       Cool skies to come

       ...Well right now actually.
Look SSW at twilight and after. Jupiter and Saturn nearly in
conjunction. Will be another 800 years before these two get this
close again. Optimal closeness will be on December 21.
Also the Geminid meteor showers coming into prominence for those
of you far enough away from the city lights to enjoy them. 1-200
       an hour.

The weather here wasn't astronomy friendly this weekend, so no
       meteors for me, I'm afraid.
I've been watching Jupiter and Saturn since August when some
friends and I went out the Dinklefarm to check out Neowise.
Here's a pic of Jupiter and two of its moons that I took in
August. If you really zoom in on Jupiter you can sort of see a
third moon trying to peek out from behind Jupiter on its left.

Here's a crappy pic of Neowise and what I'm guessing is a
satellite of some sort in the lower right. These pics were my
       first attempt at astro-photography.
I discovered I need a heavier tripod, and a little more
       knowledge. ;D

Those are cool pics Dan! Probably not much light pollution at
       the Dinklefarm.

       Thanks, Jim.
There's not near as much light pollution out at the Dinklefarm
as there is in the city. They did build a heavy oil extraction
plant about 20 years back to the south, though. It is an
illuminatory (is that a word, lol) blight on an otherwise very
dark night sky. Still, it's nice to have access to the farm for
       this purpose.
