       ..A tank farm at a refinery here is on fire. Started last night
       with two. Now 8 tanks are involved. I could see the smoke plume
       from everywhere in the area.
       Authorities say it could burn for two more days. God knows what
       we're breathing down here.   ::) >:( >:( >:(

       I live in a city with three(?) large refineries on its
       outskirts. This could very easily happen here, too.
       I know the fire's out now, but nevertheless, watch out for large
       clouds of thick, black smoke, Jim.

       Well, they put it out after 3 days...Then it started back up
       again....They put it out again...Then it started back up
       again...It's finally out, but now all the gunk is washing into
       the Ship channel, which drains into Galveston Bay. >:(
       Oyster beds, shrimp, fish, humans all in danger from the runoff.
       The State has already filed suit against the plant, for all the
       good that will do.
       Over the course of the fire, I drove within a couple of miles of
       it several times, on business. It was unreal. It made me wonder
       about parts of this world that live with the horrors of war, and
       if they get jaded to seeing sights like that.
