where’s my fiddle?

thinking about Nero for some reason...
in our world, we are required by law to travel and attend annual
gatherings of veterinarians from all over the country and beyond
our borders.
it just so happens that in order to continue operating our
business and thereby, your pets, livestock, family members,
etc... we had to be in orlando this week... sure, we could
just say, “fuck it..”. and stop working, go on welfare or take
up a life of crime to support the childrens’ habit of eating and
wanting to stay dry and warm... so if fear is to be the driving
force of this life, i’m done with it anyway... there is a
distinction between living and existing...

True. The Pandemic has produced pandemonium.
It is up to us to determine fact from sensationalism.
"Social" avoidance, isolation, whatever it is they are calling
it now....Simply isn't practical in today's world. People gotta
eat. Most people gotta work to afford to eat.

ive been people watching all week... crowds of people all
praying to the plastic hand sanitizer gods... religiously
touching the same fucking spot that thousands rubbed their
greasy dick skinners upon... one after the other... collecting
their bacteria, germs, fecal matter, urine, snot, virii, and
boogers in one concentrated spot... for all to share. wtf?
i asked a couple of surgeons if they would use hand sanitizer
to scrub in... they laughed at the ridiculousness of such a
thought... seeing as it only takes about 20 minutes to
sterilize anything thats is SUBMERGED IN ALCOHOL... hand
sanitizer is a fucking band aid on a severed femoral artery...
false hope. use soap and water... scrub well... ive been
mixing in large crowds. i dont touch anything unnecessarily.
anything. i keep a prayer mala going which occupies mind as
well, and carry a bamboo flute... i am focused on not dropping
my instrument instead of “not touching my face” or walks, or
metal surfaces, or chew abc gum from under the table at the
chinese buffet... use common sense... dont lick the handrails
on the power walks or escalators... and for the love of
peep... stop touching those disease collection points... hand
sanitizer my ass...

It is getting weird out there. My journey to Kroger yesterday
illustrated the depth of the National panic mode we are engaged
in. The meat and dairy spaces were literally bare. Nary an egg
to be found. With the exception of giant beef briskets, no
meats save frozen chicken and seafood to be had. I interacted
with several other folks, all of us good naturedly exchanging
laughs at the absurdity of the situation. To be sure, these
folks were older folks’ like me. Folks that have trod terra a
while and not easily shaken by media driven hysteria. The folks
I saw with concern in their eyes were younger ones. Mothers with
children, the children more concerned with getting to the cookie
aisle.
My trip there was centered on a very few needs, fortunately. Some
incontinence products I unfortunately still need, some fresh
produce,(which oddly, there were excellent supplies of!) and
some fresh bread, which there was also plenty of. I got
everything I needed, exception being eggs. After cooking a
couple for breakfast yesterday morning, I boiled the rest I had,
for salads, and for The Lad.
The Lad gets to come home Monday through Thursday this week!
Because you see, the university has extended spring
break.....for the foreseeable future. He’ll be taking classes
online.
Bananas.

I am on the edge of "elderly". I have serious heart and lung
issues. I am in the supposedly "most vulnerable" group.
I have done very little to change my daily life in light of this
recent scare.
I stay mostly at home, just like I always do.
I practice reasonable sanitation protocols.
I buy toilet paper in the 32-roll package once every six weeks
or so---not to "hoard", just because it's cheaper that way, I
have space to store it and it cuts down my need to shop often.
(With my congestive heart disease and COPD, I blow my schnozz a
LOT).
My pantry, refrigerator and freezer remain well-stocked.
Again---not on account of any recent drama or "prepper" mindset,
just because it works for us and is cheaper to acquire that way.
We take advantage of sales and clearances, try to live as
frugally as possible. Not just in times of drama-llama
crisis---ALWAYS. We try to produce and preserve as much of our
own food as possible. For MANY reasons.
I fully agree that this hand-sanitizer craze is kinda silly. I'm
no medical person, just a layman, but even I see the fallacy of
that. It's a band-aid. WASH.
Gawd, I wanna win the fookin' PowerBall so we can move way out
back of nowhere and be left the fook ALONE!
