       Danocoustic's FK build thread
By: AJ Date: January 19, 2019, 8:17 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
....Posting a link here. Danocoustic is having Freeman Keller
build him an acoustic. Freeman has built so many beautiful
guitars, both acoustic and electric. Figure this is a good
reason for a sticky so we can all watch the progress. Oohs and
       Ahhs permitted and encouraged.

I'm so excited about this, I could just shit! Been saving for
years to afford this once-in-a-lifetime instrument.
Freeman not only does first-rate work, he's amazingly
affordable. If this was a Martin guitar, it would list for $3500
or so (judging by their catalogued offerings).

I'm excited for you man! I love Freeman's build threads anyway
and having one built for a friend is way cool!
I've salivated over his Barncasters...Actually drooled into my
       keyboard.... :o
I've never owned a tele myself. One of those guitars I've always
wanted but never acquired. Then again, I've not been a prolific
collector of guitars. I've got 4 right now...that is that
actually are complete and work...I've got 4 more that do not
work and are not complete, but none are prize winners or even
       desirable.
But if I get another, it's going to be a Tele or a Tele by
       another name I think.

I only have 3 Teles currently. One is in pieces, project stalled
because I need to do some serious sanding outside and it's COLD.
Freeman's been back to work on my OM. New pics up 8)

       I like scalloping 8)
I also like dovetailed neck joints---but a bolted mortise and
tenon joint makes sense when you consider having to remove the
neck for a reset many years down the road. I don't expect to be
alive to see that, but whoever owns this guitar when that time
       comes will appreciate it.

Freeman's build threads outta be required viewing for luthiers
in training. They should be entered into the National Archives.
Just imagine if there had been video available when C.F. Martin
was building guitars...Or Fermi in his lab...Or the Egyptians
building the Pyramids...Or the Cambodians building Angkor Wat.
you just don't know that perhaps 50 years from now a "Freeman
Keller" may be as prized as a Pre-War Martin. We need to not
only appreciate craftsmen as they practice their craft, we need
to preserve all info we can about their processes.

I agree, the guy is a treasure, and his work should be archived.
What really blows me away is that he does all this in a corner
       of his garage!!!

I'd just tell anyone that's following this to click on the link
in the lead post. It will take you to the thread and you can
follow the progress of the build. it's astonishing how much has
already been accomplished. The rate it's going, I think we'll be
gazing upon a finished guitar within 2 weeks...If not less!
Given what you're facing medically Dano...I'm thinking having
your Keller in close proximity to the place of your
convalescence will be a very great incentive to GET WELL SOON!
       ;)

It'll be at least a couple more months, AJ. A whole lot of
detail work needs to be done yet, and the finishing process
(nitrocellulose lacquer) requires a lot of dry/cure time. I
don't expect it to be completed until I'm well into recovery
       from the surgery (assuming...).
       It'll be what it be's, yo ;)
