Imma go out to the Dinklefarm this weekend and try to get some
       pics/video. [emoji362]
If I don't turn it into an expensive lawn dart first. ;D

I bought a Mavic Mini by DJI.
It's inexpensive (relatively), and is one gram under the
Transport Canada requirements for a drone license.
If I get into it, I will take the test and hopefully get my
       basic operators certificate.
It doesn't look overly complicated to do so.
I realize it's not much more than a toy, but from what I can
tell, it's reasonably capable for the money.
Do you have a drone, Mr V?

yes, ive had my UAV pilot certification for 3 years or so...
stopped flying two years ago after the logging truck t-boned my
wifes prius, and just got back to it in march, during self
quarantine. dji phantom pro 4 is the bird and i navigate
through a set of avegant headset/goggles that project the images
directly on your retina... you arent looking at a screen,
youre in the camera. its an incredibly immersive flight
experience. you can get systems that allow you to turn your
head and see, as if you are actually in a flying vehicle, but i
do well enough just watching where im going. theres a mod for
adding an hdmi port, (my controller didnt have one) which
connects the virtual reality or viewing gear or to the big
screen tv in the living room... i use the i pad screen as a
constantly running back up... i dont care for totally
immersive VR although some love it. the avegant is open air...
you can see above and below the images painted on your eyes so
you can visually switch from “eyes on” to cam view just by
looking down at your controls or up at the bird in flight. the
way im set up, its like having a 50 inch tv screen floating in
front of you. a word of advice, keep up on your batteries. i
lost one due to not using it. the pp4 gets around 30 minutes
flight time out of a battery, i burn one a day, sometimes two.
right now im at three batteries and can fly all day by rotating
       charging them.
it takes me about two hours to physically get out check fences
and put eyes on each critter here at the sanctuary. all outdoor
checks can be done remotely, by drone in about 15 minutes...
play for a bit or longer... tune a guitar, tune my head,
       morning chores completed...

       Very cool!
Of course, the Mini isn't near that advanced, but I did get the
Flymore package for it, which includes three batteries, a
charging hub, propeller guards, a carry case and spare
propellers. Dudes on Youtube are getting about 25-30 minutes on
a charge if the winds aren't too strong.
My next door neighbour is into drones, and he had the same
advice re:batteries. I have read that you should charge them
every three months, but I've also read that they should be
stored at 50-60% charge. Not sure what to believe. My neighobour
does the 50-60 thing, and it seems to work for him.
       Happy flying!

i find i can fly about as much as i care with 3 batteries. you
can practically stay airborne but thats a long time to stay that
       focused... lol!

I've discovered that three batteries is more than adequate for
       me, at the moment.
I'm still trying to maintain line of sight with the drone, and
after three batteries, my neck has had enough. :P
