Got a Christmas surprise
By: AJ Date: December 26, 2020, 9:14 pm

...My niece in the Northeast, her husband sent me a pretty cool
surprise for Christmas. A Korg Monologue. It's a short little
analog, monophonic synth. Pretty sophisticated little thing
though. Has a built in step recorder and is a blast to play
with. Me and the Lad monkeyed around with it Christmas night and
he was actually telling me what genre a lot of the preset
aprpeggio bits were.

Well, that's a nice surprise, for sure.
It might be a good thing that you have the lad to get you
pointed in the right direction with it.
If it was me, I probably wouldn't have a clue what to do with
it.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm totally out of touch with
modern music genres.
Hope you and the lad have mucho fun with your new toy!

I’m outta touch with modern music too. Modern music doesn’t
touch me.

its hit or miss with me mostly, same as the stuff i grew up with
... some i like, and a little bit of it i love, but no matter
genre or time i think the more commercial it becomes, the more
its copied, the more mediocre and less art is involved... there
some rising appalachia tunes that make me shiver and some,
meh... i used to enjoy nahko bears stuff until i found out how
irresponsible some folks can be about the lives they help bring
into the world and gaslight about how to live a spiritual and
ethical life... i simply cant listen to him... its like
listening to Wagner... it makes me feel ill...

There’s so much crossover in music now. A lot of the country
stuff sounds like 70’s southern rock, but without the raunch
that made that stuff appealing. The new truck came with a trial
of Sirius radio. I’ve had it on the Grateful Dead channel for a
few hours and that’s more GD than I have listened to....like
ever. I didn’t get on the Dead way back when. Gotta say I like
the jam tunes quite a lot.

mort got me re-interested in the dead... i liked a few tunes
but never really synched before... i know folks that dont get
it, some of it i gloss over too, but even in those passages
there can be found such beauty, and sometimes not, lol... but
thats part of what interests me, its always different. the dead
channel is dialed in on the truck as we speak.

You reference Mort quite a lot. Are you a presence at TOOJ?
About all I do there anymore is lurk, and not very often.

You’re right. There are a lot of people there that just live for
aggravating others. But not all. Well....Dinks posts there. He’s
the kindest fellow I’ve ever met online. And the best sax player
I’ve ever personally known.
