The Dinkletruck once again alternates
By: dinkleburg Date: June 5, 2020, 2:12 pm

Way back in February, the alternator quit in my old truck.
I put a rebuilt and a new serpentine belt in it this morning.
I am, once again, truckin'! 8)
Better late than never, methinks. ;D

Indeed!
I just ordered a new interior door handle.
My sister's getting tired of rolling down the window to open the
door. ;D
Not all that safe, either, now that I think about it...

Especially with armstrong window cranks. >:(
When Papa D ordered the truck, he didn't get power windows
because he ordered air conditioning for it.
He said something to the effect of, "why would you roll down the
window if you have air conditioning?"
Kinda makes sense, I guess. :D

Practical thinking. Papa wasn’t a electric rolling window stone
obviously.

Well, I went for a Sunday drive yesterday, and I almost didn't
make it home.
Everything was going just peachy for the first 200 km or so, and
then the alternator would quit then charging, then die, then
charge etc. >:(
I turned of everything electrical that I could to conserve
electrons, and crossed my fingers and every other appendage
that's cross-able. I just barely got home with almost dead
batteries and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
Phoned my brother, and he said it's not unheard of for a rebuilt
to play out or even not work straight outta the box.
Then I phoned the auto parts store, and there's a two year
warranty. I should have another one by this afternoon.
Hopefully this will be the end of my charging problem, but we'll
see.
It's an old truck that could be harbouring other gremlins. ;D

Rebuilds can be a bit of a crapshoot sometimes. Especially those
involving electrical things. Sorry for the headache bro but at
least you made it home.

Yeah, I was kinda shitting my pants until I got off the freeway,
especially the last part when the dash started to light up with
all sorts of bad news.
On the plus side, I put the replacement in this afternoon and
just returned from a 50 mile test drive.
It appears that I am once again truckin'. 8)
