Thank you! So far so good! The neighbors were leaving to go to
the firecracker stand a couple of hours ago with their kids, so
I gave the guy a Franklin and told them to make them happy.
They came back over a little while later and the three of us
went out and watched them and their kiddos blow stuff up.
I never get tired of hearing children squeal with delight. The
Lad and the Guy had a roman candle duel. Amusing...Non lethal
       fun.
While it's cool, there is no wind. The neighborhood has a
foreboding cloak of smoke about it.

I went to bed around midnight, not intending to stay up that
late. I heard some fireworks, but after a short time I went to
sleep and wasn't disturbed by any explosive sounds.
I'm going to Costco this morning. Think maybe I'll hit Ikea for
       their cheap-ass breakfast.

A cheap breakfast is a good exercise in frugality to start out
the New Year. We were up 'til around 1 A:M and it was still
going like gangbusters outside. Right before turning in I looked
outside and I swear the smoke was thick as fog.
Turns out, some real fog rolled in last night as well, mixed
with the smoke, and the visibility plummeted even more.
I'll be cooking a cheapass breakfast here at home.
Soaked my Black eyed peas last night. Will be lighting a fire
under them later. Some Navy beans too because Mrs.Jim don't like
Blackeyes. Says they taste like dirt. Her view, not me and the
Lad's. We love 'em. Bake some cornbread. Not sure if I'm gonna
grill a chicken or fry some catfish....Or maybe grill some
catfish. I wanted to utilize the rotisserie setup I got for my
grill. Chicken would be perfect for that......May just go
meatless and grill some veggie kabobs. That's an idea. I still
have tines from the rotisserie setup I had from 10 or so years
ago. I could setup 4 sets of tines and skewer squash, tomatoes,
peppers, and slices of corn on them and let them rotate to
       perfection!
All i have on the agenda today is cooking and putting up a new
bird feeder i got for Christmas.

cornbread and black eyed peas on the table here as well... i
worked most of the day puttering around on a new gong stand then
sat down and promptly fell dead asleep... not sure if it was
the paint fumes but i had a miserable headache so i medicated
heavily and next i knew it was after midnight... i feel ok
now... now that its 2:30 am!

       Back at ya Braman!
Got the new feeder up so the little winged ones have some chow.
Ended up doing a chicken on rotisserie and while it took longer
than expected it was really good.
Quiet New Years Day here...never left the abode.
Quiet at work today too. Nasty weather all day...Rainy, drizzly
       day. Never got to 50.

Our Wednesday was maybe 75ish and sunny I think. I spend a lot
of time inside. But I do get to see some birds at the feeders
while I'm sitting playing the piano. I have some titmouse and
yellow finches lately. Some greyish finches also.
