I dunno AJ but fucking Paul Yanka DID cover 'Black Hole Sun' on
this same album..(1995) just like Steve and Eaty Gourmet.
;D
but I gotta tell ya..I think the muthfuckah nailed it...in a
Lounge lizard type of way..his backing .'Swing' band killed
it..so did paul Yank-yah. on Vox with all that Sinatra
phrasing..
I think Dave would do a great job with this song...

The verse of the Oasis version has that repeated 4 chord thingy.
I'll listen to Paul Anka's.

Have you ever heard "Champagne Supernova"? It's my personal
favorite of theirs...The guitar work just grabs me by the short
and curlies.

Regarding Paul Anka, there was an album called "Annette Sings
Anka". Mostly forgettable 1960ish pop. But listen to the
guitar solo on the 1st song, "Train Of Love". It is way hipper
than the rest of the song. I'm wondering who played it.

the guitarist is pretty cool on this cut...I am merely
speculating, but he sounds a bit like legendary 1950's
guitarist Cliff Gallup of Gene Vincents Bluecaps...
no, not saying it is him..(Cliff) but probably someone who
studied his licks and techniques.

OK OK...time to lighten up on poor Paul Yank-yah..but this
Lounge Lizard version of Wonderwall is right out of SNL.
the band does cook though.
Got that 'Pink Panther' vibe
going.
