The Niece flying in tomorrow

Our niece and her hubby and kiddo flying in from Mass tomorrow.
Looking forward to it. Wife's making me nuts with honey do's
around the casa. Niece and Hubby both PHD's. Really smart peeps
and a lot of love all the way around. I took the week off to
hang with them a bit. There's other family she has down here so
they won't be hanging exclusively with us. Their little girl is
6 so that's a good thing. kids that age are exhausting at times.
I'm sure I'll be going to the Children's Museum, the zoo and
that sort of thing.
Hubby is a guitar/keyboard player, but like me gets very little
time to play anymore. he's quite good at both. Lifelong Rush
devotee.

Plan to. I'm always exhausted by the time they go though. It's
getting harder and harder to keep pace with these 40 somethings.

All our "Kids" got in ok...But the niecette is sick. Running a
fever, coughing...Has those sad little sick eyes the little ones
get and breaks your goddamned heart. The niece had texted me and
said the wee one was illin'. I ran around the corner and bought
her a little stuffed elephant. Brightened her little eyes up.
She was real happy to see us all..Especially The Lad. He is her
cousin after all and she has had a crush on him from the get go.
They came here first. They always get a hotel suite a couple of
miles from here. just easier for them. They used to stay with us
until the little one came along. Easier to keep scheduled
bedtimes, etc. I fed them lunch. They went and checked in and
got some nap time in.(They had to get up at 3:30 to catch their
plane from the People's Republic of Massachusetts). The came
back over at 5:30 and I fixed dinner. Spaghetti and meatballs
for the big people and chicken nuggets, strawberries, and
steamed broccoli for the niecette.
Let Wrigley, the family parakeet out for a bit and niecette was
quite happy watching him do his "Laps" around the house. He
doesn't know her, so he wouldn't get on her finger like he does
the rest of us. That made her a little sad, but I explained he'd
just have to get to know her a little better and she was ok
then.
Does me good to have these folks here. love them all very much.
The Niece's venture in to private practice has been successful
and lucrative, and her Hubby still enjoys the science involved
in his career, if not the politics involved.
Looking forward to this week...Hope Niecette gets better.
S'posed to have CRAPPY,RAINY weather for the next two days, so
hopefully Niecette will recover and we can hit the Zoo and
Museums etc. mid week.
Hope it's ok I ramble on about stuff which none of you really
care one wit about......

Very much ok! Speaking for myself, I enjoy reading this kind of
thing.
The older (and frailer) I get, the more value I put on loved
ones, if ya know what I mean.
My son Luke recently visited me after not seeing each other for
quite a while. It was awesome (a word I try not to overuse).
Looking forward to an impending visit from my Ruah (the little
sweetie I'm holding in my avatar pic)---might even get to keep
her overnight 8)
Enjoy your visit with your loved ones and post about it all
you'd like. I, for one, will gladly read it.

Well the kids came back over this morning. Niecette a little
better. Decided to go to lunch and a movie. Went to La Madeline,
which is a french style bakery bistro. I had potato soup and
what they call a...Well hell...I forgot the name now...Some
french thing, but it was basically a ham and cheese toasted
sandwich. They soup was great, the half sandwich was ok too.
Then we went to see "Wreck It Ralph Wrecks the Internet". A kids
movie, but it was cute and enjoyable enough. Stopped at the
arcade inside the theater and played some Air Hockey. Came back
to the house and had some quality play time...Then off to a Tex
mex restaurant for dinner. Stuffed and happy...
here's me and Niecette at the Air hockey table.

That's an idea....Would be funny if someone else in the house
had chapped lips after the fact and unknowingly...

The Museum of Natural Science today. Had a blast. Got hooked up
with a private tour with a paleontologist, and got a lot of info
on dinosaurs we heretofore did not have. Got a fossilized sharks
tooth for the Niecette. Watched a cool film in I-Max.
Then had dinner at a upscale Mexican restaurant. Had Carne
Asada myself. It was awesome. Then off to Circus Italia for a
old style circus, composed of primarily of acrobatics. No
animals involved. Good family fun and young, fit young women in
very tight out fits performing feats of acrobatics that made my
imagination rush in sinful ways.
Niecette got her picture taken with one the young and nubile
performers.
Glad she cannot read my mind.
