what a gig! The Dudely Lama's Temple of the Gong..Take off your
shoes please

emergence burn was inspiringly insane! upon arrival i set the
pyramid stand in front of my village and new sri yantra gong
according to the alignment of the main temple...(which was also
a pyramid about 100 yards to my north). we had 20+ peeps in
Elysium, the name of my village... shivas temple, healthy
and not so healthy snack and open kitchen tent, chill lounge,
everyone in our camp was either artist or musician so color,
dance and music was continuous and radically inclusive. i gave
dawn and mid day meditations, opened three of the five main
ceremonies, i led the main temple burn with a song from my
favorite flute for their heart and a short paradigm shift for
their heads... they asked me to brng something big... knowing
my gongs, drums and most everything is over the top, and what
was expected, i brought my fave, a smaller than piccolo native
flute... i made a short speech allowing that its the biggest
instrument i have because it connects directly to my heart...
making it part of, and connecting it to yours...
with that said, i produced the flute and played for them my
heart... 400people, 399 surrounding me... and i could hear my
breath upon soft inhalation... i could hear the grass crunch
under foot when i would take a step between notes... the entire
experience was magical...

Sounds amazing Dude! So happy it went even better than you
expected. Given the trials of the last year for you, it's right
that Karma gave you a love payback! [emoji1422]
Would you mind if I stickied this thread? Then you could post
all your gig related posts in it. Won't move until you bless the
move. [emoji1431]

this was the stream...
ive asked the universe for years to find someone else that plays
my style on gongs so i can pick their brain... sort through
their trick bag and share techniques... evolve! grow! nothing
doing... so this kid wanders through my dome and we talk
about experimental percussion only he thinks hes just talking
about finding different sounds on 55 gal drums... he asked if
he could just touch one of the gongs and i answered quickly...
“only if you promise to touch it like a 55 gal drum”. he
paused, smiled and asked,” whats the proper approach?”.
“gently” was my only answer... her explored well and when he
was done, he didnt know how stop so he employed a technique
quite unfamiliar because frankly it doesnt work... well, it
only stopped certain frequencies... he had no clue what he’d
done so i explained and thanked him... and discovered what may
lead to somewhat workable scales... i can get ascending ir
descending pitches but this is repeatable, definite pitches in a
controlled fashion... unflippin heard of with chau gongs...

You may actually pioneering something here Jamie. has that
thought occurred to you?
You may be the first musician to consider scales for gongs. I'm
thinking they have only been considered insofar as pitch is
concerned.....You may be pioneering something here.

all i know is im having fun, learning new things all the time,
meeting interesting people and exploring their worlds... but
the best part has been listening to the stories of those that
have found some sort of relief in their lives by being a part of
what im doing. i have danced in joy with a child incapable of
hearing... even after a cochlear implant he couldnt hear
anything, but he heard for the first time in his life sitting
beside me and the gongs. or last week... after a dawn
meditation, a woman sat quietly, alone in the dome... crying
softly. i asked for permission to sit, she smiled, motioned in
front of her so i sat facing her. i listened to her tell the
story of my own mothers life and the death that visited each
attempt to bring life. i will not divulge the specifics but i
will attest that the details, even to the sequence of gender and
twins, the circumstances were uncanny. i asked permission for
giving a hug and she readily accepted. the hug lasted long
enough for me to share her story back to her... the exact story
framed in the late 50’s. i whispered “ hello mom”
today, i know a young woman... a vegan chef that works with the
rainbow people. she made sure i had good, healthy food to eat
and kept me on schedule with my blood pressure meds... she
stopped by during errands about the camp just to give me hugs...
and tell her son how lucky she is to finally meet him. the
universe is a strange place my friends...

The Universe is indeed a strange place my friend. You seem to
find yourself at several amazing intersections...

not much to report this weekend... well, a first... i had
four beautiful young women help me set up the dome, hang the
gongs and set up my entire rig... naked... two were yoga
teachers... the group hug pic will not be published, thank you
for understanding. all the teachers and speakers were female
and easily outnumbered the brave few males that attended...
yes, the creek area is clothing optional... i met an
exquisitely stunning egyptian yoga instructor that insisted we
were joined in a past life. she became a regular companion
through the festival and i cant say having that particular 33
year old attached to my person was anything but a pleasure. the
two main women organizers, late twenties early thirties, and a
particularly interesting photographer my own age became a
nuclear group during the event. im becoming extremely
spoiled...
