Boy, no shit! Never saw Gilmour playing a Steinberger before.
Heard a lot of good things about those headless wonders but I
can't get my 'Head" around a headless guitar for some reason.
       Excellent offering Ron!
My favorite version is still the live one off "Made in Japan"
though..With brooding, nasty, old Richie Blackmore spanking the
plank and Ian Gillian screaming out the vocals. Not to mention
Jon Lord (RIP) burning up the Hammond.

Si...excellent choice AJ..that recording is still my fave
too...Blackmore had it all on the Made in Japan thing..
but to see how these guys put their indy touch to the song
       (charity thing) was awesome..
Roger Taylor drummer and Chris Squire Bass had a great groove
       going.
Right on about Dave Gilmours fleeting choice of guitar in that
Steinberger headless just sucked, and looked god awful..hated
       tuning those gimpy assed guitars...
Just so fucking '80's...suprised he wasn't wearing a padded
shoulder 'Duster' type coat and a Mullet..
heh heh..I must admit I had them both.. :)

Heh Heh...I bet you rocked 'em both. I never had a mullet, but I
had a rat tail for a year or two. And I wore my old Man's Navy
P-coat until it literally fell apart.
Those headless jobs had a good run though didn't they? I
remember Bowie's band "Tin Machine", their guitarist, Reeves
Gabrel played a headless and man that cat could blow on it too.
Johnny Winters played a headless Hondo for several years after
playing nothing but Firebirds for decades..He eventually went
back to Firebirds when his infirmity dictated he could only play
sitting down. The lighter weight of the Hondo's may have been a
lot of the appeal for him. The interesting thing was the tonal
changes were almost imperceptible..He always sounded like
       Johnny....RIP.
