yup: we're on lockdown from today noon until april 5th
I'm at work now waiting for instructions, probably have to pack
up and work from home
only allowed to go to the shops/pharmacy/gas station or go for a
walk (groups of more than 2 people are not allowed)
you can stay for 30 minutes in a shop and capacity is restricted
to 1 person per 10 square metres
hospitals are putting up temporary facilities for testing
peak is expected to be end of May, so the lockdown measures
might probably remain in force well into June

I’m waiting for stricter protocols here to come down. The
numbers of infected people are climbing exponentially. It’s
staggering how fast the numbers are climbing.
This thing is whacking the economy as well. Congress debating
giving every adult in the country $1000. Guess who gets to pay
for that?
Lord knows a lot of people are losing money from the general
shutdown as we speak English though, so I guess making sure
folks don’t get evicted or have their lights turned off is more
urgent than arguing long term economic issues.
I’ve already said that as long as grocery stores are open, I’ll
be working. Dano’s Miss Cinny as well. Since the restaurants are
closed except for take out, grocery stores are essential. But
what if usually large numbers of grocery workers and customers
contract the virus? What are local, state and the feds going to
do then? Decide who eats?
My grocery store friends say they are selling out of flour and
cooking oils as well as perishables. So people are already on
thinking about subsistence style living.
Wonder what fried feral cat tastes like?

It's better stewed ;)
We're pretty well stocked EXCEPT for flour, yeast, baking stuff.
Only got so much storage space!
Refrigerator/both freezers/pantry/canned goods shelves jammed.
Fresh cartridges and backups for water filters. Generator tuned,
good bit of surplus fuel. 10s of thousands of rounds of ammo.
Sheesh!

I saw that. Trump closed the borders with Mexico and Canada
today. This time of year, we get a lot of our produce from South
America. So....GULP! ::)

I believe there's an exception for commerce---but don't quote me
on that, I'm not sure.
Nonetheless, this situation is bad and getting worse.
From a selfish point of view, we (Cinny & I) have a fair stock
of canned and dehydrated and frozen produce, but even that is
finite.

You are correct Dano. That’s a good thing. Without that crucial
element of trade....Even the grocery stores would shut down.
