...One distinct advantage a Tele has over a standard wired
Strat..
...Tone control works on the bridge pickup. I've always
considered that a serious handicap on Strats. At least on mine.
Sometimes you want ear piercing treble, but not all the time.
True dat.
It's an easy mod to connect a Strat's bridge pickup to the 2nd
tone pot.

yeah....well...I only managed one mod that actually
worked...that was a push pull pot so I could throw on the bridge
pickup with the neck pickup. It worked..But I didn't care for
the sound. I've since had a nice local guy name of Neil Sargeant
install a mini humbucker in the bridge and use the push pull pot
to go from single coil to humbucking. Again...while his work is
top drawer in my book, the result I was looking for was less
than earth shaking. It's just louder when in humbucking mode,
and actually lacks some of the snap of the original single coil
pup that came in it.
I did replace a pup on my long gone LP. I put a Dimarzio Super
Distortion in at the neck, then moved it to the bridge, which
was a good mod. I took the pickup out and put the original pup
back in before I sold it. So I guess I've had a couple of good
ops.
But I'm not comfortable enough doing this stuff to go at it
again.

I'm tellin' you, adding the bridge pickup to a tone pot is about
the easiest mod you can imagine, just gotta solder in one
jumper.

More like just too lazy to take off the strings, take up the
pick guard, do the solder job, put the pick guard back on, put a
new set of strings on, reset the saddles. I’m tired Jack! It’s
summer, I’m tired! Besides, I’m in my “Tele” period, musically.

After not even firing up SONAR for a long time, last night I did
and I just plugged the Tele into the Scarlett, figuring to just
play with a track I never really finished. thinking to just
noodle and then use either Amplitude or Bias to color whatever I
recorded.
I was immediately struck by something. I've recorded guitar and
bass tracks dry before, and then used amp sims to mess with
them...But this Tele has just the purest, cleanest
tone...Dry...Sounds better dry than my Epi or my Strat.
Just saying. The middle position is my favorite.
I almost never use the bridge pickup alone on a
Tele---neck alone or both together sound so much better to me.
On my TacoTele I've got the bridge pickup height as low as I can
get it without ruining its tone altogether.
You gotta put a 4-way in that thing, I think it'll blow your
mind. Wish I'd had one when I put it together.
