       He was a great man, possessed of true humility. He was a man
       with great courage to fight, peacefully, for the rights of all
       men. He had integrity. He was a truly inspiring figure.
       As far as I know, the ancestors of mine that took part in the
       American Civil War, took the wrong side of that conflict.
       So, to a degree, I understand the anger some have towards the
       movement to pull down Confederate monuments. I do not share that
       anger. Sorry to say that 50 years ago, I would probably have
       felt differently. Not now.
       I suggest they take some of those statues of Confederate
       generals they have pulled down and melt them down. Cast a statue
       of John Lewis out of that.
