Lots of projects on the bench, one I'm REAL excited about.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Since I got on Fezbuk, I've joined several guitar-centric groups
       and made some great contacts.
Then my SSI claim got approved (at last)---they owed me over $5k
in back pay but only send it out in increments every 6 months,
but still, had a bit of budget to work with after some bills
       were taken care of.
The first thing I did was order a bunch of parts from
MojoTone---pots, caps, switches, knobs, tuners, &c to put into
all these half-finished Danocasters I've got laying around.
Working my way through them, having a ball with it.
Met a feller who CNCs bodies to spec very reasonably. Had him
fab up a one-piece ash Strat-contoured body with a few twists.
Routed for 2 P90s, standard control cavity, no football jack
plate in the face---7/8" lower rim bore (like a Tele) for use
with an Electrosocket. Hardtail string-through bridge. He
selected a beautiful blank. I finished it with tung oil. Came
       out very nice.
Another guy laser-cuts Baltic birch pickguards. Had him make one
for me with the standard switch slot, only two pot bores
(centered between where the usual 3 are), no pickup routs. He
wasn't sure where to place them so I told him I'd do that
myself, no sweat. Haven't cut it yet, hence no finish yet. I
need the neck to accurately place it before I do the routs.
Found a GREAT pickup-winder! Been doing a good bit of business
with him. He wound a pair of lower-output P90s for this guitar
(don't much care for "hot" pickups). Haven't heard them yet but
I'm sure they'll be great, judging by the 3 sets of Strat
pickups I've already bought from him and installed. He clones
certain models/years of Strat pickups, and some of his
prototypes don't quite meet his standards, so I buy 'em at a
good discount. They meet MY standards for sure! Some of the best
sounding sets I've ever had. He also rewound a Gibson
minihumbucker I managed to ruin and a P90 that needed the coil
wires reattached to the output leads.
Ordered the neck last---it's due to ship today. Quartersawn
straight-grain maple, large CBS-era headstock, ebony board, 22
medium jumbo nickel/silver frets, bone nut cut for Power
Slinkies, medium V shape, 10" radius. It will receive a
Danocaster decal, for sure. Maple will be tung oiled; ebony
requires no finish. I'll use round string retainers on it.
Schaller locking tuners, Hipshot hardtail bridge, CTS 7%
vintage-taper pots, Orange Drop cap, Oak Grigsby 4-way switch,
Switchcraft jack, cloth-covered pushback wire, top hat
Tele-style switch knob, flattop knurled chrome pot knobs,
       standard strap buttons.
This is a guitar I've wanted to put together for a long time.
Very enthused that I was able to spec every detail of it---and
have the parts fabricated VERY reasonably. When it's done I'll
have about $600 into it, and I get the joy of putting it all
       together myself.
