an old friend messaged me asking if i would play his online
festival for a meditation on peace. i didnt ask, i just said
yes. he was happy, i figured it would be nice to be involved in
anything musical... its earthdance’ 24th anniversary this year
and i was asked to be a featured performer... the email started
out... then listing what my submission needed to be, a short
bio, and my permission to let them run my video three times,
once each night @ 11:11 the last being the culmination of the
festival... not exactly what i expected and two weeks to video
submission. no prob... ive got this, state of the art
video/audio... 7 or 8 years ago... rained out, wind blown out
shoots, on location... in nature settings... lol... i ended
up two days after deadline, submitting a video im not pleased
with having audio thats cutting edge, but ive been smoother...
i think. no clue if they’re even going to be able to use
it... the time line was cool, we were in constant
communication and they wanted it no matter, as long as the audio
was good quality... i doubt it gets used.
on a positive note, carla saw the bullshit i was in...
downloading, learning to use and using file converters,
workarounds for iOs/winDows systems coupled with archaic gear...
adapters, cables, balancing act, took pity and ordered me a very
nice, prosumer video cam... panasonic hc x-2000... sounds
like marvin the martians ray gun, lol...

Good on Carla for hooking you up. Glad you’re getting a chance
to get your stuff out there.
You realize of course, our hardest critics are ourselves. I hate
almost everything I’ve recorded. The stuff I did with Dinks and
Bieke is about the only stuff and still listen to and smile.

this cam is way smarter than i am. the sound is more than i
expected... way better. on board, 2 channel, phantom power,
xlr mixer so i ran 2 leWitt 440 pures in for a quick test, and
it’s ON!!! first thing i did after listening was to phone and
order the adapter/resistor cable for the asmr mics... now to
       work out some lighting.

       30 minute meditation
this recording is with the upgraded asmr mics. i literally got
the first pair! honestly i wanted to not like them. the
original set is so clean and the separation phenomenal... i
couldnt imagine anything being better... until i listened to
playback... even with my badly compromised hearing, the
difference is starkly obvious... i took a little more care in
setting up... still the zoom Q-8, but running the mics into a
yamaha mg124cx mixer, no effects except the slightest touch of
compression in attempts to tame the high spl of the 54
inch,(137ish cm) on the lowest frequencies... its a beast!
48bit 96kHz audio. headphones or studio monitors for best
sound, headphones required for best asmr effect.
close your eyes, breathe... find a sound that interests you and
follow along with it... entrainment... enjoy.
this is meant as an aid in relaxation and im curious as to
others’ responses... any advice or critiques on recording are
most welcome, im interested in bringing my listeners the best
quality sound i can and i dont trust just my ears...
