My wife's Grandmother was born and raised in Corbin,
Kentucky...Home of Harlan Sanders and KFC.
The "Colonel" title is an Honorary one. My wife is also a
Kentucky Colonel. The whole damn state is crawling with
Colonels. If you do some public work, or do something to promote
Kentucky, the Governor can choose to make you a Colonel.
Men from all sides of my family tree fought for the Confederacy.
I have no problem with the removal of statues lionizing the
Icons of that War however. The hard and simple truth is they
committed treason against the United States. Of course, most of
the men that fought and died on that side didn't see it that
way. It was about slavery. The South was an agrarian society and
economy. Most people did not own slaves. The rich guys did, the
rich guys had the most to lose from abolition.
We have to remember that there was no TV or Internet with which
to disseminate fact from fiction for the average person in the
South. Most of them couldn't even read. So drumming up support
to secede from the union was simply a matter of demonizing the
people of the north.
Over 90% of the people that fought for the Confederacy owned no
slaves and were for the most part, farmers. Their reasons for
fighting were a mix of misplaced pride, and fear of invasion.
I hope I don't sound like an apologist. I do not wish to see
monuments to units on battlefields taken down, or on cemeteries.
But the statues of Lee and Davis, and the others involved in
that revolt in public places should be moved, or maybe
destroyed. But in an orderly manner, not by mobs.
And these miserable fuckers parading around in Nazi regalia, the
KKK, the White supremacists...These bastards......

The neo-nazi propaganda going around right now is hilariously
frustrating. People are acting like there's a Third Reich
uprising in America rather than a bunch of idiotic rednecks
getting together.
As for Confederate flags, statues, and other paraphernalia, I
don't give a shit. Keep it up, take it down, who the fuck cares?
It doesn't affect me or my dick. Those statues aren't coming to
life turning people into fried chicken, but if people find them
so offensive, whatever.
It's the call for censoring people that gets me riled. If you
censor what you deem "hate speech," then you open the door for
more censorship. The first amendment is not about what's right
and wrong: it's about being able to speak your mind without
worrying about going to prison. Violence on other side is not
the answer, and I oppose the far left and far right engaging in
battle royale. Both sides have been getting violent, and each
have their justifications for doing so. It's childish.
Acknowledging a bigot is giving them an audience, which is what
they want. Disagreeing with them won't change their mind; only
reinforce their beliefs. Ignore them, and they'll cry until
they're hoarse and crawl back into the shadows.

Not really. I prepare that same combo all the time. All three of
us like fried chicken and steamed broccoli.
Tonight I Bar-B-Qued baby back ribs, served them with boiled red
potatoes, and fresh green beans cooked together with sliced
green onions and yellow bell peppers, seasoned with Garlic sea
salt.

I use a bowl of Bisquick and bread crumbs with garlic salt,
pepper, and onion powder. It's super greasy, and the drum sticks
are full of fat. Wish I could find some leaner meat.

I usually just roll them in seasoned flour, then dip them in
beaten eggs then back in the flour again. it's what my peeps are
used to. I've tried panko, bisquick, a number of prepared batter
mixes and they always gave me their what tha fuck is this?
faces. The wife likes thighs and drumsticks, the Lad and I
prefer white meat. Do you use a deep fryer? I do, and it really
cuts down on the grease. Hell to clean though.
