I have no place to put my birdfeeder outside of 6' from
someplace the squirrels can jump from.

The little bastards are amazingly resourceful and clever. I keep
the birdseed in a trash can on the porch with bricks on top of
it. Saw two of them trying to move the bricks. So I put a cinder
block on it. Lol 😝

My squirrel (there are often 4 foraging around) seems to slide
down a couple of times and give up. But I've been chasing them
away when I see them raiding the feeder. I sprinkle dried corn
around the feeder area, so the squirrels have something to eat.
Earlier today, I saw a black crow with a piece of dried corn in
his beak. He hopped onto the bird bath, looked around for a
bit, and dropped the corn into the water. I figure that was to
soften it up. Then he picked it up again. I've seen corn in
the bird bath before. I wonder if the crows are the
ones who do that, or if others are intelligent enough to do that
too.

Probably the birds. I used to have a little perch with a nail in
it that I put whole cobs of dried corn on and the squirrels had
no problem just happily munching away on the hard kernels.

oterh day and they are completely shocked! they said that all
this time they thought those were squirrel feeders! kinda
sorta like setting out a tall cold beer on a hot michigander
summer day and slapping any dano that looks at it... without a
warning...
from a tree rats persoective, burd feeders that aren’t squirrel
friendly are evil traps that look like a nice lunch...

The neighbor's Pin oak hangs over my yard. It only produces
acorns every few years though. The squirrels bury them all over
my yard and dig them up all year long and eat them. I suppose
burying the acorns softens them up. The bird feeder I have now
limits how much the squirrels can get out of it at a time.
When i fill it, I pour a big pile of seed at the base of the
feeder. Not just for the squirrels, but for the Doves. They are
too big to get to the feeder, which is really configured for
smaller birds. Sparrows, Finches, Blue jays, Cardinals.
I do love watching the critters go about their business.
