Marijuana....

...Should not be a crime. I started smoking weed in High School.
I smoked weed, daily, until I was 42. I never developed any
other drug habits as a result of that use. I dabbled in barbs
and psychedelics, but that was over before I hit 25. it was just
weed after that. Limited alcohol use, and I mean limited to a
couple beers, a glass of wine. Spent maybe 3 months screwing
around with cocaine in the 80's. Then decided, hey this shit is
bad, this shit is expensive, and gave that up too.
Since I quit smoking weed, my alcohol use increased. Not to the
point where it has affected my life, but it's pleasant.
I think marijuana should enjoy the same space as alcohol. That
is to say, be readily,legally available for consumption, with
the same restrictions on its use as alcohol. Not too many stoned
drivers kill people on the road. Certainly not even close to the
damage drunk drivers do.
Just saying...

Cannabis prohibition is ridiculous on so many levels. I could go
on for pages on this topic.
My current use of cannabis is mostly medical in nature (though I
won't deny that I enjoy the mild euphoric effect). My PTSD was
fairly severe, and the psych drugs given to me by the AMA
doctors made it worse---plus many other negative "side" effects.
Flushed all that poison down the shitter and started using
cannabis instead (by this point in my life, I rarely got high
anymore). IT WORKS and it doesn't do all that nasty stuff the
psych drugs did.
Personal anecdotes aside---why shouldn't an adult be "allowed"
to enjoy cannabis if they so choose? If they then misbehave,
there are consequences.

Feel free to go on for pages on any topic you like. We got gigs
of free space here.
And I could not agree more.
Funny....I do not even know here to get any down here anymore.
Fortunately, my kid does not either. He never was around any of
that. He just got to the point where he likes having a beer with
me every now and then....usually up here in the bunker. I'll
throw on a record...We'll listen..chat drink a beer a
piece...LOL...And he's as baked after one as he wants to
be...Lol....He's 23.

My observation is that much of what people are against, in this
case weed/pot/grass, is from what they've "heard" about it.
Decades ago (I'm 65) when I was first using pot, I discovered
that there was a lot of folklore (a.k.a. bullshit) around it in
mass culture. It makes me wonder how much other folklore is
being spread about other issues.
I believe alcohol is more destructive than pot. The way to test
this, would be to compare groups of smokers to groups of
drinkers. I wonder if this could be done in a place like
Amsterdam, where they have their "coffee houses" for cannabis
consumption. I'll bet they have little to no problems with
physical violence or arguments breaking out - compared with
alcohol bars.
And BTW, I have heard suggestions that psychedelics (LSD,
psilocybin , etc) may have benefits in treating PTSD. I've
read that Johns Hopkins Medical is doing a fairly big study on
psychedelics (finally after many years of being prohibited
because of drug classification).

Did you hear that report they did on it on NPR? I think it was
last week.
Alcohol does a lot more physical damage to your system than
weed, if abused anyway. Liver, kidneys especially. Plus brain
damage as well. I also listened to a report on NPR about weed,
and it does damage as well, but more to specific areas of the
brain.
Everything fun hurts you somehow, it would seem.

Cinny is doing pretty well, thanks. Had that dressing change at
the wound care place yesterday. Was hoping to get the surgical
drain removed, but no such luck. She'll be hooked up to it for
some time yet. Needs to be changed 3x/week. Looks like we can
get a nurse to come to the house to do it starting next week.
That will be most welcome; we're both thoroughly burnt out on
hospitals, clinics, medical offices, &c.
