ummm... professional student for more years than i will admit.
chemistry, botany, mycology, nursing, music, psychology, all
within a class or two of having the paperwork... ive never been
big on paperwork... a paiting holiday is a run, or mistake in
your paintwork... someone “took a holiday” and wasnt paying
       attention...
and dave? i used to go to a gong forum that some top notch
gongsters used to haunt... the big boys in the industry, and
was unable to drum up, sorry... much interest. theyre pretty
much stuck in the box that held the one they used to sit in..
for what its worth, im trying to shake that up a bit... making
stands that fit a performance as opposed to just being
functional/utilitarian, atmosphere and setting all purposely
designed and moving towards effect... scents, images, physical
comfort and relaxation attended to with a bit of
streching/yoga... the whole nickel tour. its fluff, but its
important fluff... aside from that ive also stumbled upon two
factors that may set me apart from the other monsters... one,
ive possibly deloped a different, new style that hasnt been
capitalized upon before... taking a mistake and the genius of a
three year olds logic in response and forming a technique that
ive shared but not with any performing players. ive searched
for three years to find anyone doing anything remotely similar
and... tag, i seem to be it, right now, so the time is now to
try to pull this rabbit out of my chapeau..

beautiful! one of my friends here is a microbiologist,
retired... he has a daughter, sophomore in college, that we
spent the day at her request, getting some hands on learning
about plants. the storm opened living structure of trees and
some biosystems to ready observation and she was full of good,
thinking questions... its pure joy watching a students passion
develop and ignite... no matter the subject.
lol! i have a friend that invested 8 years of his life to get a
degree in marine microbiology only to graduate and take a job as
a chemist at a union carbide chemical plant... three miles from
his home. his father had some pull at the lab and the
requirements were such that he would have qualified right out of
high school... cookbook chemistry... i will never understand
       some things.
on the flip side,,botany is one of those subjects that is
real... hands in the dirt, thinking, sweating, real life of
which we are an integral part. no matter if you pump gas or
deliver babies, a basic understanding of the mechanics of life
around you is a wonderful asset for any individual, imho.

What turned the Lad was his part-time job, in fact the only job
he has ever had. He went to work at Home Depot right after
starting Community College. In the Garden Department. Before
long, he took over tending to the few houseplants we had. I came
home from work one day, and he had mowed the lawn, a little
higher than I usually did. Explaining to me that I was stressing
the grass by cutting it too close. I said, "Ok...So you mow the
       lawn now?".
He started bringing plants home, interesting plants too. He
brought home a Venus Flytrap. That was three years ago and it
thrives still. Now our home, inside and out brims with plant
life, which he tends every day, lovingly. I bought him a
greenhouse about a year ago, and you'd think I'd bought him a
       Porsche.
He talked to me and the Missus and said he wanted to change his
major to Botany, even though this will mean yet another year in
CC before he can transfer to a 4 year school. How could we say
       anything but "Follow your dream".
If you do something you love for a living, you never work a day
       in your life.

it warmed up today so i unloaded and cleaned out the trailer. it
took a little damage in the hurricane but i think i can replace
the roof vent and fix the small, two inch tear in the roof.
luckily i didnt lose anything of value to mold.
it began a light rain so i headed inside to continue tearing
down and getting stuff in cases ready to load out.
ive added a twist this time. amplification! the high spl at
these things makes it tough and sometimes just flat out
impossible to hear what im doing. i have to be alert to times of
low noise levels which makes scheduling impossible. im
thinking 7500 watts will help. lewitt large diaphragm
condensers on the gongs and 4 small diaphragm condenser pencils
on the bowls. i added a shure shotgun to the 48” for use on the
“hands on” technique to bring out the surface fluctuations and
       such.

i know thats not a lot of power compared to the big sound camps
but im hoping it will be enough to allow me to fill the area in
my dome enough to get the benefits... and with any luck, i
wont be near the dj’s and main sound stage this year... unless
i get another offer to be on the main stage... thats
       different!

Never had a deep fried pickle. Do you batter them?
Cinny likes all kinds of pickled stuff. She brought home a jar
of pickled baloney. The smell is hideous. She pickles eggs and
       zucchini. Blech.

Ditto the Blech on your love's picklin' choices. But in answer
to your query, yes they are battered. Down here we batter
everything you can think of. Pickles, Twinkies,Snickers bars.
Battered fried bacon with cream gravy is a delicious road map to
a heart attack. But indescribably delicious.
