, until the Medical
Examiners team arrived.
I remember how peaceful her face was. How all the years of
physical and mental agony she suffered, had simply disappeared
from her face. Her pain was at an end. Mine was just beginning.
The empty she left is what I trip over every day.
