Okay.
Note avatar pic update.
The guitar is a beauty. Top notch craftsmanship. What tiny flaws
I can find are just the nature of "hand built" (and I really
gotta look for 'em).
It plays wonderfully. Feels great in the hands. SMOOTH.
Sharp attack, accents the primary note, not a lot of
sustain---which is exactly what I was after. This is a
fingerpickin' guitar, not a six-string piano. Even response
across the frequency range, not "boomy" or "ice picky". The tone
will only mature from here on.
The cracks are soundhole level out at the edges and about 3"
long apiece. The treble side crack MIGHT just be finish, but the
bass side is definitely into the spruce. Freeman packed it in a
Martin hardshell case in a padded shipping box, so he's
obviously not in any way responsible for this. It took one HELL
of a blow to damage it this way. Fucking UPS >:(
They don't affect the structural integrity or the sound of the
instrument in any significant way. Just so disappointing on a
brand-new guitar.

Sounds like the flaws are cosmetic for the most part then...You
seem happy with the guitar....So
