       Ok...So HC...
By: AJ Date: February 4, 2019, 11:12 pm

...is the slowest fucking place on the Interwebs...I'm taking a
break from HC. The turnaround times on there have become
       absolutely ridiculous.
used to be...I only really hung out in SSS...And lurked in
       Phil's place, guitars etc.
But then i started going to OJ...I dug the vibe...Met some cool
peeps..But the lag is just too much to take anymore....
I'm outta there for a while.

       Perfectly understandable.
I was recently sorely tempted to (again) lay into that Balthazar
Munoz dickhead---but I already got away with it once so I'd
better not push it. There are a few other characters there who
piss me off on a regular basis, but I'm willing to own that as
MY fault more than anyone else's.
I've found some work-arounds for SOME of the lag issues, but
certainly not ALL of them---and they are many.
HC seems to be circling the drain.
       N E way, there's the basement--- 8)

Yeppers....The rent is dirt cheap, the beer is cold, and the air
has the cozy aroma of flatulence.

..........Also....I have to amend my boycott of
HC...Somewhat...I'll still check daily to follow Freeman's
progress on Dano's guitar...But I swear I'll just follow the
link straight to that thread. Beyond that...I'm outta there.
I've already recouped some valuable time from ignoring HC.
Played some blues tinted guitar tonight.

Speaking for me, I check them regularly. There's not a lot of
action though. The core of the frequenters there seem to me to
be pretty highly technical. I like that because they are a good
source of advice and sometimes education. I don't post often
there, but really not much in any other forums either. The
place I subscribed to ("Peter Martin's Open Studio") has a
Facebook page and a place called "The Hang" you can read or post
in. But these are dynamic and things get pushed down the page.
It can be hard to keep up with something. I suggested to them
that they start a bulletin board forum where hopefully members
could share discoveries or share questions - this is mostly jazz
pianists. Open Studio has a lot of guitar lessons too, but I
seem to mostly see communication between pianists. Maybe the
guitarists have places where they hang.

AJ, I was just there, posted a couple times, and they appeared
       almost right away!
       Maybe...

oh well there's a belgian forum that is targeted to jazz guitar
       players
lots of lessons and good advice
I signed up for the lessons but I'm a lazy bastard and never
       really tried
I just go to jazz jam sesions and join in, I can cope with easy
       standards, nothing uptempo

To be honest...I don't miss HC. I'll check for new reviews of
gear, because that's one area where they stand out. I haven't
missed OJ like I thought I would. Sure don't miss all the
necrothreads that Corny feels obligated to keep resurrecting.
That Baltazar character is a particularly irritating sort. But
that's just forums. As you know I hooked up with TOOJ...Which
has a different set of assholes, but fewer of them. I like a
lotta guys there...Will hang for a while.
I feel kind of blessed really...Nobody in my little forum here
is an asshole. I really dig every single member, and The
Basement feels like a real place, where everyone is real...

Deepends just told me to leave ;D Wotta mook. He wants to be
       The Boss SO bad...
But like you, I'm getting real tired of HC's fuckedupedness.
Navigating that site is like pulling teeth (a subject I'm
well-versed in lately). It barely works. Ah, but I've got some
16 years' history with the place. Plus my build thread (if
Freeman ever gets back to it).
Mrot's TOOJ is okay. I like it. I was in on the original TOJ; it
turned into a clusterfuck of negativity and bad will. Bailed on
that a long time ago. Hope this one turns out better.
I concur with you, this place is friendly and quite pleasant. I
can be a real asshole---but usually not unless I'm taunted. This
just ain't the place for it.

I've been hanging at TOOJ some. I mean it's like barely week
old. But I've noted over the last few days a steady stream of
assholes filtering in. plus all the "Imposter" people. That shit
is already tired. Mort seems like a awrightmuthafucka though.
The El Cruncho guy too. Logged in last night and this morning
and I didn't say a fucking thing. So it seems like it's heading
for HCOJ territory, sans the censorship and running a hella lot
faster. So I don't know. Maybe I'd be better off just confining
myself to what little goes on in here, cause it's real, and
doing other things besides wasting my time in forums.
Edit: Well I call bullshit on myself. Just commented on the Dano
       in Disney thread on TOOJ.
       I can't trust me.
