the wife is up and about on crutches a couple days a week now...
wears her out but she is getting noticeably stronger by the
day... she is driving again, working 4 to 5 days a week, and
keeping me hopping! she has been super supportive of my gong
endeavors lately and talks about maybe taking some time off to
travel with me should it continue to grow as it is now. im
upgrading my trailer to a 7x16 ft , outfitting it with a solar
generator that will power my pa and lights, etc... i will
educate on the importance of ecologically sound practices in our
push for radical self reliance, while providing a private “green
room” lounge for me and my staff in a public space or a place to
crash if i want a nap in the middle of a festival... im
working two burning man sanctioned events in the next couple
months ...charleston sc and wash dc... and a sponsor that has
been courting me since last year wants to put me on one of the
main soundstages at burning man this year... same sponsor that
i like as well... its been a day since my hat was in this ring
but ive got the damn butterflies the same as the first time i
walked out in front of 5000 people at 23yrs of age... like it
was yesterday...

So glad to hear that the good doctor is slowly on the mend.
The festival circuit - sounds like fun! If money and my anxiety
were no object, I would like to follow the local summer festival
hereabouts with an RV of some sort for one season. Bit of a pipe
dream of mine - maybe I'll win the lotto before it's too late.
;D
Keep on keepin' on, Mr V! :)

the only perfect time is now. i have friends telling me what
my responsibilities are, why i shouldnt be out playing music
when theres so much to do... they smile and tell me how
responsible they are... i usually respond with a quiet smile
and continue doing whatever is at hand... this is why people
lead desperate lives. ive watched my wife work towards an early
grave trying to keep everyone happy. she said when the music
supports the sanctuary, she will take time off. screw their
responsibility, ive got a shot at more than a little musical
interlude...

dinks, ive found a cure for teh anxiety... i make up every bit
of it, everything is improvisation. the joy is that the more i
let go of trying to control anything the easier it becomes to
perform. trust your wings, not the branch.

I guess I should have been a little more concise. I was talking
about following the local festival scene as a spectator only. My
anxiety/depression often makes it difficult to just get to these
sort of affairs. A fear/dislike for driving just adds to the
discomfort, so I rarely attend these sort of events.
Performance anxiety is definitely a thing for me, too, but like
you, I make most of it up as I go. This works well when I'm
sitting in with my horn, but not so well with my duo partner
where things have to be more structured.
Stupid messed up brain of mine... ;D
