The pedal thingie came while I was plumbing. I downloaded the
updates and installed them. Plugged it into the amp. Has a built
in tuner which is easy to use and see. The rocker pedal acts for
volume and wah and that's cool. The other pedals have to be
programmed. So far all they do is switch between different
       patches on the amp.
Gonna require digging into to find a real use for those pedals,
but the volume/wah/tuner function is a blessing.
Funny...reading the owners manual a bit, the thing can also
control actions in whatever DAW I'm using, y'know, Midi
commands...I just want it to switch between settings on the amp
       and effects.

Isn't it something, how these devices have more computing power
       than the Apollo missions had?

Yes, it certainly is. Now they could just plug their iPhone into
the console and it could handle the entire flight and return
       trip.

My stepfather bought a hand-held calculator in the late
60s/early 70s when they were a new thing.
LCDs. The size of a 2lb block of cheese.
Add/subtract/multiply/divide. No memory or anything else. $250
       (in that era dollars).
       Mindblowing.

I remember when those first came out. That tech was a direct
result of the Space Program as well. A lot of folks think the
Space Program is a big waste of money. The pursuit of knowledge
is never a waste of time or money. I can understand when they
come at from the POV that the funds are needed elsewhere, like
healthcare for those without, food for those without, the human
       side of things.
I also think it IS a waste of money to take Men back to the
Moon. Nasa's robot explorers are doing great. Until some sort of
magic propulsion system is invented that doesn't require putting
people on top of bombs, in order to send them somewhere
completely hostile to human life, I think manned space
exploration should be put on hold with the exception of the
       Space Station.
