i met this fellow from nepal, online. he is a gong and bowl
master. by that, i mean that he is the guy taps with a small
hammer the exact spot on a bronze ingot for three or four other
guys, with bigger hammers, to form, (planish) the gong or
bowl... in this crazy rhythmic dance that reminds me of some of
the patterns i hear in bowls resonance at times... hmmmm...
anyway, he sends a couple videos of his shop as they are
fashioning some bowls, and some rudimentary recordings of some
rather large bowls... after a few messages we concluded that
this could be mutually beneficial and we exchanged contact
information... yesterday i got a package from fedex...
15x18” box and not very light... from nepal! carefully
packed inside, a set of 7 “chakra bowls”, smallest is a bit
over 6 inches, the largest is about 10” and all are very heavy,
well made, pro quality instruments. i examined each for about 30
minutes and jokingly i said something about a business trip to
tibet and the wife said we need to try and touch base with the
gong factory in china that she commissioned the 54” from as they
were interested in the same type deal with me promoting their
gongs? im picky about instruments, when and if i am allowed
that luxury, and i really respect both of these makers work as
first rate... and a chance to truly hand select from the
makers? holy shit, my. head is spinnng!

You cannot let this slip away Dude! Your practical expertise
with these instruments, and your unique approach to them is
something that would benefit you as well as those folks.
I mean, the target audience probably is not large over
here....But you have a unique opportunity here to widen your
audience, widen the awareness of the culture of those folks.
Maybe even give yourself, and the folks making these instruments
a fresh revenue stream.
Bon Chance Mon frer!
It would be quite a kick to see my Buddy on the cover of "Gong
Player". 8)

gong player magazine has a circulation of three subscribers, all
of them are my mom... lol... i got another offer from a
supplier. some antiques, all high end. they too are happy to
support... still in the beginning process of web pages/media.
but there will be authentic instruments offered in three basic
tiers of quality. tibetan gongs as well. i will link once we
get things going.

and you might be surprised the number if folks having some
knowledge about this gong and bowl thing... yoga, buddhism,
hinduism, and numerous other groups have been around centuries
before the new influx of “sound healers”... do i believe there
is something to vibration impacting our physical and mental
state? yes indeedy do! unequivocally, but im not sure it works
like taking an online course through acme... not saying its
impossible, just highly suspect... and im not sure id trust
anyone labeling thems elves as a “healer”... i believe we heal
ourselves in those instances... you dont buy it for 39.99
online...

I don't really think I'd be surprised....Seems I'm always
getting reveals into people I've known for decades. A couple of
customers of mine that I've known over 20 years...I just found
out last week they both have passionate and active interest in
the paranormal. Given their personalities, I just kinda
thought...Well that makes sense that they would be interested in
those matters. Would not have figured the extent to which they
are actively pursuing truths in that area though.
Neither of them knew I played at being a musician until I'd
known them over a decade.

one of my best friends is from my dads home town in new mexico.
we played chess, talked about life and the universe... women
and good whiskey... built shit in his basement with his dad.
rebuilt his damn ford econoline truck.. knew the cat for like
five years, and one afternoon im headed to a gig and stop by his
house... his mom says go on upstairs? id never been so up i
go, knock on his door and when he opens it... music
everywhere! trombone, sousaphone , euphonium and a coronet,
three saxes, a small upright piano , guitars, basses... i sez”
you play any of this shit or you just decorate in early music
store?”. that sonofabitch is one if the most incredible musical
minds i have ever had the honor of knowing..transposes any key
on the fly, plays anything he touches... and ive got into more
trouble with him than ill ever admit...
and the first five years we talked about everything but the one
thing that meant the most to the both of us....

We are all onions, aren’t we? Even the ones closest to us have
stories we haven’t heard yet.
We are all authors. Writing books with our lives. While others
may think they have read the book on us, inevitably, there are
chapters they have only summarized. Missing important and
surprising nuances and whole chapters along the roads we’ Taken.

yes... i read a story about a man that went crazy because no
one understood him... he had read a book that allowed him to
follow the train of thought... no one can know everything
you’ve experienced and thus no one is capable of applying your
particular set of filters to any situation theyre faced with.
sure, they get the basics, sometimes, but a lot is missed and
when you add up all the missing shit... youve lost the nuance
that makes my understanding different than yours... or even my
understanding different later than it is now... and in realizing
this, he realized he was alone... and always would be...
and the worms ate into his brain....
im good with being alone... i didnt use to care for myself so
much, but im trying to be a better me as often as i can.
some days are better than others.
