       Push has come to shove...
       By: guest13 Date: July 4, 2020, 3:48 am

...with Cindy's job. As y'all probably know, she works at a
Beacon & Bridge, a regional chain much like a 7-11. Gas
       station/"convenience" store.
       She started there part-time in FEB12 at $7.40/hr. 8 1/2 years
of exemplary service. She's now the only employee at her
location (and one of the few in the entire chain) who is
full-time and NOT management. They've tried to get her into
management for the last few years---but we've seen how they
       abuse their managers. No way!
Twice she's had to miss time because of surgeries. Serious shit.
Other than that, she's missed a total of three days. The store
can't keep personnel, people are constantly quitting without
notice, just not showing up. Cindy has put in countless hours
       covering for such events.
Her regular customers love her, and for good reason. I'm known
around there as "Mr. Cindy" and I'm proud of that.
The day before yesterday, the current store manager (the 7th?
8th? since she's been there) walked out. Turned in her keys and
split, not to return. Cindy was required to put in extra hours
to cover this. Her recent schedule had her working 11 days
straight, 4 of them 9 1/2 hour days in a row. Mind you, she has
no scheduled breaks, no lunchtime---the only time she sits down
during a shift is when she pees! She's 58 years old and not in
the best of health---but her employer gives not a single fuck
       about that.
ENOUGH. Sick of watching that place suck the life out of my
beloved wife. Her two weeks' notice was submitted yesterday
       afternoon. No more.
Talking with our school district lunch lady contact. Looks
fairly positive. If not that, then something else. There are
       other options.
       Life continues to be---interesting.

Corporate America sucks the life out of people. I don’t want to
head right on into a full blown rant about it though.
Suffice to say....I’m completely behind you and Miss Cinny. I’m
hope the school food service gig materializes for her and no
serious economic inconvenience for you two is involved in this
       journey. 🙂

       Geez, Dano.
I hope you and Ms Cinny get things straightened away. I know
from first hand experience what staying at a shitty job can do
to you physically and especially mentally. I don't recommend it.
       :(
I'm thinking good thoughts for you and especially Cinny. :)

Well. Cinny changed her mind, withdrew her notice to leave.
I don't like it, but I can't argue with her reasoning.
I support her no matter what.
       *sigh*

What else can you do but support her Bro? Happy wife, happy life
and all that. It’s been my experience that logic does not always
       work with the fairer sex.
Also.....On occasion, their decisions, while running contrary to
ours, end up being the wiser ones. Much harder to deal with when
it turns out their way was the better way after our sage advice
       turned out to be stupid.

       The shit show continues---even intensifies.
Again, short-staffed. Again, jacking Cinny around.
Taking away days off. Scheduling her for unusual shifts. Putting
responsibilities on her that shouldn't be hers, because no one
       else will do them.
Michigan's minimum wage is $9.45/hr. She makes 68c above that.
Her usual shift is 6AM-2:30PM. The last two days they put her on
1-8PM. Totally fucks up our normal life.
She has asked me not to say anything to her manager and I've
complied. Y'all know me at least some---you KNOW that's been
hard for me. But I told her a few days ago---you put your foot
down, quit letting them do this to you, or I'm going to have my
say. Her answer---"I told the manager that if she pulls any such
shit again, consider it my two weeks' notice". BRAVO!
Schools are once again closed because of the hoaxavirus bullshit
(fodder for a different conversation)---but I spoke with our
contact, lunch lady friend Cassandra, this morning. When the
schools reopen, there will be THREE full-time openings in food
service. One is at the middle school that is an easy walk from
here. One is at an elementary that is about 1 1/2 miles away.
Cinny has already gone through the interview process and been
accepted, just got to be pee-tested (she'll pass).
       "When waiting is".
       Name the quote.

You gotta pass a pee test to sling hash in a cafeteria?
       I wouldn't have thunk it. ???
Hope Cinny gets her work situation sorted out.
I'll keep my appendages crossed for her.
